What are some of peoples likes/dislikes about the Pisa Artero dash overlay? If you could get one that was little sleeker and vinyl color matched to the grey or tan stock interior what do you think a fair price would be? I`m just looking for peoples opinions, as I think some Fiero owners are a little hesitant to do a complete dash swap, but would like to change the stock one up a bit. Thanks, Mike

I say build it and they will buy it...you do great work! Hey I got 1st place at the 10th annual Pontiac show in Seguin a couple weekends ago. There were 3 of us competing out of 6 Fiero’s, so I would have got at least 3rd…but it was nice to receive a 1st place up against a really nice 88 GT and a super clean 85 GT w/4.9.

Wow, that`s great Paul. Glad to hear it. I`m already getting the itch for another Fiero, but currently I`m just looking for a parts car I can maybe develop some mods for. Have you considered painting the rockers on your car? I think with the front end painted all the way to the bottom, like it is, it would really look good. Mike
Yes I am going to get the car painted next year...have Angel hood scoop on the way and Lebaron brake upgrade brackets...also this winter will be new Polly suspension, shocks, struts, sway bars, and if the funds don't dry up early next year a wide body and 3.4 swap...then the paint

I knew you did not go far before you wanted back in the game
Hey anytime you want to "try out a mod" bring it on by!! (finished of course )
Paul, COOL CONGRATS!!! I almost came down for that show(you may have gotten 2nd) lol I didn't want the same old plaque from them so I went to the dallas show that weekend and still pulled off a 1st place. BUT they handed out a plaque as well. times must me rough for the big trophies!
pisa still makes those. They sell for 900 as a fiberglas overlay you still have to have it upholstered. I would be more inclined to getting a dash that would fit the stock locations, use the stock holder for the gauges and has a little different tunnel. Essentially pull the old dash and tunnel out and place this new dash over every thing and have it reupholstered in what ever material you would want. there are some ease of use stuff like i would reatain the plate for the shifter surround with the ash tray doors. I would retain the plate that goes over the radio display and vents. esentially remove dash, gauger shroud, glove box, shift boot, and radio surround boot and place this dash, and tunnel on the areas screw into existing skeleton and stock locations and enjoy. Oh and allow to have 6x9" in the front.

I`m in the thinking stage right now, Joe. I am trying to obtain a car with at least a skeleton of an interior, so that I can get measurements, etc. I have a dash, but no center console. I maybe should have jumped on a Fiero a guy had on the local Craigslist for 160.00 a couple of weeks ago. One problem I found with a complete replacement dash, when I did the one pictured above, was that the stock Fiero dash is pretty flat and small from windshield to center console, which doesn`t leave a whole lot of room to angle the center console back without getting into the shift lever. Which is why I had to relocate the shifter back about 2 inches on the one I did. If I remember right you actually have to take it out of park to get a CD into the head. And Kevin if I develop something, you can be the first to try it out. Mike

i looked into getting the Pisa Artero dash overlay but i did not really like how the ac vents looked. that was really the only thing i did not like about it, if the vents where better incorporated into the overlay, like a new vent that comes out farther to match the dash. yeah that would look better.

lol No problem! But start stepin' it up for next year! You never know when I will show up and take the prizes. just ask Blake!!

I really haven`t thought about a price yet, I have just been doodling on paper trying to come up with a fairly easy way to make an overlay. I think I would have it cover the whole dash except cutouts where the defroster vent is and I would relocate some speakers maybe between the instrument pod and the ac vents on the drivers side and in front of the passenger seat have a built in glove box and another speaker. I would arch it more over the instrument pod because I think some of the squareness of the pod needs to be gone. I just think the Pisa one is sorta thick looking all the way around. I would probably cover the little vents that are in the corners of the dash for the side windows because they seem sort of useless. I`m just thinking out loud. Being that I`m a one man show ie. (builder, upholsterer, fabricator) I think I could do them fairly reasonable. They would have to be, because, and I will include myself on this one, some Fiero enthusiasts are somewhat cheap.

Just a note about the PISA overlay. Just got one, very nice. fits like a glove and has nice stitching around the edges. It does come covered in any color you want. Only issue is cost. $ 900.00..that's $750.00 for the dash and $150.00 for shipping. If you could do something for a better price I am sure there would be interest.

hi Mike... glad you're still thinking about us! I like that idea... they really do seem pointless...

could you guys post some pics of the artero dash from a few angles on it just to get a better idea of how it looks. and i would be interested in an alternative txgood if produced, keep us updated i would say a reasonable price to me would be say in the 250-300 range un upholstered and about 450 to 550 upholstered depending on the color/colors requested.

I must be the invisible man on here. I needed pics of this dash when I posted this 5 days ago https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/077793.html as well as Macs86GT as stated above. I am making one for my car out of carbon fiber and needed larger pictures to build off of but it looks like I will just remove my stock dash and use it as a template since apparently no one of the 17,000 registered members seem to own one.

i for one would like to see more pics of one instelled. plus what can you do to update the console. you might be better off getting the wrap around dash unit as it comes with the console and computer cover. al
I was thinking of doing the zr2 interior although more work your getting more for you money after seeing its 900 shipped and sent to your door for the dash pad. I am still interested in a dash cover alternative though.

Update: I have started working on a dash pad. It will be similar to Pisa`s except not as bulky looking and will basically just overlay the top of the insrument pod and dash. It will have a glove box. I am almost done with the foam work to lay my fiberglass for the plug. Then I will make a mould so I can produce more of these if needed. The first I will probably cover in grey to match a grey interior. I`m not going to try to sell one until it is totally done. There will only be one version and if you have a GT it will go right over the middle gauges and if you don`t have a GT then you can maybe put something else, although I`m still trying to figure what would be good to put up there. I may post pics when I get the plug made to see if anyone has any suggestions at that point. Mike

I woundered what that would look like, I was thinking of doing the same thing with my DD. but, yes the Pisa one looks way too bulky. keep us posted I would love to see what you come up with. also a glove box would be nice D.

One of the fieros i had did not have the aux guages. I went to a scrap yard and got just the aux guage pod. i finished off the inside and it was a Very handy place to put small stuff like sunglasses, garage door opener, etc. Actually, i probably used that little storage space a LOT more than i ever used aux guages . For me, i can never have enough places to put stuff.

I have been thinking about a small pocket for putting stuff. I think maybe another idea would be one of those cup holders that slides in and out. Then when you had a can in there during the summer the Ac vents would blow directly on the can keeping it cool.
