found a good deal on some pretty cool 18x7.5 wheels but they are only available in 50mm offset. What will they look like on an 88? I dont want them to stick out, just curious how they will fit. Thanks!

BTW ive been searching but I cant find that wheel spacing guide that was on here awhile back that had a diagram of wheel sizes in relationship to the hub and the lip of the fender, I cant find it anywhere.

found joe tormas post https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/058236.html

Looks like it will work but may need to use a spacer. For some reason I was thinking a 50 would stick it out of the wheel wells, its the opposite. Its been a long time since ive bought any, haha. I may have to use a 10mm spacer, but no biggie.

BTW if anyone else is interested, http://www.discounttiredire...unter=7&wd=18&rw=7.5

ended up being $200.16 shipped!!!!

You know that chart is great. But, I don't get the marks for '88 Front wheel well edge. How is the body different on an '88 so that it has a different wheel well edge?

its not the body, its the relationship of the hub to the body. The front changed in 88. Ever notice when someone rotates their tires on an 88 it looks messed up because the backspace of the rear wheels are different (and the fronts are narrower) from the front and they stick out.

Here's a link for you. Rick88 sent this to me. I love it.

http://www.bigcustomwheels.com/rt_specs.jsp

Here's a 18X7.5 w/50 offset versus the same wheel in a 35 offset. Looks like the 50mm offset will set the wheel inboard about 0.60" compared to a 35mm offset.

Hello,

I have a 1988 Fiero GT with the 5-speed manual.
I have a set of 4 BBS RG-F 16x7 wheels that have a +48mm offset.
I am running 225/50-16 tires up front, and 245/50-17 tires on the rears.
I have been running these wheel for 3 years now with absolutely no problems. No rubbing on anything.
Your wheels have only +2mm more offset compared to my wheels @ +48mm offset.
They should work with no problem since 2mm / 25.4mm/inch = .078".

Hope this proves helpful.

They will be fine for the front and the rear would be fine with a 10-15mm spacer. You could probably run them on the rear as is, but it would look stupid and you might hit the strut.

Yea I think a 10mm spacer would work perfect. My wheels on X are 38mm back and fit perfect with 245/45/17. I'm thinking 245/40/18 on my gt.

Ok I can see the hub being further outboard. But, the diagram does not show that, it has a separate line for the 1988's wheel well edge.

i guess instead of drawing a line for the 88 hub line, it was drawn for the fender edge instead. Could go either way. You just have to visualize it either way.

It should be fine up front on the 88, but may need a spacer at the rear, or wider tires.
