People are going to floor it without the necessity. I certainly do.
The note of the 2.8 L at full throttle at 5000 RPM is intoxicating. It's a treat. Why wouldn't I want to hear it?
If the engine lasts me 200 000 km, I'm happy with that. Then if need be, I have a rebuild project.
If I wanted to baby the car, I would have purchased a FWD commuter, not a sports car.
I *want* it to be loud, bumpy, and raw... that's the essence of having an 80s sports car rather than a modern day numb, heavy, sound-isolated, cup-holder equipped, electronic nanny-filled car.
Had to throw the cup-holder part in there didn't you.

i think i may just re build it. im so confused what to do. find engine or re build engine. sell fiero or keep fiero. what to do..... but the machine work alone is all of my budget

If it spun a rod bearing, the crankshaft is probably buggered up. It may or may not be rebuild-able. That said, you should be able to find a crankshaft kit (which will include matching main / rod bearings) at your local auto parts store.
Oh, and get an ignition box with a rev limiter... LOL.

a msd 6a or 6al box is in the future... Now if i rebuild do i need to send the block out? What i mean if there are no ridges and everything "looks" ok can i get the crank re ground and some new bearings and then rebuild and have a reliable engine? Or do i need to get the blocked honed, fluxed ect...? i was thinking re build kit and a re ground crank and call it a day.

It depends on how badly the crankshaft is damaged. If the crankshaft can be reground / polished, just do that and toss it back in. If it's too bad, grab a crank kit and toss that in. You shouldn't have to do a full rebuild just for a spun rod bearing. Just make sure to clean out the oil pan, to get rid of the debris from the trashed bearing. And replace the oil filter.
