It's official....I'm coming. I hope to have the the Fiero there, but we will have to wait and see. It will be trailered down if it comes...I can't trust it to make a 2000 mile trip with the recent problems it has had.
Is there anyone that wants to share a room to save a few bucks? I have a reservation for a 2 bed room, but only plan on sleeping in one of them.

You can meet us any place you want. The Old Sugar Mills starts serving breakfast at 0900. I plan on calling the Mill on Thursday to let them know how many people I have on the list. I will call them on Friday around 0830 to confirm the list.

No, unfortunately. My wife and I will be leaving North Port Friday morning whenever the baby wakes up so we probably wont get to Daytona until 10:00 or 11:00AM.
Started my swap up today, ran great for a few minutes. I still have some work left to do now but at least I know the motor runs. Hopefully it holds together at least until Daytona, Im too far into it to not be able to bring the Fiero now!

Just a heads up for those of you who are attending, Fiero fiberglass will have at least 1 of all of our parts there. Anyone who buys a part and can not take it with them due to space or becuse we sold out there, we are offering free shipping as long as the part/parts are paid for at the show.
Are you by yourself for the breakfast or will their be others?
me, myself & I...that makes 3 plus my nemesis is 4..jk..i'm flying solo on this one, for now...
oh, & got my registration 2day..#46!
so....how many days left?
Who's leaving from the host hotel for the friday breakfast? and how far is it from the host hotel to the Old Mill, driving time (in order to be there for 8;45-9am)?

Well, after a long, abusive "battle" with my 88 I am finally on track for Daytona.
I redid the top end of the 2.8, valve job, new gaskets, o-rings, powder coat, paint, rebuilt the dist, new timing chain, water pump, all the works, no expense spared... after that... I started to loose oil pressure (engine has 100K), I thought surely it couldn't be bearings, so I dropped the pan, cleaned pickup screen and added a new pump.... SLIGHT change... then I thought on deceleration I heard a slight rod knock.
So I parked it, dropped pan AGAIN and R&R the bearings. The mains looked fine, rods were showing their age (some scarring), replaced them all (not too hard, the thrust main and main #1 were a ***** ) and oil pressure is back, 75-80 (on manual gauge) on start up, lowers to 45 while driving, and around 25 when hot at idle.
After the test run, I saw coolant in the concrete under the radiator. WTF! However that seems to have been a fluke, nothing has leaked since. But then, after charging the A/C following the compressor rebuild and new components, I see my left rear caliper leaking while check for refrig leaks. Fluid is still at level so it must have JUST happened. Napa has a rebuild kit for that, I'll tackle that this week.
It doesn't end there, of course....
Now I hear either a lifter failure, or the lash needs adjusting, as i hear the valve train once in a while. That I am not worrying about before the trip, the thing ran fine before I thought I would freshen her up. This car has probably 85% of her replaced, and it seems the parts I don't tend to are either getting jealous, or becoming a PITA! And all this while it's freezing outside! I have rebuilt 8 engines or more, and never once had a problem. I should have just pulled the entire thing and put in the 3800 SC like I planned. I actually have the engine for it, just used the SC for my GP.
At any rate, my brother and I are very excited about getting away from work, and taking a trip, and meeting you guys. Hopefully, everything will go smooth, if not, check on PFF frequently to see where we are stranded at. ::Knocks on wood:: I honestly think if I would have hauled this pile down to Daytona the way she was 9 months ago, she would have been fine.... so much for CARING! J/K
Where is a good place to clean up the cars when we get there!?

Only a few more weeks! ! ! ! !

Wow! Now this is the Daytona show Fiero spirit. Good luck!
thanks for the helpful info on the hose and water!
and thanks guys for the moral booster.
granted everything went real smooth with her "resto" until 3 weeks ago when i started the engine stuff. well, i take that back, in Nov when I went to get new tires and it aligned, the guys told me my ball joint was falling out, it was good, jsut wouldnt stay pressed in... so i did another total overhaul, new bushings for arms and sway, ball joints, shocks, tieroads, rebuilt steering rack, etc. front and rear, and had everything powdered. if this car was painted green, id call her the money pit... i have nicknamed her the "LMAO", cause lately, all you can do is laugh when you fix one thing to find another thing needs attention...

It is a sad day for me. The Fiero will not make Daytona. Don't worry, I will still be there....but no Fiero.
I have sent in the registration (late, and haven't gotten a reply yet) to bring a car into the track....and that includes admission for two adults (I think my ego can get in for free, so I only count as one). If someone needs to get a car in, I can help.
Still looking for a roommate for the hotel, too.

my DD is 99% done now all I have left to do on it is the rear bumper and a few little odds and ends that will not take long at all. I had to rush a few things that I am not real happy about but they will have to be fixed at a later date.
