We had a weekend scouting trip to Ardmore... met up with Doug, Tom & Pam, and Gerald...
Doug was heavily medicated, Tom was popping aspirin trying to stave off pain from a recent surgery, Gerald had some allergy something going on... I don't think I wanna go to Oklahoma!
Me, Tom Slick, Jarhead, and Stu had a nice afternoon with our hosts... here's a few more details:
The lodge is pretty cool. Like stepping into a time warp. Gorgeous views... probably will be chilly right off the lake in October... so I'd bring something warm. The rooms with 2 beds will pretty much only allow 1 body per bed! They are twin beds... so if you're doubling up... be prepared for not much matress real estate. The rooms were nice... bathrooms clean. Awesome back porch... might even be able to use the fire pit Tom spied on the edge of the lake.
Cruise route looks real scenic... though around the lake, we WILL have to mind our P's & Q's... Park Service was all to eager to follow the 3 Fiero's in the lead of our scouting trip.
There is a restuarant on site (I think it was called the Apple Bin, serving breakfast, luch, & dinner). Meals were real reasonable in price. It should make food real convenient, or Ardmore is about a 15 minute run down the road. OUr supper will be at a place in Ardmore called 2 Frogs. http://twofrogsgrill.com/ They were really eager and accomodating, said they would section off the parking lot for us. The meals were a little above average in price if you went for steak or seafood... less than $10 for burgers & salads.
WE WILL HAVE RODEO GAMES!--- with my usual innovative homemade awards. To start Saturday morning, attendees will roll down the lake at their convenience... about a mile or so, to the public beach (no set schedule... but you have to play the games before you park and visit!), run the games (in your car... should only take about 5 mins...)... then park and do our visiting with the lake right behind us. It should be fantastic.
Then do lunch, nice cruise around Lake Murray, then over to Turner Falls ($3/per person, we think)... then back to lodge for an unwind period, then cruise to supper in Ardmore.
I am really looking forward to this event. Some of us from NTFC are investigating some random stops on Friday if you want to join us... May do the Arbuckle Wilderness in the afternoon. Cost is like $17 per adult. You can drive through the wilderness preserve with all the animals and such... but I am more interested in the Arbuckle Mountain formation exhibit that is new... the Arbuckles are among the oldest mountains on earth, and this portion of the tour gives insight on the formation and erosion of mountains that can't be found many places on earth. http://www.arbucklewilderness.com/default.aspx
Might stop into Winstar for lunch buffet. Just kicking around ideas.
*** There are only 3 double twin bed rooms available and only 9 single queen bed rooms left *** Don't wait!

Blake, as it gets closer, I want to find out where and what time you guys will be meeting up in the DFW area to head out. I would like to meet up with you guys to go up with the group. Also, since I`m bringing my truck I would appreciate, if one of you guys have the room once we get up there, if I could ride with you on the cruise route. I will check with someone once we get up there and see if I can hitch a ride. Mike

I bet we can find you a spare seat, Mikey.
and no problem on you meeting up with us. We will pick a mutually inconvenient spot for all DFW comers to meet... probably off I-35 in Denton. We might have lunch in Denton... or like I mentioned... head up to Winstar and check out their buffet. Or other suggestions welcome.
You have any interest in doing that Arbuckle Wilderness thing?

Question for OK peeps, do the state parks allow alcohol?
The state park rule is nothing over 3.3% alcohol. So don't get caught with Texas beer or bring a bottle to a Oklahoma state park. With that said during the peak summer months that rule gets broken all the time.

Howdy, Is it just me or does it look mostly like a dallas group ruckus? I thought the Houston, San Antinio, and Austin were a huge club? Are they not invited? Is it too far for them? I don't mean to ruffle feathers if I am out of line. I do see what revin and that other guy was talking about now. Someone else is the "host" yet Blakenspace does all the talking, leg work and hotel info?
Oh and speaking of the Hotel/motel, Why ain't there more hotel choices available? None in the area? The bedding does not sound all that well. Is there a holiday Inn close by? I could make it now to your show, but I am not liking the hotel info. Oh and how far from the Texas border will this be? Is there something for my wife to do? She wants to come but not ride in my "little car" all day. Her words.

Ruckus is for anyone that wants to join!
There are plenty of hotel/motel options in nearby Ardmore, don't let a 50's era lodge keep you away.
as for me doing all the talking, I have not seen any posts from revin, and not sure either who 'the other guy' is, did I miss something?
This years show organizer, Tom, doesn't do "that computer thing," and requested that I handle the electronic end of it. I don't even know if he has a username on PFF. He's kinda... well... old school.

I`m from Austin, but there is no "club" here, at least that I know of. What little I know about putting one of these together is that you try to get a hotel that will give you the best rates as a "group". Plus, there are usually a few people hanging out at the hotel or someplace around the hotel within walking distance. Usually, unless you are talking about the drive to the event, the actual cruise doesn`t last all day, plus there are significant others that are very friendly. I would think your wife would have a good time, as it seems most of the women do. Mike

San Antonio club is a live and well and we now have 20 members. Keep in mind that although the internet and this forum is an integral part of many peoples lives some people are not as tech savvy or choose not to post here as much as others do.
That being said San Antonio club or “AAFO” has a monthly news letter for all its members. We also meet the last Sunday of the month at 3:00 pm at Denny’s Hwy 90 and Military Drive. You are more than welcome to come to a meeting. This is where we make plans for our next club event…speaking of is the Pontiac Car Club Car Show, Saturday the 11th in Seguin registration starts @ 8am to 11am awards @4pm. Cost $25.00 to enter and we have a Fiero class.
You can contact club president Robert White @ aafosatx@msn.com
I don’t know off hand how many of the AAFO members are coming to the Ruckus but I know there’s a few. I will ask at the car show this Saturday and post some numbers later.
Fellas, I am sorry if I offended anyone. I am still new to this Fiero world and maybe I should keep my dumb farmer mouth shut. The wife just wants to shop. For what I don't know but she loves to visit malls. Is there one of them near? I just talked with revin the other day .he has been a godsend on helping get my turbo up and running, I am not sure why he will not write something on here. Should I be more cautious about him? He is not like that fast fiero guy I read about with the chop top is he? I didn't think so, but like I said I am new to this and all helpful hints about this car are welcomed! Looks like I stepped in poop again! Fellas, I really don't know what I am talking about. please do not think this dumb farmer is just a dumb farmer. I know it seems like it sometimes. Thanks for the heads up on the hotels near by! Jay

Don't think there is such a thing as a "dumb farmer". At least among the ones I know. Anyone that can make it in that business now of days is either near genius, well heeled, or deep in debt.
Revins a good guy... Please don't put him the same boat as the other one you mentioned.
Also there is an Outlet mall north of Gainsville Tx. Off I-35 exit 501 (I think). That would be about 40 miles south of Ardmore. I don't know what Ardmore has.
Also if anyone is interested there has been an 86 or 87 GT for sale at a used car lot off the SE corner of hwys US82 and tx372 (opposite the Wal-mart) in Gainsville. It's burgundy with ?gold trim and GFX?. I've only seen it from the road and it has been there for a long time. Can't stop and check it out because they don't have room for a big truck.

Dave, I think that`s the car I saw on Autotrader a while back. I called about it and the guy said it had some front ground effects damage, it needed a new alternator and the ac didn`t work. I was surprised that a dealer didn`t just go ahead and replace a faulty alternator. Mike

V6 altenators can be FUN. I traded the wheels I got from you in 2007 to MstangsBeware yesterday. Got a set of black 88's for my coupe.

Cool Joe, that ought to look good. Man, I wished I had the funds to get another Fiero, but it looks like it will be next year. I`m counting the months until child support is up and I will start looking for my dream Fiero. A 1988 Red, 5speed Gt. Sometime this year I`m going to start on a custom dash that I`m going all out on, to go into the car I get. It will be black with red stitching. Of course, first I need to finish the one that I`m working on. I have started to go a different route with it, since I now have sewing capabilities. Black with white stitching. Mike
Reserved a room. I don't have anyone I'm going with, but maybe I can talk someone into going. I booked the two twin bed room. Now I need to get those days off, since that's my weekend to work.
Well I put in for vacation for the event so I am set in that area. Got my biatch Blake to reserve the love shack for the two of us. Now let's see if I can finish my LS4 swap before the show. Havent beed to many Fiero events this year so cant wait for this one.

Face it...You are never going to make it to a show or even a monthly NTFC meeting at that......Do you even own a Fiero again? I bet you are not even the original SmoothGT but and imposter......
SmithGT, Blakenspace said that the ok. guys are not on the internet much and he is just helping get the word out.
This is my first Fiero thing and I am hopeing it will be alright. What is a swag bag? So we get there, go to a rodeo then take our cars to turner falls. Is that all? What else are going to do? What time do we leave on sunday? I have a mighty long way to drive home. Jay

I think the lodge pre-dates 8 Track. Maybe bring a reel to reel player? Sorry (honestly) that you won't make it. A lot of folks choose to go in whatever they have running. We've had vette's and 350z's all the way to Jeep's and Rio's as chase/support vehicles.
Jay,
here is a loose itenerary as it was told to me. Please don't feel obligated to do Ruckus things if there is something else that you and the missus would rather do. At Ruckus 1 at Texoma, my wife and I snuck off and played 18 at the nearby golf course, and at Ruckus 3, Revin & Lupe and my wife & I found a little Mexican joint we wanted to try in San Angelo for supper.
Friday-- nothing official, generally most people just travel to the location, check in and visit with other attendees Some caravanning up from DFW will probably hit the Winstar buffet for lunch, then scoot over to Davis/Sulphur for a venture through Arbuckle Wilderness. There's a dragstrip nearby... might do that on Friday evening. Open invite, links posted earlier.
Saturday-- morning... sometime after 0900... meet at the Lake Murray public beach area, compete in 4 quick in car rodeo games before you park and visit. Early afternoon we will do a cruise around Lake Murray, climb the tower/museum/overlook in the first post, then visit Turner Falls. We will probably be at the Falls for a while, people can do photo ops, hike around, more visiting, whatnot. Back to the lodge for a brief respite/unwind. Supper in Ardmore at the Two Frogs. Saturday night, many just gather to visit, tell lies, and make fun of me while we share beverages of choice.
Sunday-- Meet for farewell breakfast. Give awards (might be done on Sat night), thanks, previews for next years Ruckus. People leave whenever they want, as their schedule allows.

Do you have a direct problem with Blake no but you do have a problem with him because of the influence of another. That is pretty obvious and easy to read or maybe just cause I am one smart mofo. If six other people have issues with Blake then why do they not grab a handful and come out and say it. I mean it is easy enough being this is the internet and it is not like you have to face the person. 10speeder is like you in that you have problems with Blake because of the influence from another person. That person I am good friends with also but I am smart enough to have two friends and walk that line.
What other events have you been to where Blake has taken them over? List them for me PLEASE....O yeah--You haven't been to a Fiero event in how long or even showed up to a local event in how long? Jump off the band wagon and grow a set so you don't have to ride on someone elses.
Blake does always have a hand in the events going on but then again it is easy enough for the host of the show to tell him to step back and shut up. If this is not happening then maybe you should host the next big event so you can be the first...it is that easy. If you think about the last few RRR there was a need for someone to step in and get things going because if not there would have not been a RRR.
And further more.....If people don't wanna show up becuase of certain people also being there then BOO-FUKIN-WHO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you want to continue this then make a New Thread and we can take it to the TRASH CAN..I do not want to cloud this Thread up with BS!!!!!!

I guess I don't understand why someone would ask a question about me, to you. Seems like they could just ask me, as opposed to asking a person that went to 1 event for a few hours one evening, had a bunch of trouble meeting forum obligations, had a bunch of drama, then disappeared for several years. That's the only problem I have.
If any of those persons are reading this... feel free to contact me. No hard feelings. As for people not coming because I will be there... Great! That's on them. I hope they are honestly happier staying at home. Hope they figure out a way to deal with it... I don't plan on leaving.
Steve, If you will send me your TN, I will pass it on to the organizer Tom Myers. I can have him call you. (I would not give out a number without permission) He is not on the forum, nor does he want to be. Other than having someone pass the data on... I don't know how interested people would find out any details. Now if you'd like to be that guy... step up. If ANYONE would like to be that guy... step up, and I will step back. Tom did ask me to handle the games side of things, so I can't pass that responsibility off... but I do need help with trophies and running the games. If no one volunteers... guess who that falls on?
