Gee.......I wonder what engine is in that car? Two coils max please. Remember the 88 suspension has a wider front track. Inner fender wells are your friend.

I guess "Sleeper" went out the window.

I'm gonna take 1/2 coil at a time until I like it.

Well Jeff is waiting on a bracket for the shifter cable from West Coast Fiero. He also has to redo his A/C lines and install the decklid. If he finishes this week maybe we can get started this weekend.

Phil, I plan to lower the rear of the Mera about an inch since I will have it apart, and then drop the front to get the look I want. A slight foward rake is what I am looking to end up with. I cut one coil on the front of the yellow 88, but I may do a little more on this one since it has larger wheel openings. I am interested in seeing how much you end up lowering yours.

I also have a collection of goodies just waiting to be installed the 3.4. I can't wait to get wrenching. Shhhhhh.....This may concern Pat and Jeff since I have been called a "slave driver" when working on cars.

I should have the front dropped by this week. I'll take plenty of pics for you. Hopefully I can head down there and help (watch) you guys work on some swaps. We will have to figure out a good weekend for everyone. The 4.9 is about ready for a long road trip anyway.

Pending a parts delivery from WCF, we should have Jeff's car finished up before the weekend. Tried all day to get someone at WCF to answer the phone - no luck! I may have to fab something up to get us by until it arrives. Regardless, the 3.4 swap begins this weekend.

Rick, remember that little issue we had with the sway bar in Jeff's car? Well we had it right the first time. Going to have to flip it back the other way!

Phil,

The Stray is looking good. Your jumpy tach has to be something in the ignition - like you said - maybe loose wires, etc. I used the stock ones on the XTC when I first fired it up and it ran like caca. After a tune up, all is well. I'm off to the garage to flip a sway bar.

Pat

It only happens sometimes now with the tach. It's gotta be a wire somewhere....

Let me know how that swaybar goes! I need to know the easiest way to put mine back in!

I'm pretty sure it involves dropping the rear of the cradle. I trid "fishing" it through and I could not find a way to get it through. I'll know for sure tomorrow!

Too lazy to go to the store to buy flex hose? Use what you've got!

I am thinking I need a new hobby.

Yes, that is two V-6 intake hoses, and the caddy hat. $25 AZ filter I found laying around....

That does snake around a bit. Would the stock fiter housing bring in more cold air from the side vent?

My next 3 day weekend starts September 10th. We may be ready to do the swap by then. This weekend we will pull the 3.4 from the Bus and get it on the stand.

Got the front lowered today. Exactly 2 inches with two coils taken from the bottom.

And I'll be adding this in the next week or so....

Looks good Phil! How tall are your tires? I may have to do the same two coils on mine but I want to make sure my tires willl clear. Can't wait to see it with the scoop mounted.

The tires are almost identical to the stockers. 215/45 ZR17. I could get away with 3 coils, but it would be tight. I may go 2 1/2 after it settles a bit, but it has a nice look to it now. About an inch lower than the rear. It rides like a dream.

Depends on when you wanna drop yours, but if we get to meet up again soon, we could swap in these springs on your Mera to try it out. I have it down to about an hour with hand tools.

Also, I figure if I put the scoop on, it will deter me from trying to chop the Stray. Unless I chop the scoop..........hmmmm.

How much did you cut the bump stops? I don't think I would want to go any lower than two coils because of my driveway. My car has 245/50/15's on the front but I am going to try some 205/60/15's so it will steer easier as slow speeds. I think the diameter is about the same.

I left the bump stops until I get some miles on it. It doesn't look like it will be a problem yet. I measured the rubber, it looks like it's right at 24" tall.

The joys of owning a Fiero!

Heading to work yesterday, noticed a smoke cloud behind me!

Then the smell......

Pulled over and had oil EVERYWHERE!

Looks like one of the oil cooler lines let go. I'm in the middle of another engine swap, so it will have to wait until the garage is free again....

Driving the Solstice until it's fixed. Life isn't that bad afterall.

Pics coming soon!
