I remember a few threads here where the C5/6 flushmounts where attempted, one of these attempts was going to be on a choptop. All I can remember from all of these threads is that people saying it was just difficult and giving up. I Have seen all kinds of headlight modifications that must have been far more complicated, but I am left with no particular ANSWER. Can anyone help find these threads, I have tried and no luck, I know their is 2 possibly 3 different threads on this. I imagine with the NSX option the same process would be taken, chop, cut, fiberglass, and rewiring and all the other head spliting fun, would be the same with the C5 headlights. So for now any help to find the threads is appreciated!!!

I recently installed a set of flushmount vette headlights on my dad's C5. While they were apart, I sat the flushmount lens on top of my fiero hood to get an idea of size and curvature of the lenses. They were bigger than the fiero headlight doors, and they were slightly curved to match the corvette hood, however, with some chopping and fiberglass skills, they could be made to work in my opinion. The lenses looked okay just sitting there...

Ya I have these chop top links but seem to miss the actual posts of where the C5 conversion was attempted. Theoretically the C5 would be along the same lines as the 300z, NSX, and Celica headlight conversions, that Madcurl, Exotisce, and others have done. WHat concerns me is that the C5 attempts have nearly come to the same point in progress and have just died with explanations that "it was just too difficult..." but what I feel to have never been answered, as to what the issues were exactly. If these C5 conversions were attempted by amateur and novice fabricators, I wouldnt think twice about attempting it myself, but when skilled people have attempted the C5 conversion and stopped, I really wonder what happened.

They C5 "died" because of the conture of the headlamps. Demacheno tried on #025 choptop using C5 Lemans flushmounts, but according to V8Archie it was going to be very, very hard to fit them into a fiberglass nose so it was scrapped for NSX replicas.

After these headlights are in place I'm thinking of cutting out the P O N T I A C from the original popup left side headlight cover and molding it to the bumper, left side directly underneath the new HL. It's a Pontiac after all.

the 360 lights do cost too much, and they would fit wierd. The fenders on the 360 have way too much curve in them.

Bottom line-you might get them to fit, but it's going to be very, very hard and IMHO I don't think it'll flow with the stock nose, fender, and hood. Plus you'll need to cut-away part of the frame.

WoW hard to believe that it it would be so difficult
If Archie says it s too hard then that says ALOT, What a shame the C5's are so nice. The NSX are nice, also, but someone needs to seriously come up with some nice flush mounts

Putting flushmounts on a Fiero is like putting a bigger nose on Pamela Anderson.

Ya have to disagree, during the day the nose looks good until, the moment you turn on the lights those lights scream 80's. Just look at all of the current exotics, they have flush-mounts that flow with the lines of the car, not to mention the aerodynamic aspect which true connoisseur appreciates

I totally agree the pop up light shows a real sports car. Flush mounts to me look Japanese.

Well, it's not 'modern exotics' that have flush mounts. It's 'all modern cars have DRLs.' And having DRLs with pop-ups is a bit weird. The Vette still had pop-ups until '05. The only thing partcularly 80s about the Fiero's headlights, is their size. Going with lower profile headlights will make it look a whole lot better. Plus it's cheaper and easier than trying to find modern plain jane headlights that match the Fiero's body lines, or change the body lines to match the new headlights.
