The horn in my Mera sounds like it's a chipmunk with gas, or something out of a Sunbird! I have seen on e-bay a "New OEM FIAAM Horn For the Ferrari 308i & QV" and wondered if it would work in the Mera's standard connections, I asked the seller and he hasn't a clue, so does anyone have any experience with this kind of transplant? Thanks WWP
Yes, I do recall that Ferrari's and Fiats both come stock with Fiamm air horns. (made in Italy) You can buy Fiamm's in two & three trumpet versions. I have the two trumpet version on my 86 GT and the three trumpet version on my Reatta. You might have to put in a relay but most of them come with that. You should be able to mount them up front somewhere. Once you go air horns you'll never go back.

The previous owner of my Mera installed Fiamms under the front left wheel well. They are "okay," a little on the European high-pitched side though.
On my 88GT, I installed the Wolo brand twin air horns. I simply connected the compressor wire into the horn wire (located in the harness along the inside left fender), thus keeping the original horn activated as well. Surprisingly, the combination of the air horns and the original horn is awesome...REALLY loud and sound good. I guess the original horn offsets the higher pitched air horns, so the total sound is a bit deeper. (And super loud...if I blow these in the driveway, it will set off the alarm in the Mera!)
As timgray says above, the Wolo "Bad Boy" air horns are awesome too, don't have to mess around with tubing...its all self-contained in a single unit. I plan on installing a couple of them in the Corvette to replace the two original horns.
Edit: Forgot to add that I purposely installed the compressor inside the trunk area to keep it clean and dry. I drilled two holes and installed rubber grommets for the air lines.

I saw a thread some time ago posted by somebody looking for “exotic” or “Italian (Ferrari) “ sounding horn replacements. A few people suggested a type of air horn but I can’t find the thread… So what would you say is the BEST Ferrari sounding horn??
Wolo are cheap horns and likely air horns won't last very long. Fiamm aftermarket horns isn't much better. Their OEM ones should be better but don't use horn with one Note.
Hella makes OE horns for Euro cars. Get used horns from junk yard. GM Ford etc makes good horns. Use is Lincoln, Cady, etc...
Use 1 horn or three on same Note? Sound weak most times. Use 2 horns with different notes with sound and penetrate better.
Do search.... See cave, horn in electrical section.

Thanks all, the kind of sound I was looking for is just like the one on You Tube ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4E8loO1LPk ). I don't know if these are air horns, or a stock horn, but there are two tones to it. Does this sound like any of your horns?
awwww the classics....i want the horn from the Rolls-Royce golf cart in CaddyShack. the one where Chevy and DangerField come pulling up in for the big game.....Noonan!!!
its part of the song "We're In the Money".....good luck on your quest

IF it EVER gets warm enough here I will check out the horn in my "new friends" Ferrari, problem is he drives it sooooo litlte, everytime I stop there the battery is dead! I know if I stop at a dealer they will spray me with disinfectant, and then try to sell me a OEM Ferrari unit for $200.00. This can be my Winter Quest. WWP

These are what I have and they are in the same spot just a little lower.
Fiamma is the OE horn on most Ferraris over the years. I was given these by the guy who payed me $60 to install them only to hate them on his T bird. He told me to keep them. They are the true Euro sound and were the OE set for a Ferrari.
The only real issue is I have to shoot il in them once in a while to keep the full tone. They seem to stick in side the horn once in a while.
Anything is better than the OE Fiero Horn. I used to beep them and someone who cut me off and they would just wave.
