I thought it was about time i had some sort of a build thread for the body of my car to show what inspires me and my cars current and future look. I haven't done much with motor i hope that will be a V8 thread one day arrrrrrrrrrg dreaming but for now getting the look. Have new clutch have replaced all steering and suspension CV's running gear and all engine mounts and rubber in car have new quarter windows etc to fit one day and many other parts.
These are the ideas i am toying with my fiero i have made a start on side skirts as you can see by the photos. Not sure exactly which way i will go with this but this is a bit of a stand back and look at it kinda thing the photos definitely don't show off the shape of the side rails. Nothing is finished and what ever i do i will do it properly. Eg my original side skirts were badly broken 2 places one side of car i have repaired and primed them before i added the new GM GTO side skirts so everything is solid. My use of glass is high and my use of filler is minimum to make it strong.
The images are rather large 300kb i would reduce them but i think we are all on cable these days click link to see pics. Car is lowered 2 inches the body kit sits about 1/2 inch lower than bottoms of rims with 65 profile tyres on rear 60 on front currently. plan to go 18-19s with a rubber band which will make the car look real low.

New wheels The front wheels are 19x8.5 and rear are 19x10.5 offset of 38 The fronts wheels fit 245 to 255 and the rear fit 275 to 295. I might have to do more mods to fit them haven't picked em up just yet and haven't got wheel adapters as yet if needed. I might have to grind off the lugs or build the body out further not sure till i try fitting. As i dont know stud patterns on wheels with a bit of luck there is 5x100 as well as 114.3 so i can just bolt them on.
the wheels i bought do seem to fit i will know for sure when i get some tyres and maybe some spacers instead of the coil overs i can move them out an inch or so i think to meet up with the flares and get away without coil overs. Yay well i need to fit tyres before i pop the streamers

[B] Good idea. You'll just need to fill the wells will bigger wheels. I have 19x 9.5 for front and 19x11.5 for rear the rear rim was wider than advertized which i did buy and seem to fit and will take 315's

I'm glad someone else said it before I did. You do need to blend the flares with the lower ground effects to make them look right. They don't look right as they are. You also should have removed the side ribs instead of molding over them. That area will certainly crack later on because of doing that.

The side rib body moulding has actually been cut and moulded up against with fibreglass i didnt cut the flares and have used minimal filler thinking about that whole time whether to remove all that is exposed. I wanted to keep the car fiero and will paint the moulding if i find it cracking i will rip it out altogether.

Well i have the new extractors on and the short shifter is fitted got problem with slave or master cylinder as gearbox is not finding the gears periodically but will worry bout that just before spraying. I spent the weekend on the car for first time in months and have the front end almost ready for paint. I kind of lost interest a while took up another projects but back on it and now have a panel beater spray painter helping so plan to make some progress over xmas. I am still umming arrring over moulding i will either remove it completely weekend and smooth it or start custom building the moulding so it appears rounded both ends. I havent saved a cent as been fixing my old bmw cabrio at same time. i still need to pour money into both cars as still need to buy tyres for this too $2000 for rear and still need to buy paint. I shall post some pics when there is some noticable differences for an update over next few weeks.

Nice work. Regarding the stock molding. The flare/ground effects kind of beg for it to be gone and I think removing it would be the way to go. Just my .02

As you can see i have the basic shape i want i still have a bit of work to go and as mentioned i will dremmel around the trim like the front bar is done at factory. I also have to match the doors fit the wheels and then maybe modify some more to get them on so a fair bit to go.

Looks great. Here's a Photochop of how it would look if you made the flares flow into the ground effects. Just a suggestion.
I have started on moulding the ground effects to the flares i wanted more guard and wasn't happy with it. After seeing this photoshop and with the skills i have picked up i have started on making it flow better and yes i am making the car even fatter.
