sad news..... i am getting multiple reports that the getrag and axles will not hold up to the hp my ls2 will put out... now plan b i suppose. i build specialty custom porsche road race cars for a living/day job. so i guess i will look more seriously into mounting the engine and transaxle longitudal in the mera. i will use a race prepped porsche g5052 twin turbo gearbox/transaxle that will hold around 1000hp and 900ft lbs of torque. i would have to build my own rear substructure and my own custom cradle. would use c5 rear knuckles, build some custom a arms, and adapt my f430 brakes into it all. hmmmm.... i will have to think about this one for a few days.... not sure i want to ruin a mera like that.... hmmmmmm.... mike in oklahoma
How about the F40 6-speed? How hard are you going to hammer on the car?

hey dan yes i got to the fieronews site and downloaded them but my computer wouldnt open them... my puter doesnt support that type of file? any help would be great so i can see them. thanks, mike in oklahoma
when i did this i had to download a dvix player. I think i searched dvix and it went to their site, there was a free download, seemed to do the trick. at first all i got was audio, now i see video and audio....hope that helps.....they were recorded in 1989, so they are old....later- D
eerrrrrrrrrrrrr......wall........ damn thats a bummer...you know eariler i mentioned "if you have the money..." but thats too much, unless you totally want bragging rights....for 75K you could build 3+ of the others, may be a 35K compromise is in order.....man thats a tough call......if it were me i would go for 3 different builds......i dont know....hmmmmmm....

morning...all, you know Mike I thought about that, but do not want to cut the frame. i read that v8 swaps need more room. and i do not want to do that. helps keep it as stock as possible. without modifying the eng compartment i can always throw the 2.8 back in later ..."when i am 64....loosin my hair many years from now...." nice thought though....."high ho, high ho its off to work we go".....well theres the work train gotta go later- Daniel

You don't need to cut anything for a V-8.

i am down for anything ....lets talk engines..*highjacked thread alert*...Mike your in for a V8 swap. check. I just read a thread in the Tech section of a BMW V12 swap....thats alot of rework.....insane.....but very cool. could go 3.4 L with turbo..easy....or till it blows I think I will see about personally (with help, alot of help).. (probably the kid) putting a small turbo on the ole 2.8 L.????? theres a thread here doing that same thing..+350hp...(I dont need that much).......cant tell how hard it is....plus seen a pic of one installed and it don't look like much work???? is it???? now with a job, money is everywhere cuz i am...... unfortunately.....for me(old)...still.... single and have 0 kids....sooo this winter I may install a turbo, if its not hard... I have only ever changed my break pads... twice...thats my auto mech. skills....but taugh myself...i know its not hard to do but did it with eye...no book... "put togeather like you took it off" type learnin'.....soo any things game....up to $4000 -time and Material...is that do-able??? i have no idea..... *DISCLAIMER* the 3800 is a consideration because, i read here, it was pretty straight FWD.and coincidently, a stumble into an old friend's son at a car show (he was showing a katrina salvaged 3800 grand prix he built) and not knowing the kid at the time, he said his dad had a 3800 he was gonna sell....theres the eng./trans and computer harness. BAM...well come to find out daddy (my high school buddy) is more than willing to install it also....sooo it was on earlier this spring/summer, but untimely layoff shut 'er down....thats was that... now in 2 months I can save up almost 3K toward swap again sooooo......decisions,decisions.....all ideas are welcome....lets here them.... man my posts sure take a long time to compose.....out for dinner later- Dan

ok..heres one for ya.....I also have a 1995 Trans Am LT1. well lately the tranny is feelin wierd, and the mech... like 2 years ago said that it was close to break....well the time may have come....how about an LT1 swap? should be easier that your LS......maybe...i'll put an LS in the T.A at a later time...one problem is, i may lose installer if the 3800 is not involved.......i dont feel i can do an engine swap now......at all...maybe a turbo but no full engine. i dunna know......off to ponder.....bye D
