before the crash that destroyed 7071 she was a very very nice car. had new suspension bushings, new brakes, new shocks, new struts, new interior, new paint, she is low miles, and original engine still ran flawlessly before removal.

i have 7071 back to mera looking. rough in bodywork is completed.
but the thought has crossed my mind to make it more 308 gto/gtb grouppe 4 ish. nothing terribly radical. since im neck deep in fiberglass work anyhow why not...lol. a little beefier rear fender lips, a little bolder rear tail flip, 288 gto front style lower air dam, bolder rear diffuser...
some of the mods that are being done already are the 308ish flush/smooth front headlight doors, rear quarter windows very much like real 308 gtb ones/part glass part louvers, slightly bolder front lower air dam, rear diffuser, actual 308/328 qv rear upper spoiler, actual 308 gto vitaloni mirrors... any thoughts?

It is your car. Have fun and build it the way you like. Perhaps some the the "Scuderia" racing influence. I am sure you can find online pictures of racing 308's and incorporate some of those ideas in you car. I have comtemplated refinishing my Chromadoras in the matte gold finish used on vintage racing Ferrari wheels just to make my car a little different.
You have a clean sheet to work with. I am sure you will come up with somthing that looks really great!

Mike can you devlop a kit similar to what changed a 308 into a 288 GTO??? i would buy that for as a Mera upgrade. just like the F-Car company did back in the day. naw i will stick with the Aldino......so i can have another car.
speaking of which.....i just offered my busted Trans Am as a trade for a V8 Fiero......we both have bad transmissions......maybe!
anyway..... been watching Top Gear.....and they say something about venting to wheel wells to lower the pressure build up. and i want a way to copy the supercars and the way they use air to cool down the brakes.......good idea, yes?
i have been reminded of what Tom did with his door scoops and was wondering about a little mod for that also.....and/or trying to incorporate the door scoop as a fresh and forced air intake...... and if not that then, in a force the hot air out of the engine compartment deal.
AS OF 11/10/10 I WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE DRIVING MERA X BECAUSE IS HAS NO ROAD COVERAGE!!!! that was nice to find out yesterday!!!! so i guess its time to start to tear it apart!!! jack stands are needed.
kinda sucks cuz no snow is in the forecast......Dam. ohhh well i just saved $173 on car ins......wheres that stupid little Gieko.....kidding.
later Daniel
P.S. hey i have that very same hood ornament pic also.....hubba, hubba.....

let me know.......i was looking at certian Fiero supply stores but would rather give you my money! HA! you can keep the "new paint" tho
let me know bragh! later Daniel

Nice looking idea cars Mike. The side view mirrors on those Ferrari's look a lot like 80's T/A and Vette mirrors. I want to see you smooth headlight doors when they are ready. I really want that look on my car.

no where near finished yet... car will be painted 2011 chevrolet victory red with black accents
mods to come; 308 gtb/gto bolder rear fender lips 288 gto style front bumper and air dam 308 gto bolder rear tail lip mera1 rear amber lenses modded with clear centers 328 gtb rear upper spoiler $400.00
this is it so far... i will keep this up to date as we go...
ps.. my opinion is the mera is not a 308 replica per say as much as a tribute. if you were trying for a true 308 replica the stinger is your car. so with that said... my mera being wrecked in the beginning made it possible for me to do mods to it as i saw fit without hurting the value any further than it already was/has. my car will resemble/tribute a factory 308 gtb/gto not the 288 gto. thanks, mike

Throw the Bosch +4's in the trash, they are crappy plugs. The extra ground straps just shroud the chamber, electricity only takes the path of least resistance. I've never had luck with Bosch plugs, and yank em from anything I see them in when I diagnose driveability issues.
Project looks to be going great! One of these days I WILL stop by and bench race for a bit when i'm in the city. Might be taking some Ford training there in the next month or so.
johnny... update is; zz430 is now mated to trans and on the cradle. new coilovers are ready to go in the car. all new suspension/bushings,bearings,balljoints,tierods is in the car. rough in bodywork is finished. car is mostly in primer. real f308 dash install is underway. brake mods are done. so far thats it.

Our local Fiero group wants to go the annual Fiero meet in Gunnison Colorado. It is usually around the July/August timeframe. I plan to drive the Mera up there.
