Just a word of caution on the isuzu... bad things can happen when pushing top speed in 5th. On my warmed over 2.8 and a 135mph run, something fragged and pushed either the input shaft or 5th gear through the bolt on end cap of the transmission. Car wouldn't downshift (only upshift) and I had to turn the engine off to re engage 1st gear at every stop sign as I nursed it home. The isuzu isn't a very strong transmission and the 5th gear gear set is not a very large assembly.

I hit about 160 mph in front of my house with a 5/8 mile stretch of road. There was a 50 deg turn in the middle of the run too. Obviously this was my IMSA.
I have no idea, im not into drag racing so never ever tried it. Prob not that good, it was a turboed 3.1 V6. I had a buddy that built engines for a Nascar Cup car team build it up during his off season. They also built the engines for my Nascar car, my 383 stroker for the Fiero and my drag boat. They sponsored my boat.

216mph in my porsche race car.... 2mph in my fiero onto the trailer lol mike in oklahoma
That is one impressive car to do that mph. I'm guessing it would be a substantial dollar investment and pretty stout upkeep costs to own a race car like that. Do you have a race crew that helps you out? What races tracks do you run it at? What class?

What's 6500 in 3rd gear with an Isuzu? Jumped on a Golf on an expressway ramp, before I figured out it was an R-something-or-other. Well over 85... My best guess is around 100-105 (automatic turning around 4k-ish, I'm not exactly sure; I don't like to look down at that kind of speed)
But I had a headwind
GPS indicated 117 at night... headlights increase drag.
If I remember correctly, the tach had about 700-1000 rpm to go before recline.
Tested brand new, the GT as I recall topped out at 126. Gearing or no, I don't believe any 2.5 doing better. My sons 86 2.5 with the Isuzu never topped 110, and he said it was done. I know a guy that claims he beat a Z28 with his ZX2 Escort. I have a 3800 with 50% more HP than before. The car is not going to top out any faster because the redline is still the same. It will get there faster, that is all.

I was doing 140 when my motor decided to go boom. This is a high mileage 2.8 I was trying to blow up so I could swap the turbo motor. Up hill pull Also on a full tank

Well... In my 91 Escort I did 137 roughly (( scary with some lift I want to add))... When I slowed down the cop finally caught up to me. Got a ticket for 90+
In the Fiero "as it was stock" 2.8 with a 282 Muncie, I didn't have any problem doing 90-100 in fourth but never got into fifth. I usually cruised in 5th at 80 though.
The Fiero now... built 3.4L P/R with the same Muncie 5 speed, I can't keep it from doing 90 - 100. It just wants to go.. I reached 118-120 or so in forth at 5000 rpm and had fifth to go but it's hard to go any faster out here in cali. My car is lowered and I have made vent lovers inside the headlight areas but with my chin spoiler now, I don't feel as much lift.

Same here, got around 125-128mph in my 88gt 5spd. My gps has a setting that records information; one of the items is top MPH...
My 88gt is a built/stroked 2.8/3.1 At around 110-115 the front starts to get light, at 125 it was a bit unsettling so I started to back off; that and the fact the motor only has 500 miles on the fresh rebuild. But it was still pulling strong when I let off.. I would have to say somewhere between 130-140 it would max-out

rodney... i am completely amused that you find the need to STALK me in every thread i have ever posted in here on pff. the time you have spent hijacking other peoples threads just to try to harass me. the time you have spent googling me, googling my companies, the time researching all the threads i have posted in here on pff. dont you have better things to do with your time and life? as you have noticed i have ignored you. i will continue to do so. this is the only response you will get from me as i dont really care what you think or say or the rumors you may try to start about me or my companies. as far as pics of my engines, monster trucks, sema pics, mera pics and whatever else you have asked/badgered about in the last week here on pff... other upstanding members here on pff have these pics you ask of and proof and will vouch for me. so you just seem to be making a fool of yourself for everyone else to see. actually several of us here have been watching you and laughing at you in pm's. i wont answer your questions, i wont put up pics to your responses, and i wont dignify your stupid remarks. you need to stop hijacking other people threads here on pff. dont trudge up this thread either. leave well enough alone if you dont have something positive to say. again i dont care what you say or think. dont waste other peoples time here on pff. mike

I dont really drive them all that fast. my 1st 86 was the fastest i ever had one when i maxed it out at 120 on the highway. My green car i think i only got that to about 90. My 87 i think about 80. IMSA hasent been out of my driveway enough but its not going to be all that fast. I did get my new turbo 88 3400 Up to 100 the other day when i was driving with a friend... backed off pretty quickley though.
I can tell you this though. With the way that car was built and it being an 88 it felt like i was doing 40MPH

Our fiero fastest drive... about 60mph. On trailer And about 15mph before trailer... but I still like her. Keyword - 'still'
Sounds like my 84
------------------
Better to be judged by twelve than carried by six. 88 3400SFI turbo...(snailin all day) (84 IMSA) garage queen (84 base) big orange firecracker (06 solstice) my vert Fiero
I was doing 112 in my 86 GT 5-speed when I was late for Easter dinner. I was holding that easily in 5th gear and had plenty of pedal left. I've haven't been over 100 more than a few times since I put my old Saturn off the road doing ~120.

I think I may have hit 1/2 mph going down the 3 foot ramp out of my garage onto Joey's trailer. Though, I had towed it home at 80 mph when picking it up from VA. Expect something a few hundred times faster in the near future.
On that note, I just hit 130mph in my 2010 V6 Camaro and it was still pulling strong! I was surprised at how fast it got there, actually. Even more amazing is how fast it slowed down when I nailed the brakes. It felt like I imagine a chute would feel, an initial JERK that doesn't let up which causes deceleration that pops out my eyeballs. Afterward the front rotors were stove top hot, I burned my finger just from a light, quick touch (that's a lot of car to slow down). I went puttering around for a while after that to cool the brakes more evenly so they wouldn't warp. The conditions were perfect tonight, 22 degrees ambient, near empty tank, and 35psi in all 4 of the 19's. I also took out all of my junk from the trunk and left the rear seatback down. What an exhaust note! I'm a lifelong Corsa customer for sure.
Got to about 125 in the 85SE V6 (scary floaty!). About 110 in the 84SE auto (maxed weakling). And have yet to get the 4.9 getrag above 90. I suspect with the larger diameter tires and higher redline I'll be able to reach 150+. Time will tell.
...I also got to 125 mark in the 88 GT and also experienced the floaty aspect - so I am kind of curious how those that have gone faster solved this problem (hood vent)?

In 87 when I worked for Pontiac I had an 87 GT 5-speed demo. I got up to around 125 playing chase with a Corvette of that vintage on I-25 in New Mexico. Then the Corvette took off again, and that was all the speed my Fiero had. Not too bad for a car with only a couple thousand miles on it.
