Kinda sucks I didn't get to work on it today. When I called my buddy this morning he was pretty bad sick so I guess I'm putting it off for a couple of days. I may just go ahead and put the intake plenum back on and see if its any better.

I got pics of these today. They are almost done. Still need the clearcoat. He tells me that he is redoing the Aux cluster bezel because it wasn't to his liking. Hoping to have back by the weekend.
Looking pretty good IMHO

I found these really cheap LED strips today at Wal-mart so I did this!

What a huge difference these make compared to the old 194 bulbs. I still have one rear marker light to do but thought I would share. I did a small write on how it was done if you care to check it out. https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/082794.html

Thanks about the only thing I am disappointed with is the paint job but, hopefully next spring I can respray and give her a good gloss. I can't wait to get all my bezels back and get them installed. I think the carbon fiber look is really going to set off my interior against all that black and grey. I will be posting pics soon. Parts should be back maybe this weekend or the beginning of next week. It is taking longer because I sent my door bezels later in the process so he could match them all the same. I still need to get another drivers side rear marker light to finish my LED install but they sure do look great anyway! Post some pics of your new ride so we all can see it. Make sure you subscribe to my thread so you can check out the new interior stuff when it gets installed.

Yep his name is Ron. I noticed a couple of days ago he has updated his website www.tvhydrodip.com with his most recent patterns and a few more samples. I talked with him a couple of days ago and it sounds like I will be getting my stuff back in a few days. I'll be posting pics for everyone to drool over!

Look what I got installed today. These look great and really set off my interior. In the pics it looks like there are a couple of blemishes on the pieces. That is 100% my camera the finish is fantastic and I dont think peel and stick overlays can ever compare to the quality of these pieces.
1st are my door handle bezels
Next is my instrument cluster.
Next is my radio and aux gauge bezels still need to install the A/C vents
Last is my shift surround. Wish I had a Fiero Thomas shifter boot to go with this right now! LOL
To all interested. Ron is a great guy to work with and as far as I'm concerned a new asset to the fiero community. Everyone should check out his website on the 1st page and see all the stuff they can do. He even showed me a cool laptop they did when he was here today. I am very pleased to have something a little bit different than everyone else. And for the money I have to say this is probably some of the best money I've spent on the fiero to get good bang for the buck
Got a little more good news today. My buddy at work is giving me his extra hood so I can tinker with making a vented hood over the winter. I was afraid to cut mine and screw it up! lol

I haven't abandoned this just been very busy lately! Might get a little done this weekend. Thinking of changing the color of the shift surround to match the grey. I think it will look better with the carbon fiber against the lighter grey plus then the radio and console will all be one fluid color from front to back with just black accents. What do you guys think?

I think you should leave it that way.. it looks nice.

Sorry gang haven't been updating much lately. I did start restitching my GT steering wheel but have not finished yet. A buddy is bringing me a hood this weekend to play with though. Going to vent it. Nothing too radical don't want to cut up my front trunk space. Will probably go the Carver1 way since he was kind enough to send me the dimensions from when he did his. On a side note I have been mulling this over for a couple of weeks. I bought my oldest son an IROC last summer and he has driven it for over a year now but he did not want to deal with it this winter since it is terrible on the Illinois slick roads. He is wanting to buy a truck. Thinking of helping him buy a truck and then pulling the tuned port out of his IROC for my little toy. I haven't dug into how much work this is yet but I would love to hear from some of you who have already done it.

Well I got my spare hood from my buddy last weekend. I already have it cut for venting. Started on it a couple of days ago. I must say it looks pretty good so far. Too bad my fiberglassing skills are minimal! lol Looking like I will have a lot fo sanding to get her smooth. My computer took a crap on me so I can't get any pics posted yet but I may be able to later if I can get the pics on this one. Can't wait until this mod is done. My boys think it looks awesome so far!!

So I got to get a few pics of my progress. You can all see how bad my fiberglass skills are! This is my first pass and I used mat glass for this one. I went to day and got some cloth. Looks like it will be tons easier to work with.
So this is after my first cuts.
This was to give me a better idea of how it would look.
Here I cut my spacer pieces to fit a little better before glassing.
Here is my first layer of glass. As you can see it is kind of rough and I had a couple of air bubbles under it that I have already sanded through to lay my second coat down. Any recommendations on how many layers I need to put down?
Not bad.. fiberglassing escapes me... i used to do housing insulation and had my fair share of days on end of having itches on pmaces i dident even know i had... keep up the good work donnie.

Thank god for PFF. My computer crashed a few weeks ago and my last backup was before I started working on the fiero so I lost all my build pics. Was able to pull them all back from here!!

So just a quick update. I have been sick for a little over a week so haven't gotten much done lately. I started finishing the underside of the hood just to dress it up a little before I pressed on with the top side. Not looking for perfection just didn't want it to look like a total hack job lol! So on with the pics!
These are after a couple of layers of glass and before any real sanding.
These next couple are after a bit of sanding and a shot of primer so I can see more of the bad glassing lol!
Tomorrow I will hopefully get to sand a bit of that primer down and start filling a few holes. Like I said I am not looking for perfect under here but at least presentable.

Well getting a little antsy to work on her some more. Trying to work a deal on a new to me set of tires and wheels and a set of eibach lowering springs. If I can work out shipping I think I'll be taking them. As far as the hood vent mod its still a work in progress. My skills with bodywork are just terrible LOL. WIsh I had a close friend to help me work out the small stuff. Going to get out there tonight and sand some more and hope it looks like something when I'm done. I love the layout of the cuts I made its just the stupid bodywork I suck at!

Just purchased these from fierochaser. Can't wait to see these on the car. Also checked into new shocks and struts today. Figure I may as well do it all at once if I'm tearing into it. These are 1" lowering springs and 18" tires and wheels. Here's a couple shots he sent me to check them out.

Thanks I have been checking into new shocks and struts too. Figured if I was going to do the springs I may as well put new struts and shocks in there too. Not sure how old these are on the car but I figure they are due. Can't wait to get these wheels on her though and get it outside for a few pics.

God I love these wheels. What a difference a new set of shoes makes on a car.
Doesn't stick out the sides of the car either. They seem to be a perfect fit. 225-40-18 front and rear on what looks like 18x7.5 with 35mm offset. Not really sure on the width. Doesn't matter I like anyway! LOL
Now I got to pull her outside tomorrow so I can get the passenger side on her. Still have to come back sometime soon and put the lowering springs on I bought too. Guess this old set of wheels will go up for sale in the mall soon.
Donnie- I want to make a hood vent on my car... I have a question: Did you leave those wood shims in place and fiberglass over them? Also, did you score the vents toward the windshield so they would bend? It looks like a score line. Love the job you are doing on this car.

Tbone yes I chose to leave the shims in place to add rigidity while I was applying the glass. Not sure if it was the right thing to do but I figured that the glass covering the wood would keep the elements from letting the wood swell or anything like that. Yes I did run a score line towards the windshied to help when I bent down the scoops. I also cut out the underside support pieces right where I cut so when I glassed the underside i had a more lever surface to glass too without so many contours and bends. Thanks for looking I was beginning to wonder if anyone was following my thread at all! LOL I still have a ways to go on the scoops because I am just terrible at body work and this glassing is a whole new thing to me. I am also pretty anal about it being smooth and not seeing the any imperfections. That might just be a pipe dream though the way I'm working on it!
