There's a DOHC 2.2 and a pushrod 2.2. They are obviously different engines.

Yes if you put in the 97-05 Eco with the F23, you're axles bolt right up. You'd need new mounts, to do some exhaust fabrication to keep your trunk, etc.

The pushrod 2.2 isnt an ecotec, nobody is disputing this.

Well... there's something you're not getting; the Ecotec won't bolt up to the '84 transmission. The 2.2 pushrod will.

Both. Any version of the F23 transmission can use the Fiero axles.
The Ecotec engine does NOT have the "standard" FWD bellhousing pattern that the 2.2 pushrod, Iron Duke 2.5, 2.8 v6, 3800, etc. have.

the 2002 cav/sunfire came with both 2200 OHV motor and the 2.2 DOHC ecotec .both are bolted to the F23 getrag but ONLY the tranny that came with the 2200 OHV motor is a direct bolt up to the 60* V6's .the ecotec bell housing is totally different and will not fit .2000 and 2001 years only came with the 2200OHV and did not offer the ecotec .i am not sure but i think both motors were offered in 2003 and 2004 but only ecotec for 2005 .
