Just getting settled after getting home at 1am. Going to work was an EXTREME struggle today! I could barely walk when I got out of bed this morning. Standing on COLD concrete for a total of around 30 hours in 3 days takes it's toll on previous broken ankles haha!
I will get the pictures and video dumped to the computer in the next day or so and post em up. I know you had to leave before they were 100% completed.... just wait till ya see the pictures of them after the masking tape you and I put on them, and they were all painted up. The one that fish-eyed due to a combination of the humidity, cold, and polished plastic, was redone and came out looking like they came from the factory!!
Thank goodness... that was crazy when the paint did that. I'm so glad it came out good the next day!
AHHH! 6 is mine!
What item does not belong in this pic... OUR CIVIC! LOL
Wanted to bring the indy, but it was good we did not as the rain was nuts Sat night!

Yes, John, what's up? Both motors were refurbished, but the one headlight motor needs a limiter switch. I had suggested to Dean that one be pulled from a local junk yard. Everything he had lost one of the brushes and nothing I have in my stock has the limiter switch.

I am trying to find another motor for the JP...guess what happened to me yesterday morning? My passenger side motor kept spinning!!! I immediately thought of you! I guess I will send you my pair as well as one for the JP as soon as I find one.

Since I came back home, I've been trying to deal with my Mom's hospital, medical and legal issues and I've had little time for anything else. I have a limiter switch, but the wires are hacked up and I didn't want to send that over. I guess they could splice in the harness connector and heat shrink the connections and make it work. We don't need a whole motor, just a limiter switch with both brushes intact. Doesn't matter what side, they are identical.

Ok, here is video coverage of about 7 to 8 hours of work on Saturday. It took an eternity to upload the video on DSL! Too bad we couldn't have actually worked as fast as it looks in the video!
The Video is available in 720p HD.
Note: Keep an eye on the roll of blue duct tape on the right of the table.... We started to move it a little at a time for the first couple hours for a "claymation effect", and then just forgot about it.... That and the fact that someone decided (at :38 seconds) that they needed some tape... I won't mention any names..... Nahhhhh a picture is worth 1,000 words, or so they say
At some point, the tape stood back up on it's own, and moved a few more inches... LOL

OMG I wish the taillight sanding/polishing was that quick. I would be like send me your lights I will polish them back to stock in 30seconds... Talk aobut awesome money! However I'm glad you can't see the massive layers of clothes I was wearing once working... 3 shirts with the top one being WAY oversized and then sweatpants over my jeans... that was not a cute look! I will have to tell Patty she is now on film forever...LOL
Well in the pic... Don "donster" is in the blue sweat shirt. I'm next to him in the black jacket talking about the car. Dean is in the green sweatshirt just at the bottom of the stop frame.... I will let the tape bandit speak for himself...

Let's see... That's The Donster on the far left in the bright blue sweater. Think that's Shannon next to him. At the table, with the duct tape (busted!) is TopNotch. Dean is in the bottom right foreground, wearing the dark green sweatshirt. I'm hiding on the far side of the open front compartment lid.
Edit - I thought that was Aaron in the car doorway, but it's not.

Ahhh... that was you! I was wondering...but with your face hidden behind the hood...lol
We need John to do a frame stop in a few places and we can have everyone point themselves out... We should have gotten a group shot mid day... told John I felt like everyone needed to have their avatar over their head like the arby's hat... LOL!
I'm still waiting on some more in process pics... at least for Sunday as I was not there...

I'll admit to being there, enjoying hanging out, donating a radio/cd unit, and even moving in and out of the video periodically, but I can't admit to being much help as I didn't have a clue what anybody wanted done to the car. I guess I should have taken more initiative. Just the same, it was nice to meet up with old acquaintances and to meet some new ones. Thanks Dean for hosting this event!

Don't feel like the lone ranger. I brought a few bits and pieces, but I don't think I did nearly enough.

I never feel like I did enoiugh. I wish I could have stayed and worked all week.
Neither did my wife and I. Besides bringing coffee and cake, all we did was stand around and look in awe how much others actually knew and what they were capable of. Wish we could have been more help, but the area around the car was congested, so staying out of everybody's way was help in itself! :-)

I don't think anyone there was wasted space. Everyone was important, whether physically contributing, or not. Cheerleaders don't make that game-winning full court last minute shot or kick the game-winning field goal, but they are a vital part of the process. Thanks to all who came and gave of yourself without expecting anything other than the satisfaction of helping someone.

Me either... we got there later then I would have liked... then everyone and everything was going 90 miles an hour... I was not sure what needed to be done & just felts like ummmm... help! I was looking for a white board or something with tasks to be done and who was doing them so I could grab something and go. I can do some stuff, but not everything and wanted to find something I could run with. I felt so lost through most of it. Everyone else looked like they knew what was going on... LOL! Heck I went to Dean to ask what I should jump on and ended up on a tour...LOL!
Cleaning / touch ups with Satin paint is usually my strong suit with all the car show stuff I do, but that was in process... Then the taillights called to me, so I jumped on them with John... Sucks that was my only contribution... even the parts I brought were duplicates that were not needed. But at least something got bettered because I was there, so its all good.
Seems projects like this almost need a whole planning day with task assigning to really take off without that "now what" delay we all felt. But when you stick it on a weekend on a fast paced schedual that is the least important part. Work is the priority! But I think the project was a success! Pats on the back for everyone involved be it a big or small part. It all added up to a big accomplishment!
Ya'll did fandamntastic, IMHO! Support is support, no matter if you're holding the pillar, or keeping the feet of those who are from sliding.
Thanks to everybody who recorded the event and took the time and trouble to post it all, for those of us who would've liked to be there and couldn't.
Complete success in my book. NOBODY should feel like they didn't contribute enough, just cause they didn't get their hands dirty enough. You showed up, that's what counts, again, IMHO.
Nice job everybody, thanks for sharing with the rest of us.

How was the wiring conversion done to switch from the 4 to the 6? I would like to do this to my wife's 84.
Dean can elaborate but, IIRC, there are something like 100 wire connections that need to be added in order to do the conversion. I observed some of this as it was happening. Obviously it's possible (this is like the 4th conversion they've done) but it's not something to be jumped into lightly. The wiring is documented, but I don't remember where.

I found the wiring info here on PFF but I do not remember where. it is a bit of a pain because you have to have a full 6 cyl engine harness as well as the car side 500 and as much of the pigtail as you can get. you also need to run the wires fron the drivers side to the 500 for the tail lights. and much more in the cab of the car like adding fuses and connections to the 203.
other parts you will need..... AC lines, 6 Cyl fuel lines, v6 throtle cable, exhaust and a few other things I can not think of at this time. but yes it can be done but it is not a weekend project. we have done them in a week but the first one took a bit longer. D.

I got there and saw the fender inserts and saw john with the satin paint and said you gonna paint them too... lol... then I saw him painting the underside when we were leaving Saturday. I was so happy I was not the only one who used those tricks... even the front under the hood got a satin treatment. Amazing how it cleans these cars up. Only thing I did not know is that the whole interior would be out. Had I known I would have brought some sound proofing. Made world of difference in mine.

I have always has great respect for those who can pull off engine swaps. So many think its just a simple weekend swap. I got so ragged because I opted for a 3.4 swap over a v8 swap on my 2.8 firebird. Seems so many don't realize the extras that go into it. I had it as a driver and knew I could not just take it down friday after work and have it ready to take me to work Monday morning. But still the arguments continued... just shows you how many don't really research
