There were factory T-tops, but I know for a fact that the Mustangs and Firebirds and Camaros were also sent to C&C to have t-tops installed. The C&C tops would have an "H" like frame that could be removed. It would still be a difficult if not impossible job. But if someone really wanted to do it I'm sure it could be done.

C&C did make retro kits for these cars but they are much more rare vs the Fiero kits. Generally if anyone wanted T tops in these cars they just ordered them from the factory. I think C&C even may have supplied some if not all the parts on the Mustang top. I have hand outs showing these tops from back in the day but to this point I have never seen one in person.

Anything is possible if you have enough money, time and skill but that does not mean it is the best choice. Lets face it with all the things people have done with a Fiero in body changes and engine changes we have yet to see anyone do this conversion yet to a Fiero. I get the hunch there is a reason.

I have not seen any of the other parts used.

Most people have a hard enough time getting the Fiero parts to fit right. LOL!

I'm fairly certain you are either not understanding anything I am saying, or you don't care.

Several years ago I had a plan to take the Engine from my wife's Grand Am, and replace it with a 3800. There was a guy, we will call him Richard, Richard said that A. Grand Am's never came with anything other than a 4 cylinder, and B. It was impossible to do.

I listened to him rant for about 20 minutes. I finally told him that if I had enough money I could put a jet engine in that car, and I walked away.

Richard still owns his own shop in town, that's right he's a mechanic, certified and everything.

A few weeks later the car was totaled out by her brother, but that's not the point here. Just looking at something and saying it is not possible is sorta sticking your head in the sand.
Here is one similar to what I was thinking. http://www.cwscc.com/vb_for...?p=81052&postcount=1

All I am doing is trying to figure out if there are other possible conversions out there that could be used instead of the Fiero top. Out of the thousands of possibilities there has to be something that is close, and if I can get close, I can make the rest work with fiberglass and metal work. I can strengthen a frame if needed. The main point here is that I think that there has to be a way out there to get a T-Top conversion into the Fiero with new working seals for less than it costs to do a Fiero conversion. From what I am seeing, the cost to buy a T-Top frame, and install it on a Fiero is outrageous, and if you later need a replacement window you are really going to pay.

So, I am looking for a top that is similar in width, length would be nice too. Fairly widespread with a decent aftermarket following. To the junkyards with a tape measure!!

I accept and understand you point. I may not agree but I know what you are saying.

Now please understand I know anything is possible with enough money, time and skill. Just my point is there are good T tops that come along complete if you watch you can get a good set for a good price complete. Not all of them are gouging. The T Top kit is like using the right tool to for the job at hand.

In terms of the amount of work, cost and final fit and finish quality of the job I find it would be difficult to do this job much cheaper. Just my view. There is no need to agree of disagree it is just my opionion. I think the lack of any well done finished examples of this T top transplant with the great many things done to the Fiero are a sign I might be on to something.

Chopping a roof is much easier than doing this kind of a transplant.

But if you want to attempt this by all means I wish you luck and hope it works out. Good Luck!! {I really mean it!] We may not agree but I wish you no failure!!!!

Thanks for posting a good example of how you can get a complete kit. You can part out the rest of the car or even scrap it to get back more money once you have what you need. I would not be suprised if you let him sit on it and made an offer in a month or two you might get more off. This is often the best way to get a full kit resonable.
