The bars are made of 2"X 3"X .083" and the base is 1"X 3"X 1/8". The base is not welded in yet. I'm going to take a couple of days off this week to work on it. I'm going to start driving it soon and am going to need insurance. I got a quote from grundy and they want $105 a year but they limit driving to to and from shows. I want to be able to cruise it too. Any recommendations for collector car insurance?

Not my cup of tea with the roll bars, but to each his/her own! I like the rest of the car though. When I had my roadster - 85 GT - my biggest complaint was people pulling themselves our of the car by the A piller/windshield corner ... But other than that it was a FUN car! (Even in the rain!! LOL)
I don't want to be mean, but I would get some round tubing for the head rollbars instead of the sqaured kind . They look like you did a great job, but don't flow with the car at all. Great work so far.
The Fiero coupe is basically a flat, slap-sided design, so square tubing may look better on a coupe body. However, the GT rear clip brought some roundness to the rear end, so round-tubing might also have worked style wise. But the first thing I noticed was the height, not the square tubing. I’d bring them down about three inches. I have a feeling the reasons the manufacturers of those cars you showed avoided round tubing is because it could be considered old-school. A custom interior specialist should be able to style them anyway you want. I’d leave them flat on the top and sides, but with the use of fiberglass, balsa wood or padding, give some roundness to the front and back of the hoop, then have them covered in matching seat material for a cohesive look. For a neat trick you could add CHSL into the back of each hoop. It is looking good, Corvette torch red would be a great exterior color.

Someone wanted this earlier. Kit seems to be sold in pieces so think you could by just the b-pillar piece if you are not interested in the whole convertible. http://b-bspyder.com/FieroConvertibles.html
Where did you get those LED lights from??? I have access to a roadster that was a t-top car, dont worry it is an 86, that I am thinking of pick up and bringing back to life. This thread is great, I love roadsters and I love the fact that you chopped up another GT!!! WOOHOO!!! Keep it up folks, My Notchie will be priceless soon enough!!!
This is the best looking taillight mod that I have ever seen. The only reason I do not care much for taillight mods on the GT body style, is because I really like the "Pontiac" in the light itself. This is the best of both worlds. You have an updated looking mod, with LEDs and you kept the "Pontiac"
I 'm almost done with the bodywork. My garage is under the kitchen and I thought spraying PPG K36 primer was going to stink the house and upset the neighbors. No problems. I won't paint the car in my garage I'll worry about it in the winter. I am going to put the car together and drive it. The insurance paperwork came today and I'll register it on monday. I feel like roadster cruising!
I finally heard from B&B and they are laying up a windshield header for me. I should be able to get it in 2 weeks!

They are intellitronics / cyberdyne from either summit racing or JC Whitney. I built it a few years back. Total parts were around $400. It really made the speedometer issues with the drivetrain swap easy.

Did a little roadster cruising today! I have the driver's seat belt temped and the permanent ones on the way. Are there any other sources for the windshield header? I may not have time to finish mine. Also are there any good pics of people's windshield headers? I'll post some more pics soon.

I don't know what is going on with B and B, a lot of people seem to be having trouble contacting them. Bill was always pretty prompt in replying in the past.
When I did talk to bill he said that they just got back from vacation. That was Friday. He said to call tuesday when he had a header ready. Several calls and voicemails later and I still haven't heard from him. Not what I call customer service.
The car is almost back together, I ordered the 2" belts from Crow Enterprizes. They should be in next week. I temped the stock belt, but I dont like it.
