It's been a whole lot of red Fieros comming out of Archie's place lately. I wonder what color is the one comming from Mexico?
Question: Are you gonna chop the one from Mexico? Have you move yet?
Well, actually my Fiero its a silver one including the rims, its the same color as your fiero, with the difference of my Fiero being a notchback instead a fastback, here its a picture when George Ryan was loading the car in to his trailer :
For more pictures of the car and the story behind the trip from Mexico to Archies, take a look at the following thread:
Here we start taking the old engine assembly apart. Because the transmission is bad, the only things we are really going to re-use of this assembly are the Wire harness, A/C compressor, Alternator & engine cradle.
Here is what was wrong with the transmission. The seal is totally missing (what was left of the seal was on the inoard Tri-pot when we pulled the axle) The bearing is totally gone & there is no oil left in this transmission. We don't know if the seal seal failed and the oil leaked out & the bearing burnt up or if the bearing went out then took out the seal.
More tomorrow.

Sorry about the bandwidth thing a little while ago. We just changed the web site & mail server to a new host & they had not properly set our bandwidth setting. It's set right now. Mike Orme is my webmaster & I would have had no idea how to correct this bandwidth thing late on a Friday night. But, Mike was there for me again & handled it in stride.
Ok, today's report. Time to start putting the engine together.
Need I say more?

Archie, Care to reveal any details on the new digs, or did I miss it in another thread?
Jim
Hey Jim, how you doing?
The new place isn't a done deal yet. The Woman that owns the building is a real FLAKE. I've been trying for 2 months to close this deal already.
I really like this building but Wednesday f this week I faxed her a letter that gave her 10 days to close this deal or I'm going back to looking for another building.
Once something is final, I will post the info up here.

Why is the area between the A-pillar and the door shaded out? Something special going on here?
This is were you cut to lay the windshield back then weld it back I assume Archie wants to keep some things a secret of the trade that is why it is blacked out. I don’t think it matters because any one that can do it themselves will and if you can not you will call Archie for a professional chop.

You people th ink too much. Archie has let people look at the cars at his shop just about anytime they want. He's put on open houses numerous times allowing dozens of people to wander unattended. If he put that black spot there, it was because that spot was unfinished and didn't look as good as he would like. 99% of the people viewing probably wouldn't have noticed had it not been pointed out(myself included)
anyways, Progress is looking good. You guys don't waste any time.
Is this car just getting a chop and a v8, or is something else lined up for it?
His attempt at humor was coloring over the area between the A Pillar and the door? I was suspecting you were having lambo or suicide doors installed when I spotted that grey triangle in the photo.

Suicide doors wouldn't effect that area. I don't use customer cars to learn on, so I don't plan to do Lambo doors until I've practiced on one of my own cars.
You see there are a few of us that keep ourselves entertained by watching all the guys doing their own chop tops. We watch them cutting up Fieros without knowing where the cuts should be & why. All that little blob is doing is covering up a weld to help insure many months of continued good entertainment.
