These are just 17's, but the look will be followed through in the future with a different wheel combo. I've always loved wheels with black centers... they look especially sweet in my opinion, because it gives the car a more visceral feel, and ultimately purposeful presence... or a little "anti-bling" as I like to call it. Subtle, yet brutal. No BS...

My buddy put black chrome wheels on his new Charger. They just look like dirty chrome wheels. Im not fond of anything bigger than 17" myself on anything except trucks. Thats just my opinion though. With the right color, black with polished rim or lip looks fine.....in 16/ 17 inch.

Well it took long enough to make up my mind (nearly 2yrs, 1-month), but going black-out center won out (by Ebay default, hehe). Thanks guys for weighing in your votes.
Now for the rears.

On this page is the site that makes the "Black Chrome" plating. HRE will ship the 3-piece (center) to the Black Chrome shop. I don't know the turn around for this process, but, HRE told me they can build the rim in 4-weeks flat!
Bump for someone, hehe.

Black 547R HRE w/ polished outer lip and clear coated inners.
Bored out mounting center for reduced weight @23 pounds and serial #s for replacement parts (if needed). One of the benifits to purchasing a 3-piece rim....you bend them, they have the parts.

When you sometimes go black, you never go back. The original owner lost it during a major accident. Nice set of HREs with two of the rims in need of repair. Hmm. I wonder if the fronts would fit???

What is your vote with having a totally blacked-out deep dish DUB HRE 547 or a HRE 547 black-center w/deep phat chrome lip? Tires to be used: 345/25/20 on the rears which I already have.
Goal? Black V8Archie chopper with a present that is Stealthy, meaniest, and nastiest Mad-Max look. MinntgreenGT has helped with his photoshop skills. Now all I need is a vote. Now on with the examples:
Exhibit A: (not a true representation of a phat lip but you get the idea)
rims: #a - Black Center (w/chrome trim bolts)
pipe check; three years later

I swear if I see another set of black wheels with the polished lip on ANY car i'm gonna scream!!!!! I thought the look was pretty cool about 5 years ago when almost nobody did it because it was cool looking and different. NOW in the past year or so EVERY OTHER CAR ON THE FREAKIN ROAD has got the black rims with as polished lip AAAHHHHH!!! Anyone remember the 30th anniversary Trans AM wheels that had the blue anodized centers and polished lip? That would be amazingly cool on a fiero! Anyone else in agreement?
I'll agree with you, but that doesn't mean I won't buy a set for our black Fiero, lol. But you're right the look has been around for awhile, but like a lot of trends, sometimes it takes awhile for people and wheel manufacturer's to catch up to trends. I don't care for the all black wheel look because I thought the whole point of having nice wheels was so that they could be seen, but that looks is popular too. I think color-matching might eventually catch on (yellow car, matching yellow centers, red, red matching centers, or black car, yellow wheels, etc. But again, sometimes it does take several years for a trend to go mainstream. But I'll tell you, I'm just glad to see the variety of wheels available for our cars, because there was a time when 16s where impossible to buy.

Blacks center rims/chrome/polished lips are as common as mom's apple pie and I doubt it's a fad; most likely will be around for many years later. Even our 1990 concept has them; Truely an American classic.
