I would've posted this problem I had earlier this week https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/094322.html but I didn't see this thread because I was so consumed with the tech section at the time! Well, problem was solved and today, not so much Fiero related I went to reset my timing after removing the distributer but forgot I toasted my gun the last time I used it because I had the clamp to close to the manifold while I was paying attention the the timing light
I'm off to Autozone to buy a new one Marc

The new can of spray paint IO opened up for my rear suspension parts had no nozzel on it. Too late to take it back and the nozzels I tried on it all leaked. Oy.

Mine ate the alt/WP belt today about a mile from work. The ol' Iron Duke got a little bit hot, but luckily not hot enough to break anything. Went and got a new belt, refilled the coolant bottle, checked the oil and fired it up. No problems so far.

No problems - just opportunities....lol Opportunities to spend more money that is. Off to Autozone once again..... I should buy stock in that company.... Got enough points to rebuild the cradle/suspension!
Nothing has gone wrong lately, which is really nice for a change... unless you count the weather being too hot ( or wet ) to continue forward with a planned body swap.

this maybe moot sence I didnt read all the replys, americasfuture2k, have you upgraded to a heated o2 sensore yet?
i did. and the last one was soo F'd up. it was making all my tune reading to be off, then it just failed completely. making the ecm tell the fuel pump and injectors to dump ever bit of fuel that is possible with a walbro 255 and 3800 sc injectors. that sucked almost a whole tank in 7 miles. that was bad.
i replaced my OPSU with one made for a guage, and it still pegged out when the FP was on. either some wiring is wrong, or the parts store sucked again and gave me the wrong part.
tried taking my headlight (just the bulb lens piece) out and couldnt get to the bottom retainer ring screws. anyone care to enlighten me on how to?

My 87 idles great and runs better especially when the engine cold with my new 3 wire o2 sensor. As for header bolts falling out, I've had that happen once whereas I put a lot of anti size on them and didn't make them tight enough. Ddint want to chance break any off later if wanted to take the header off.

Wait...nothing has gone wrong with your Fiero in the last 10 years? just a worn out Alt.? Thats crazy!! Looks like you got the good one
Not a big deal. I got it at about 40,000 miles and it has about 70,000 now. It had detailed maintenance history and was owned by a car nut. I would expect any car to be relatively trouble free over that mileage range. I did clean the injectors once to cure a unsteady idle.
Took mine to a friend at a shop to have the balljoints, upper A arm bushings, and outer tie rods replaced (before any of it could cause a serious problem). Friend called today to say he broke the A arm trying to get the old bushing out. So now I have to go to the junkyard tomorrow and hope the Formula out there still has it's front together.
Wish me luck

Actually, hope nothing is wrong with my 86GT. Hurrican Gustav just went through the area and stuck on the other side of the planet. Will not be heding back to the states until the 12th. Have not been able to contact anyone to go over and check the car out for any damage. Yes, it was garaged.

On this what went wring theme, Fieros have more than a few things going against them whne it comes to be reliable: Frist off; the newest ones are 20 years old! How many 20 year olds do know you that are reliable? Like any car that old, it will issues. They are not from a time not known for really high quailty, not from U.S. auto makers anyway. Most have been owned by sport car nuts, which means they have been beat on a lot. Lots of them have been modified and not always correctly. That said: I don't think they are more prone to porblems than any other U.S. car from the 80s. Bottom line; if you want a very reliable car, don't a get very old one.

i went out to get a datalog of darth's newest tune for my car. other than it being almost there, everytime i would shift hard and feel the motor rock, i would blow the INJ 2 fuse. merlot told me that there is probably a wire that grounds out when the motor rocks like that. so i need to pull off the upper intake, correct the problem and then get it on the road again to continue more tuning.

All the Parking lights were on when I got back from dinner yesterday. Switch is off. Lights are on though. Can't stand electrical problems. It's like finding a needle in a haystack. Well, ...at least it started and I was able to get it home. Disconnected the battery for now. Deal with in a couple of days.

Well, good news today...The company I bought the lines from refunded 100% of the cost. Used that money to buy Russel lines from Summit.
Otherwise...No news, good or bad.

Before the technician smogged, he could not get the rear deck lid to release. After a couple of tries it did release so I guess it was kidding around with him. Also noticed a long thread of spider's silk hanging underneath so my last wash job must have gone horribly wrong.

In my first day of Fiero ownership, drove my new 86 SE V6 home 245 miles, and had the RF brake caliper stick closed 2 miles from home... glad it waited that long to stick, and glad I made it home OK!
drove home from work seems the idler pulley is going, and on top of that when i fiered it up a few hrs ago the engine lght came on but went back off, i have a leaking exhaust that i just replaced, my coolant disappears but cant locate the leak, and im 2 qts low on oil every month or so. GOTTA LOVE THE DUKE

Dang! My car must be cursed by my posting in this thread. Noticed a thin line of brake fluid drool on the front firewall under the clutch master cylinder. Hopefully this isn't the beginning of the "bad replacement master cylinder/can't bleed it properly" syndrome.

Did a early morning quick accel run from a roll on a deserted road ..sorry about the chopy vid , youtubes fault
and then the SES light comes on and stays on.
Code 43.
ended up being a bad sensor that apparently had been going out for sometime cause after i put a new on in my car felt like it was much quicker with a much better idle and drivability

What went wrong with my fiero. Well lets see to start friday i got my stuck spark plug out(when i changed my spark plugs 2 weeks ago i couldnt get one out and well i finnaly got it out ).... well most of it... the rest is still sitting in the head but as the pictures will show theses things havent been changed in a while..... a LONG while. so today thinking i could get it done in a day (should have known better) i attempted to take the head out. Yea well that didnt last long and now its going in to storage for the winter.
Today my car started to die as I was cruising on I-595. I made it off the interstate and pulled off to the side. Waited 45 min for the tow truck and had it towed 13 miles ($85 hook up--$5 per mile--10% fuel surcharge--$165 ) It is still raining so tomorrow will be a troubleshoot day before I go to work at 3PM. This is on my LT1.
Here is a pic of the same thing that I had on my 87 this past year. Also included is the tool that I made to remove the left over threads from the plug. It took sometime but both broken plugs came out.
The tool second from the right hand side is nothing more than an extractor welded to a socket.

Overflow tank mounting ears both broke off of the tank yesterday. So the tank drops down in to the cooling fan. I had the AC on so it was a heck of a noise. Looking for a good used tank.
