Heck I can't go away for more than an overnight trip in my Fiero. My wife has a habit of taking 10 pieces of luggage for an overnight trip and when I tell her that we only have room for one small wheeled carry on, she still brings another soft carry bag that she stuffs in the front. She says I need several changes as you never know what the weather will be like or what occasion I will need to dress for. Its a losing battle. No Fieros on more than two overnights and you want to go cross country???? You are a brave man but since you are now a swap shop perhaps you can develop a bigger front trunk insert made especially for women who like to travel. However several years ago in an old FOCOA magazine there was a story about a 71 yr old woman who drove solo going cross country in a 2M4. I guess that its possible but she may have used the passenger side for luggage space.
Dennis, Joey will have to have a talk with you at Tech Day on Saturday. Her road trips are normally straight through with little breaks. Her duffel bag is on the passenger seat most of the time. Last year, she drove from our house to Baton Rouge, to Boston, to our house with only a 30 minute shower and change of clothes break. Then she slept for two days. She disn't want a/c in the VR6, but I insisted on a/c in the 3800s/c swap. I used the GTP pressure sensor so the ecm would control the idle and I'll be making the a/c hoses in house....and may concider doing some via mail order with the port for the GTP sensor if wanted. we had a Tech Day/BBQ for the GSF club. All in all, it was a great day. The weather was perfect. Here are a few pics of me and my wife Joey to start....
Here is an outside shot of the turnout...
Kids playing the Nintendo Wii in the shop. (Every shop should be equipped with a Wii)
Guru explaining the ins and outs of the alignment..
Alignment rack turns into a nice buffet table...
Abe and Joey
My youngest daughter walking our dog....yes, we brought the dog out for the day.
The truth...the end....

I will be offering a/c hoses in the very near future.....with or without the a/c pressure sensor fitting for the 3800 compressor for those that use it. Dave

I will be adding you to my list for needed parts, Dave.

Depending on when you offer them (if you do), I may be interested in the A/C hose setup.
Got my order in and I'm ready to make some a/c hoses. Sorry about the bad pic, but only have my cell phone here today. As of now, I'll be looking for $100 and the supplied donor hose ends. I'll replace the rubber barrier hose with new. To add the fitting for the 3800 pressure sensor, add $15.00 I'll post up finished pics of the product as soon as I get the chance. I'm also looking into the possibility of fabricating the hose ends so that there won't be a need to send me the donor hose ends and save shipping/having to buy the 3800 hose. Dave

Good to see the kids getting dirty... I hate it when parents follow their kids around with cleaning supplies. They gotta get dirty or they will just be sick all the time later in life.
She almost has a 5 o'clock shadow in that pic. Looks like a great time, I wish it wasn't half a continent away...
I don't have the 3800 side fittings. is it something you can source?

pm sent. I can source the 3800 compressor fittings and make lines without the donor hose. I want to test the system w/o the discharge line muffler to see how noisy it is. I can always use the muffler from the Fiero donor hose and braze it in. The issues I have with the a/c setup right now that I want to correct is that the lines make the back side of the engine (firewall side) too busy. I have my ignition coil mounted to the firewall down low, so I don't want to make the tune up more complicated by stuffing the a/c hose right on top of it. The 3800 compressor fittings are almost up against the starter. My solution is to change the angle of the compressor fittings to a downward 45 degree angle. Leave the muffler in the same distance from the compressor and have the 3800 pressure sensor (if used). The current hose I built has the stock Fiero and 3800 fittings, and the pressure sensor installed. It seems to be functional, but I really think it could be bettter. I'll start playing around with some stuff and see what I can come up with. Dave

yea, because that will overpower the sound of the flowmaster on it i doubt most people will care or even be able to hear it over the exhaust they choose.
We even used a new OBDII connector and pins. We did not cut one out of the donor car...especially when the connector was $10.00
Dave
Nice job. The pins used, where did you purchase them and was how did you remove the pins in order to connect the wires? Did you use a special device to remove the pins inside the connector? I had a very, very hard time trying to remove one last year. My fingers still hurt whenever I see my ECM, hehe.

To remove the pins, there is a multi purpose tool that does most connectors. Any electrical supply place will have it. They can also locate the proper pins you will need. The a/c lines I made are using the factory 3800 connection, but I have sourced a way to obtain the 3800 ends without buying a hose set. The only issue is they don't have the muffler. I'm going to try a set on my personal car to see if it is going to be a noise issue before I plan on selling that hose setup. Here is a few cell phone pics of the hoses I made with the 3800 pressure sensor installed. Dave

I'm not at liberty to say.....and in all honesty...I really don't know what it will look like. I dropped the car off at the body shop months ago and Joey went there and changed the whole idea...color and all. As far as I know, it is getting reassembled right now, but i have no estimated timeframe as to when I will be allowed to see it. Dave

I know there are variables, but just wondering ballpark.
Depends on how involved you want to get. The Haus charges $50.00 per hour (which is very cheap compared to my main business at $90.00 per hour). I also don't bill every single hour. I'm not a clock watcher. The 3800s/c swap I just did on page one and two of this thread came to about $4,000 in parts and I'd estimate around $3,500 in labor. Keep in mind that I used a new starter, a/c compressor, 3.4 pulley, idler pulleys, 160amp alternator....basically I wanted to be able to take it across the country in a moments notice. The work done is comparable to someone else's Stage 2 install at a much cheaper price. We are also fabricating the a/c lines and I will be selling them to the public. The wiring harness is done in house with all new terminals, but I won't do a mail order harness because the wiring is so precise in the way I wire it, it would be impossible to do it the way I want without having the car here. Feel free to ask any other questions. Dave

I'll be needing some a/c lines with pressure sensor port when you get them into production. Any idea when that will be?
if you have the donor hoses, you can send the ends to me and I'll make them up in a day. Otherwise, I'll have some made up for inventory within three weeks. Dave
I hit the junkyard for the 3800 A/C compresser-side piece. Unfortunately, the one I got bends the wrong way, but already has the sensor mounted to it. I was in a hurry, so I didn't think about the bend going the opposite way (oops). Are you able to maybe straighten it? I will try to post a pic when I have time later.

I guess it is time to update this thread. I've taken on completing Sabooo's car from this thread. https://www.fiero.nl/forum/F.../068188-10.html#p367 I am also taking on a custom turbo swap for another member. (to respect privacy, I'll let him post up any details or pm me what he feels comfortable with me posting) In addition, I am doing a complete rewiring job on a 1987 GT to make the harness into a high quality and yet simple unit. The instrument cluster will be updated as well as some other interior and suspension mods. When the VR6 finally comes back from paint we will be installing a custom suede headliner and prepping it for the long, hard miles ahead. Joey put around 5000 miles on it within the first month or so. I have a feeling the car will see over 30,000 miles on it within the first year. Dave
