Yes, everyone, myself and Angelica, please keep this thread on topic. Any more talk other than of the car, please take it to PMs. People have and will lose interest in her project with all the useles banter in here. Thanks for understanding.
Edit: Also we will be working on this car all day Saturday so look forward to some long awaited updates. Our goal for Saturday is to get the old gas out, start buttoning up the exterior and interior of the car, and hopefully figure out why the clutch is seized.

No offense to well intentioned parties, but I'm unsubscribing from this thread because I'm tired of my inbox filling up instantly with notifications of pointless posts. I'll try to remember to check in every now and then to see progress because I really do want to follow, but no promises that I'll remember. :/
I do wish you the best of luck Angelica and Andy, and hope to see some more Fiero resurrection surgery soon.
Thank you We're working on it this weekend. Hope you read into it

We decided to backtrack a little by removing the body panels and check the rust situation on the chassis. So we started with this:
And ended up with this:
I was pleasantly surprised that the chassis was not in bad shape at all. Not perfect, but perfectly usable. Today was spent sanding down the rough spots, then removing the inner fenders and pressure washing the 28 years of road grime and crap out of the cradle, suspension, and chassis. After that, the rough spots were primered. All of this was in preparation to apply Chassis Saver, a very good chassis coater. To the tune of $120 a gallon good. So here's some pics of today:
The rust that we found:
Ang at work knocking down the rust
After a good pressure wash
And this is the 'liquid gold'. I call it that because at $120 a gallon, it better freaking be made of gold. POR-15 can't seem to be found in my area.
We managed to get the old gas out and replace with fresh gas, replace the fuel filter, and tighten up the alternator belt as well. We also found out the clutch issue. Turns out the slave cylinder is siezed. Thank God for small miracles, I was hating the idea of having to do the clutch. That was today!

Wow another person from PA get that car done asap we need to get more peeps to runs with. i just got my 2nd fiero on the rooooooad. not sure where east berlin is at. there are 2 berlins. one up north near towanda and other near lewisburg new berlin. if you are up north you see many of my trucks infinity
Awesome progress! That was a really good idea to look for rust and fix it now, rather then later when it can be very damaging. Found this out the hard way with our white 88 coupe. I was in the middle of dropping the cradle and happened to look at the driver's frame rail. I'm just say that when i looked, there wasn't much too see.

Aww. When I took the panels off, the back right side (if you're looking at it from the front) of my trunk was rusted away. I could see the carpet, through the rust, it was terrible.

Everyone, I finally have a clutch!! We went outside a little tonight and we fixed me clutch and replaced my cylinder. Dad did that, because I didn't know how to, but dad also replaced the break fluid in the car. P.S: It was freezing!

Translation: After some troubleshooting, we found that the problem with her clutch was a siezed slave cylinder. We ordered a new one from RockAuto, and replaced it tonight. After bleeding it with my MightyVac, we now have a clutch. And the break fluid we replaced was the clutch master fluid, so technically, yes, we replaced the brake fluid.

Awesome news! I'm sorry if this was said earlier, but does it run?

Hey everyone. I'm on Matt's computer and wanted to tell you guys that today in Ohio is going great so far. A friend of Matt's came over to show us his Fiero. And I gotta say that thing was AWESOME! I really liked Alex's car. Ohio's great. Also went to Lake Erie(just something I want to throw in randomly)

Well, with some warm weather today, we managed to get a lot of the chassis coated. This stuff should help the car stay alive for many years to come. Sorry, I didn't get pictures of Angelica and I putting this stuff on, mainly because this stuff is like tar, and I wasn't about to touch my phone.
In the next coming weeks, we are going to be completely going over the suspension and brake systems. I have a full set of control arms, new poly bushings, new wheel bearings, and new ball joints to put on. We will also be replacing the brake calipers, hoses, and pads, and turning the rotors. Our goal is to make this car as close to new as possible.

Hulli- hey looks awesome I just found this thread and wanted to say HI!. I stopped by and bought that formula I talked to you about. I stopped by with it one night but no one was home.
That did that Liquid Gold bush on? Was one gallon enough for the entire chasis?

Hey Lee! Congrats on the purchase! Stop in anytime. As for this stuff, we did most of the chassis and used maybe 1/8 of a can so far. I can most likely get all three of our cars out of one can.

Hulki U & Angelica. - Just wanted to say that it's been awesome reading through your thread and seeing the progress via your posted images. I'm looking hard at an '88 Base Coupe so that my 12 year old son and I can do the same thing, customizing it and replacing the panels with some GT parts. You guys are inspiring, and like many others have said before, it's great to see a young lady getting her hands dirty working on one of these with her dad! Hope you guys are going to keep posting pictures as your work moves forward...I'm adding it to my favorites just so I can check back from time to time.

Thanks for the comments, guys. Axdrenalin, good luck finding the perfect car for you and your 12 year old to work on. The quality time spent wrenching on these little cars is priceless, and time that both of you will appreciate. Whenever you find that perfect project, let me know what all you need for it, and I will send you a free part to get your project underway as long as I have something you need.

Andy/Angelica - Are you all still interested in those black 5 spoke wheels we took off Meg's car? I can get them over to Wayne's place for the cruise/bbq if you'd like to get a good look at them before you decide.
You know. seeing as how she has a bare bones 84 I wonder if she has the MY8 transmission.
Andy told me when I was at their house last June that he thinks it is an MY8, not 100% sure though.

We were able to work on Angelica's car today for a change. It was hot, but we still managed to get a good 6 hours in on it. We started off by replacing the rear clip, as our old one was damaged
Old
New one thanks to chrishahnv8
I really have had enough of those plastic body rivets, so I used rivet nuts in place of all of the body holes that the plastic rivets went into. This is what I put on:
After compressing these into place, I was then able to use 10-32 machine screws to attach all of the body panels. This will also let me romove them quickly when it comes time to paint the car. Now most all of the body panels are on, we just need to get some aero door skins.
Then we started to tackle the interior. As we stated before we are changing the interior color from tan to a mixture of dark and light gray, so we stripped the car of its seats and carpet to expose the bare floor. There were a few oxidation spots bubbling under the paint, so I ground them out, and we chassis coated the passenger floor:
After pulling the driver's carpet, we revealed a surprise we never noticed before. It looks like someone had a mishap with a jack stand or something:
I was able to repair the whole by beating it back down, and welding the tear shut. I then chassis coated it, followed by some silicone to seal against any leaks.
Rivnuts are the best thing out there. They work on EVERYTHING. If you can get a set with tool, definately do so. I was wondering what happened to this car. Keep up the great work.
We were able to finally get out and do a little work on Ang's car today. We started out by changing the oil, as that oil was in there since dinosaurs still roamed the Earth. Next up, we put the air cleaner back together and put back on the car. The valve color is painted Aluminum, the intake tube of the air cleaner is painted Alumium, with a haze of Medium Blue, and the air cleaner lid is Aluminum with Medium Blue center. I think it turned out well.
We then set about putting interior back into the car. We managed to get the gray carpet in, as well as some of the gray trim and seatbelts. It's coming along.
