Ang scored a real nice set of floor mats from BackOnHoliday at the Lititz show this past weekend for the huge price of $10! This is what they looked like when we bought them:
And after using a degreaser and pressure washer:
We are starting to move onto the next phase of this project - ditching the 2.5 and installing the 2.8 long block that we got from mattwa. We have been trying to diagnose this rough running 2.5 for too long, and it's now also starting to smoke. So bye-bye 2.5, hello new engine:
And the repairs on the radio surround to make them nice and purdy again.

Is that aftermarket carpet like from home depot or is that actually fiero carpet? Regardless looks good. The reason I ask is because I have been eyeballing some home depot carpet for a while now.

That is Fiero carpet out of an '88 coupe. It's in pretty decent shape, some wear here and there, but all wear is covered up by the floor mats.

Well, this car's plans have changed. After doing much research on installing a 2.8 into an '84, I decided it would just be easier to find an '85-up donor car to install the engine in, and swap all of Ang's interior and exterior panels onto. We found a white '86 GT that we are picking up this coming Sunday. It currently has a 2.8/5-speed installed, but not hooked up, so knowing the condition of ours, it's going in the car. Ang saw the pictures and decided she wants to keep the car a fastback, so we will most likely just shove a little bit of love into that car and make it the way she wants. It kind of sucks, what with all the work we put into her '84, but this car will take much less time to get roadworthy. After all, Ang does turn 16 next month, so we need to get this car on the road so she can learn to start driving a manual trans.
Anyway, we've started to assemble the 2.8, and make it look a little nicer:

I changed my mind on something though. I'm getting rid of my car. Taking it apart, I think, and getting an almost complete 86 Fastback that's white. And in WEST VIRGINA! But, it was all my desicion. I decided that my project would be improved if maybe I got a better car and a better engine in it. So, we are driving to West Virgina this Sunday to pick up my new car. Sadly, all that work was for nothing over the years that I've had this car. All well, my car's going to be great and in upcoming car shows. HOPEFULLY!

Just dropped in on this thread. All I have to say is - nice. Its nice to see a teenager working on cars. Pretty car, what is going to be done with the '84 you currently have? You'll probably have the nicest car for someone your age in your area.
Plan on doing anything else to the interior of the new one you're getting?

Count yourself lucky. What I've learned About working on my car has come from talking with others and reading my manuals countless times to figure out problems and how to fix them.

We are planning to take the car apart and sell the pieces, I'm pretty sure. And, I doubt that I'll have the nicest car because in my school, most of the girls are spoiled to death, so they'll most likely get a fancy car for their 16th. The interior on my new car is gray(which is the color I wanted in the first place) and we aren't changing anything for the interior, except the steering wheel, the shift knob, and my radio.
Maybe not the best car, but definitely one of the fastest, at least my friends 88 GT is faster than my 530i, I have more torque but his pulls away from me above 65 pretty easily, and my car was by far the best one at my high school, I even beat a mustang at highway speeds.

Awesome. I hope when I start driving, everyone that has a fancy car will be jealous that mine actually looks better than theirs. I wonder if my new car would beat a Mustang????
Maybe a non-GT one 2005-now, because those suck. Chassis flex, underpowered engines with poor torque curves. The one I beat (about 4 months ago) is a 2009 blue convertible with a V6, and my car:
Shifting back to fiero talk, I want a fiero because of fuel efficiency and the sportier looks, hope to get a later model one and put in a digital gauge cluster of some sort, maybe a trans am or vette one. Good luck with this one, its a fun project, and you probably know a whole lot more about your car, which is good for you.

Yep and Thanks. I hope you keep reading to see what my progress is going to be on my new fiero.

Change of plans AGAIN: Tomorrow, my parents are going to load up the car, which is Maryland and is an 87 Notchback Fiero. This is a different car that's is yellow with black racing stripes. Sunday we are looking over the car, seeing what needs fixed up and what I can change about it. Changing the color and maybe the bumpers. That's all.

Well right now Darion, Steph, and I are sitting at a Pizza Hut in Maryland waiting to eat, and the new 87 is safely on the trailer out in the parking lot.

The new donor is now home, safely sitting on the trailer in the driveway. Tomorrow morning, assessment begins as well as some de-install, and re-install. So far what I've noticed is seats that don't belong in the car, interior is kind of raggedy, dash has some cracks, Grand Am wheels have to go, But a few good points were found too. Such as a very nice, newer Kenwood head unit, new rear speakers, chassis doesn't look too bad, and it has A/C. Here's a picture of it at Pizza Hut tonight, more detailed pictures of the car will be posted tomorrow as we are surveying it.
You guys change your mind like I change pants! ..Once every six months(symbol shot). But anywho, can't wait to see your efforts on this new car. I know you guys work quickly and efficiently.

We like to call it, "keeping things fresh". Anyway, here's some better pics of the new beast taken from today. The paint is better in pictures than in person, but it is a great 20 footer. It is peeling in a few places, but will be getting a new paint job by us in the spring. Ang likes the body panels on this car, and decided she did not want her aero body on it, so this car has become more of a replacement than a donor. She also likes these Grand Am wheels that are on the car, so they will be stripped and painted black with the aluminum outer lip. We did manage to fix a few things on it today, such as install her Blaupunkt, install a new HVAC head, install a windshield washer bottle since the original was missing, install a new front hood prop, and get the car running. At first it ran like a steaming pile of poo, but after it ran for a little it smoothed out. It's got a bad exhaust leak, the radiator has a hole in it, and it overheats. No big deal because it's getting a nice 2.8 anyway.
And this awesome, custom right front headlight prop rod
Nice! I actually was looking at that one myself, but decided i need one that I can drive back to my house. Good luck with it. Are you going to keep the Lemans stripes?

Nope, they're so outdated and I personally, just hate them. I want my car to be as unique and awesome as it can be. Stripes wouldn't make it unique, they're too used up on cars today.
I only like them on yellow, orange and blue paint jobs. But yeah they are a bit cliche. What colour then?
I don't like them at all. The colors are going to be blue and silver. It's going to be colored in a way I'm pretty sure no ones seen it before. It's going to be great!
is there any thing you need i might have cause im coming over on the 12th i do believe and would love to donate to you vcar what ever parts i have ...Tom
