How did I miss this ? This is awesome, Hulki. Car is coming along nicely. You got a tripple threat on your hands.....
1. She's pretty 2. She's good with tools 3. She can drive stick
You're gonna have all kinds of young boys a knockin' at your door. Better get you one of these if you don't already.......
This will be getting "cleaned" the night of my daughters first date.
Looking forward on the direction this car is going. I'll keep watchin' .

thats what I did with both of my kids. We got a free 86 se with a blown motor and had my daughter help out in cleaning and painting all of the brackets and pieces. She also helped in the assembly of the engine. It makes them appreciate what goes into a car and how much the parts cost if it has to be repaired. I can say that she has treated it very well and no accidents like most of her friends. She seems very proud of it and the fact that she helped in getting it rebuilt. 5 years later my son inherited it and we changed it over to a 5spd because he wanted to drive a stick. That was 6 years ago and he still drives everyday. He also takes great pride in it and the fact that he helped to rebuild it. We are working on a 3800 NA 5spd 88 formula for him to have next. It was bought from a salvage yard for $700 and was complete but not running. I wouldn't trade the time spent working on these cars with my kids.

The repair work is looking awesome. You got a great kid there! When it's all done, she will take very good care of it. Can't beat that bonding stuff either.
Damn her cuts are almost as good as mine. unfortunatley i dident fix my frame i just junked the whole car. good to see you got some stuff done today though. it was a nice day for it.. i got a few things done on the imsa as well.
It definitely was a nice day to work on the car. I'll have to check out your IMSA build thread and see the progress you made.

They already do knock on the door. I give all of them "the talk" about what could happen to them if they do the wrong thing.

Thanks, Christian. I will relay that message to her. She will be getting her own username on here this weekend, so maybe she will post in her own thread!

I totally agree. I know the time we have spent working on this car is priceless. Good to see we share the same values.

Thanks, Pat. I can already see by the finesse that she uses around the car, that she cares about it very much. Right now she's contemplating paint schemes.

Matt, there is NO WAY any of the other Fieros in my driveway are getting engine swaps before mine does. My wife is already hinting at a 3800SC in hers, and as I told her, mine gets a swap first, since I have been waiting the longest.

Hello, my name is Angelica. Everyone knows me as Andrew's daughter. But yeah. My fiero (as everyone knows it) is named Thunder. It's an 84 Notchback Fiero. Last Saturday, dad and I went to Chris C's house. They made me cut off a piece of a parts car that Chris has. They told me to start cutting with the saw, so I did and they started laughing at me. Grrrrrr..

Today was a BEAUTIFUL day, so we decided to spend it outside, working on my fiero. We changed the dashboard, put on the front bumper, change the fenders, and changed the center consule. The inside of my car is going to be gray. And the outside (right now) is black. Still cant figure out a color that I would like. Thunder is coming together pretty well

As she stated, we got some things done on Angelica's car today. Since she is not capable of posting pictures yet, I will post them for her:
Sanding down the front bumper prepping for primer and paint. It was pretty rusty but is all better now
Installing
Out with the old, in with the new
And the happy owner!
I didn't get a shot of the gray dashboard, but it is in. We also found we are short a gray shift console, radio surround, door panels, and instrument cluster pod. But right now her budget is short due to not being able to work until she turns 15. But the car is coming together nicely! It's actually starting to look like a car again.

Today was a very productive day as far as I'm concerned. First, we drove over to Chris Hahn's to cut the front corner off his parts car. Angelica did most of the cutting with the sawzall and ended up with this nice piece
And all finished up!
Angelica changed out her stock shift knob for a Hurst knob that AlanD was nice enough to give to us.
It was nice to see both headlights now going up and down. We also did manage to get the hood put back on, but for some reason it's not latching. We'll have to figure that out next time.
Looks real good Hulki / Angelica!!! Im glad to see that another part of that poor parts-Fiero is going to a good home! I really wanted to see a picture of Angelica with the welder in her hand, welding that piece in!
The aero pieces on the Fiero make it look SOOO much better!
Oh yea, When are you gonna take that welder and use it to make a short shifter for that car? It would be perfect with that aftermarket knob! Chris

That chrome / silver knob that you installed is an "aftermarket" shift knob.
The knob that you took off was the original knob (factory installed part), anything that you buy / install that is not a part that originally came with the car (or something that is different than stock / original parts) is considered "aftermarket"
Since Hulki is such an excellent photographer (and photoshopper) he could have taken a picture of you with the welding helmet and welder, then added some bright weld arc light, and had us convinced that you welded that corner on the front of your car! More +++'s to you!!!
