I think I've got it. I love this look. I pulled the taillights outboard a bit, added the stock reverse lights, and tinted the lenses. I'll mount bright white LED strips just behind the reverse lenses and extra bright LED bulbs in the taillights, and of course the stock reflectors on the rear fascia.
Edit to add the original for comparison since this post started page 3:

I'm absolutely unsure about those taillights, but when I saw the pic they reminded me of the 80-82 Corvette replacements. I looked them up again, and it just so happens that they're already LED's! Kinda pricey, but I'd buy them. You might be able to find them cheaper elsewhere, I'd think. Many vendors sell them (including on Ebay).
I don't know what the depth is, but they're 5" in diameter, so we can guesstimate based on the pics. Holding my tape measure up to two of the larger pics shows that the lens itself should be very close to 2.5" depth.

One thing about LED is the generation of the technology. Whelen TIR3 LED are 3rd Gen LEDs (latest technology, brightest) and what the police use. Fiero tail len is textured to disperse light from a incandescent light bulb. Newer vehicles that use incandescent light bulb have clear lens but textured reflective chrome to reflect and disperse light resulting brighter illumination. For LEDs non-textured tails len will give you the best and brightest results.

Molds for the first version are almost done. Had to make some changes, (as expected). Molds for the "blank" version will be started as soon as I have the first version fit perfected. (The "blank" version will simply have no mounting holes...)
Those Hella lights will look REALLY good!

NICE! Can you give me the Hella part numbers for those please. I am having trouble finding them for sale in the US.
You won't find them for sale, legally, in the US. I already went to my contacts at Hella USA when this thread first popped up, and was told that they could import them, but they are not DOT legal here yet.

Who cares about "legal"? Lots of mods done to these cars aren't exactly legal. I'm surprised you can't get them with the traditional "for off road use only". Anyway part numbers would help with my search.
Also the Elise lights are nice but to get 1 from eBay would leave me 3 short.

Randy, I know that you have a Lambo to build now but don't forget about the inserts...!
My fiberglass guy disappeared for a few weeks but just resurfaced yesterday. He called and said he has 2 sets done and was supposed to email me some photos but I haven't seen them yet. I'm more than a little pissed off about this right now, as he has a full set of good GT taillights and lenses I loaned him and my, (now chopped up), Kahines panel to use as a master. He's supposed to show up at my son's place to do some fiberglass work on the Lambo kit this week, hopefully I can corner him there

^ I want that design on my car, I'll be buying the 1pc GT tail light panel in the mall soon. Next is the LEDs and all associated materials, I don't know if I'll be sticking with the stock configuration or not, I like the stockers though.

Found this in a search and I am very interested. Bumpppppppp
It looks like I will be starting over on this project. My fiberglass guy ran off with a spare set of my GT taillights, a new Kahines taillight panel, a set of LED brake lights and a few hundred $ of my money. I'm out quite a bit of expense on this with nothing to show for it.
What I have in mind for an "insert" behind the OEM lens is really very simple and *should* be easy to make in fiberglass. When / IF I can find a RELIABLE and HONEST fiberglass person to deal with, I'll let you all know. In the meanwhile, if anyone else produces a nice insert to make this happen then I'll probably be one of their first customers and save myself further grief.

How about giving his name here in case this BOZO tries to sell it ..
That's really unfortunate to hear. As previously mentioned, it may be a good idea to post his name so he can't cash in on your hard work. I hope you don't give up on this. If it turns out how I think it would then I would be interested.
