It sounds to me like Johnny had and agreement with the person who owned it so it was technically Sold to him. Johnny decided to sell the car instead of going to take possession of it. If that's the case I don't think of it as a "Finders Fee" It looks like things are settled or at least getting worked out at least.
To me, the main flaw in the process was that there should have been a clause in the contract that made the finder's fee contingent on the purchase of the vehicle being completed by the person paying the fee. The reason being that the vehicle could have been a POS (which apparently it turned out to be) and paying a finder's fee for a junk vehicle of little to no worth and doesn't get purchased makes little sense. Contracts, real written documents with well thought out clauses, go a long way toward preventing stuff like this from happening.

Update: Still no word from Steve and no attempt to pay his bill.
Track him down and pay him a visit. You'd be surprised that some friendly conversation and gentle persuasion may get him to pay up.

NEVERDONE. May want to come back to an NTFC meet now. I think those you speak of left with loyde. I remember having the same feelings so I stopped going. Then I came back and my paintless, highest mileage car gets the butt end of a few jokes but it's all in good humor.

I have sent NEVERDONE a PM offering an apology from past trangressions (by anyone in our club, particularly me if I was the culprit) and an invitation to give us another try. I suspect his experiences were from a previous generation of members and does not really reflect the current cross section. I told him we struggle to keep and gain members... can't really afford to lose anyone these days.
It is a shame such negative comments were made about our fine club, and I hope NEVERDONE will consider editting them out, moreover, NTFC really does not have anything to do with an agreemant gone bad between JR and Steve.

While I will not edit my comments because I beleive that what was said is true, I will say that my comment was based on PAST visits and by no means reflecs the few current members I met a few months back. Blankinspace did pm me and ask if it was him or any other members that I had the problem with. I told him a few and he advised that those people were really no longer members. He also asked me to give the meeting another shot. Because he took the time to actually care about what someone had written and asked if there was anything he could do, I will give it another try. I did meet a few guys there last time that actually spoke and answered questions and generally were pretty nice.

Again, people please read and do not get offensive! I didnt name anyone nore did I say it was everyone! I will try to at least come have dinner with everyone on friday night. I live about 10min from downtown Ft Worth. I have to work saturday so I cant make that one. The guys with the prestine cars that Im talking about are the ones who give you a dirty look if you get alittle too close to their ride cause your shoes might have dirt on them. Trust me, I understand all about wanting to baby a vehicle that cherry. But I will say that there is an outdoor car show over in Arlington every friday night at I20 and Green Oaks that have several $100k cars and these guys just park them there in a parking lot and dont really care who walks up to them and looks. But again, there are certain guys who think their $h!t doesnt stink and that makes their cars crap too!

I've been to that show several times, and it's a really good gathering. It's in a grocery store parking lot on the north side of I-20 just off Green Oaks and during half-way decent weather typically has more than a hundred cars, many of them spectacularly nice. I highly recommend checking it out, parking is stupidly easy and free, and there's a few fast-food joints within walking distance including Hooters.

I may have to hit you up on a Friday about that showing at GreenOaks. I'm based out of Cleburne here and..... Not much hanging out chit chat ever. And when they do they're still in high school and seem to know nothing about EVERYTHING or was it the other way around...

I don't consider it thread jacking and don't mind at all! The thread generated a tangent and hopefully it helped you get involoved with NTFC again. I know a few of the guys in TX, not sure if they are NTFC, but they were very helpful in my cross country Indy trip!

I have dealt with Fierocarparts "Steve" and I only have great things to say. He's been as generous as sending me parts at no cost, that's just they way he is. He is a great human being and this little mishap should not tarnish his great reputation. Nor should this mishap hurt johnyrottin rep either. Things happen but between two civil outstanding people a resolution is just around the corner.
As a matter of fact this thread should be tossed to the trashcan and I'm sure they'll work it out just fine.

I just want to go on the record and say the johnyrottin "John" is not that great of a person. He comes to D.C. all the time and never makes time to meet up with me and let me buy him a beer. Plus he's Air Force, and everybody knows you can't trust them.
maybe a who not to buy from thread/sticky is in order?
Oh my GOD the irony... sorry to bump this, but coming from a dude who scammed Nitroheadz and gave a humongous load of excuses and then stopped communicating, that is just comedy right there.

Not for nothing, i never got an invite to your poughkeepsie Ny one after you said you were coming out this way.... hmmmm
Where's the low man on the totem pole smiley when you need him?
not that i am in anyway getting involded in this argument all I can say is that a while ago 2 forum members got stung by a fiero owner in the u.k (fierolord) and many members said at the time about not shipping parts out of the u.s - this just goes to show that in can happen in your own back garden as well as the rest of the world. my rant over there.
as far as i am concerned when I buy parts - to me a deal is a deal - but all aspects should be made clear about a deal so that everyone concerned know what he/she is getting.
believe it or not fiero's and their owners are really a small community so dont try to make it difficult on one another. jon
