I just got back home from a rained-out show... was only there for about a half hour before getting chased out by the lightning and the rain. Although I didn't have a lot of time, I managed to check out all the Fieros that were still there. There were some really nice rides... and it was a pleasure to finally see some of these cars in person.
Pedro's chop-top... wow! I'll let the pictures do the talkin'. Simply stunning!:

Since the other folks posted some great pictures of the many Fieros at Daytona, let me give an overview of the weekend.
Dawn came Friday morning over Aunt Catfish's for breakfast:
Soon the Fieros were lining up:
First visit with the many Fiero enthusiasts as the weekend was unfolding:
After a hearty breakfast, it was cruise time to Inlet Harbor for the Manatee boat ride:
After signing in, there was more socializing waiting for launch time:
The good ship Manatee ready for a "three hour cruise" - (got that tune in your head)?
Settled in and ready for the tour:
Our good captain (yes, the girl), and our tour commentator:
Beautiful homes along the inter coastal (no, I don't think any were Fiero owners)!
Ponce light house:
Saturday morning at the track and cars were lining up:
The Central Florida (CFF) crew was set-up and ready:
Wiping the cars down for the day:
The group just kept growing:
The "unofficial" count I got was 53 Fieros.
The "Tony mobile" was delivered to it's beaming owner:
Ooh, ahhh . . .
Mitch's judging approach got good praise from everyone I spoke with - top 3 for each class (no nit picking over 1st, 2nd and 3rd categories). Trophy ribbons compliments of GT Service Center in Melbourne:
In addition to the cars, there's always interesting innovations to see. Here's one of my favorites for intake upgrade:
I did find some time to visit the overall show, here's some of my favorites
and more:
Do you like yellow?
How about orange?
and still more:
One of the highlights of the day for Pappy was getting his picture taken with Eric Clapton!
A true highlight was Chuck's Tryke races:
They got me involved
and here's Luis warming up in the pit area:
Bob Holtz won the $15,000 door prize . . . oh wait, Bob won some sunscreen. . $15,000 was what he was worried his tranny repair was going to cost him!
Saturday dinner at BJ's was the time for the last visits and socializing for many:
Sunday morning sunrise came way too quickly
and wiping off the last of that Florida dew started out the final day.
Tony's car was trailored and ready for delivery. (Overheard he was looking at sleeping in his garage the first few days of the this week just to stay close to his baby)!
Then it was cruising to North Turn for Sunday breakfast.
Last chance to visit those Florida beaches and stick your toes in the sand.
Barb wanting to say she spent the last day of Spring Break at the beach before heading back to work at the college:
This young tourist doesn't appear stressed out . . .
Final goodbyes to all our friends:
A great weekend - till next year.
I didn't make it back to the track for the parade lap on Sunday, so hopefully some others will post pictures.
I took video of the Go Kart races and the Tryke races which I'll post once I get it edited.

This year it was a great show. Thanks a lot to all involved in making it happen. You did an awesome job The trophy ribbons were very classy and I think an excellent approach. No waiting and you could easily see winners. Keep it going! As always it was nice to see old friends and meet new ones. As always too little time to see it all and spend enough time in all show fields. See you next year

That wasn't easy to figure out. First, I'm still confused about the categories (esp. modified and custom), the rules should be defined better and published. Second, it was hard to find out who won what and even what awards there were.
My suggestions: 1) Have an awards "ceremony" including the highlights what the judges particularly liked about each car 2) Fasten the ribbons to the upper portion of the windshield instead of laying them on the dashboard so they're more visible 3) Have first, second and third places instead of "top three"
I later heard that apart from the top three in each category there was a "creativity" award and awards fro best paint, best engine... I would have never known if someone didn't tell me.
By 1pm, I actually thought that the judges were done with the awards, locked my car and went to see the show and eat. When I came back I found a "top three" award on my front compartment. That was nice but kind of anti-climatic.
Having said that, thanks to all judges and everyone else who put in time to organize this event!

There is probably no perfect way to judge a show. If you make too big a deal out of it the people who don't win, (also known as losers) get upset and start to question the judges objectivity.
The Daytona show judging used to be very strict with drive through judging...people complained,
then it was low key and people complained.
Then they eliminated judging, and people complained....
Now it's back and low key...well we know what comes next.
Still I think the judges did a good job, and the low key awards are appropriate. I don't think any of us are in the hobby to collect trophies...I don't think a trophy would fit in my trunk for the 1,000 mile trip home anyway. The ribbon is cool, although I have to admit I didn't collect one, which technically makes me a loser.

Here are a few more pictures. This was when the Fiero's were just starting to come into the infield. Here is a couple interesting cars within the big show. There was a Camaro with a kit on the front to make it a Trans Am. The last car is a combination of a chevy and a ford.

I agree it maybe would have been nice to list the class in the ribbon but by looking the car most could be figured out. I liked that judging was independent. That way Fiero people could enjoy the show and share with us. Finally I think everyone who showed up was a winner. No looser at all
