I would sure think everyone would enjoy meeting your family, and spending the weekend with them.
I myself would love to meet the kids that call you Dad !!!
Thanks...
But the question is moot at this point. I've received no less than 6 PMs telling me I should not bring my children. One of those said, quoted: "Camp Shipman is not a place for children."

Are you kidding !? There were several children last year, including the Shipmans kids, and they all added to the enjoyment of the weekend. If there is any "adult" who thinks their behavior should not be seen by kids then that "adult" needs to find some place else to have their fun. This is the Shipman's home and all of our behavior should reflect that fact.

Not trying to create drama... The dogs were not welcome last year, and I understand why. So they get locked up this year in a kennel.
The children are interested in Fieros, and they want to be a part of the whole Fiero community... They've been to several shows, and were at Dells a few weeks ago. I know there were children there last year, and I'd love for my kids to be there this year, but the overwhelming consensus from the PMs I have received is that "It isn't Nellie and Jay's responsibility to take care of your children..." I can't understand that sentiment... I honestly can't... Where did that come from? They'd be "paying" members of the camp, just like everyone else. They can do their own things. Just like everyone else. And, I feel that they'd get along just great with Carter and Cassie with no issues... They are all right around the same age.
My oldest, Leah would not be attending anyway. Only the twins, who are fairly well-balanced and understand the meaning of Sir and Ma'am.
Either way... I wanted to make sure that it was OK, and that it was REALLY OK, not just "OK" to make me happy.. After the backlash I received last year with bringing my dogs (which was brought up a couple of times in these PMs I received), I didn't want there to be any chance someone could tell me I was doing something wrong again.

Well... that's no less than 6 people that should get over themselves.
Where do people on this forum get off thinking that they can dictate who comes to these events. If the Shipmans have a issue with Chris' question, they can decide how to handle it.
Do Jay and Nellie ship their kids off to grandma's for the weekend? Seems to me that there is an obvious bias to the PMs if only certain children aren't supposed to be there.

I would submit that the dogs were definitely a bad idea but how would Jay and Nellie be responsible for your kids? They were absolutely not a problem for anyone at the Dells or at last year's MFF car show. Regardless of Leah's disability.

whoa whoa whoa... i step away from my PC for a couple days and we gotta full blown discussion going on here.
Kids - Chris and anyone else... feel free to bring your kids. In fact, I think Stu was thinking about bringing his daughter as well. My kids are absolutely going to be here and they usually each invite a friend or 2. We don't really keep an eye too much on our kids though... they do their own thing. of course they are old enough to do that. we don't allow any motorized vehicles like ATVs when the crowd is here, no playing in the house, and stay on our property. those are really my only rules. Of course everyone is responsible for their own kids... but i don't think it is a bad enviornment for kids? of course, my kids have seen jay and I kick back a few drinks, so if that is something that will offend anyone to have their kids see... drinking that is.. then use your own judgement. i'm sure there will be a few cuss words thrown around too. I guess everyone is different on what they feel is ok and not ok for their kids to be around... so that is up to you. i actually told carter/cassie that Chris might be bringing his kids and they were about the same age. Cassie was very excited to meet Stu's daughter too. Consider this issue final say - which is me - bring your kids if you want... PERIOD.
pets... no that didn't work out so well, so other then our little dixie pup... let's nix that in the future.

3 in a Fiero, and one being Chris is gonna be an interesting sight to say the least !!!
You should see four people pour out of a Fiero. The driver, passenger, and a person behind each seat. Thts a really tight fit.

My wife and I are planning to come up for the show and camp for the weekend. I've recently started a new job, and at this point I'm not sure if we'll be coming Thursday or Friday, but we definitely plan to be there.
(Though I doubt it will look that good after 450 miles of driving.)
Good to hear you can make it. Yeah.. always gotta wash bugs off at least after a trip like that Depending on what day you come up there will likley be a Caravan of Fieros you can join from the Twin Cities.
FUN

hi all my fiero peeps. i guess i could call you my "feeps" right?? i had a question about if we were doing some sort of prizes, etc at our house this year. most of what i and the committee have collected are going as door prizes at the car show. however, i do have a few fiero specific items that we can raffle off at our house if anyone is up for that. now technically folks raffles are ILLEGAL in minnesota without a gambling permit.. this is why this is being done ONLY in our garage and not on the internet. it is a be present to participate situation. i have a fiero specific car part... don't laugh... i can't remember what it is and jay has been gone for what seems like YEARS and isn't here to ask. daniel was going to send some lights. i have a gift cert from fiero store, shirt from fiero store, calendars, and also a really nice hard cover book about fieros from the fiero store. last year the fiero quilt made by yours truly was a hit... honestly not sure why all the hype but it was exciting anyway. i did get one of these done again but I am giving that to our shirt/hat man Chris. this is the 3rd year in a row he has made the trek to our house to faithfully deliver shirts which he is doing for cost in an effort to raise money for scholarship. so our hats and if you like shirts off to chris. below is a pic of his quilt which still needs quilting but you get the drift. it is roughly 64 x 74. here is my idea... i dont think i can get another done in the few weeks we have left. i will be raffling off an identical quilt to this picture.. it will be made and shipped to the winner by November 1st. I know i know.. a little wait but trying to give myself enough wiggle room. so... if there is interest in that it will be part of our raffle too not the dog though.. for some reason she just LOVES fiero quilts - wink wink john

Nellie, I am sad to say that I am so disappointed. I know Chris has done a lot with the shirts and hats, and even driving them to your house....
But, I just do not think that it is completely fair, looking at the picture of the new quilt, I feel really let down. I mean, I didn't get a cute little dog with my quilt!
