I just wanted to give you an update on the caravan to Frazee for the Tyler Shipman weekend. We are planning to meet again at JP's Grill and Bar in Sauk Rapids (1313 2nd Stret N., just off Hwy. 10) on Friday, July 27 and we will be leaving at 1pm sharp. If you want to have lunch at the restaurant, get there a little earlier. For those coming from the northern Twin Cities, we are meeting again at the Elk River Shell gas station (Hwy. 10 and Proctor) at 10am. We should roll into Frazee about 4pm if everything goes fine.

ROFLMAO !!!! Cheap shot at every corner Wanna caravan to Freds in August ??
we are so planning for a Fred's Iowa weekend. Jay is at the "come hell or high water" stage of this planning we will be driving an IMPALA. I know... WEAK! I just can't figure out how to make the kids sit in the trunk without fighting with each other. I have to work that Friday til 3 so we will be getting a very late start . I'm sure the real caravan will leave much sooner than that? so our impala will shamefacedly sneak in under the cover of night lol
and... i gotta take those cheap shots where i can. i have a very limited number of fiero stories to tell! my first oil change and your keys are my top picks. jay did help me take my motor apart this winter and put in new fuel injectors.. and yes i did get right in there and get greasy and learned a thing or 2. it was fun with only minor swearing.

Bring two fieros... I'll be heading down there early on Friday morning...I'm sure we can save a parking space for the Impala on the other side of town for ya..!

Reading these posts is driving me crazy! Argh! On one hand, I SOOooo want to go, on the other, I want to use the saved money and finish up my car!
So I sat here and just now talked myself into a compromise..... If I could hitch a ride from MN / St Paul on Friday, and return on either Monday or Tuesday, I can easily cut my trip cost in half. Renting a car has been my largest cost the last couple times to Frazee. For the 5 day rental it is actually twice the price of the airline ticket!
So, if someone has an empty seat to and from Frazee, from the St Paul area... I would love to go, and I will gladly split gas costs and such.
I can be reached on my cell phone from 9am to midnight any day at Fife 6 1 too three six 7 O two 4.

OK, just booked a flight. I land at 10:45am on Thursday.
I got a ride offer from the Shipman`s.... BUT would like to find someone leaving St. Paul on Thursday morning and not impose on them if possible.
The Thursday Caravan could probably pick you up, if no one else steps up. We would probably be hitting the St Paul area around noon, not sure where the airport is. Both Chris L and I are coming up solo, so between the two of us we should be able to squeeze you and your luggage somewhere.

too funny.... i just emailed chris l and begged him for the same option

not looking good for me coming up..since the passing of my aunt down in FL.
Kev, I am sorry to hear of your loss. Life is strange sometimes..... I am doing my best to get out of FL to come to MN, and now here you are, out of necessity, having to leave MN to come to FL.
Mr Fred, I got your PM, and your #. I will just have a simple carry on bag with me, so not much to have to stow away. I will give a call as soon as I get to the airport, and figure out the best place to do a simple pick-up as quickly and easily as possible. I get in at 10:45, so will have a good hour to ask around and scout it out.
Ok, now I am getting antsy already, and I am so looking forward to seeing everyone again!

KEV,
Make sure we know what the meeting place and time is so that we can meet you guys on time.
We looking forward to another great weekend in Frazee.
Fred and Annette
Edit: Evidently we need to learn to read here in Iowa cause the meeting spot is up further on this page. All of my questions are answered. See whomever at JP's on Friday before 1pm.

John,
I live 10 minutes from the airport, and have room for you on Thursday. We'll be buttoning up and joining the Caravan on Thursday as well. You are welcome to ride along with Cindy and I.

my car won't be done in time for Frazee but I hope to be there on saturday for the show, just for the day since it's not far from where I live. My boyfriend and I should be there for sure, and maybe my parents, so we'll probably drive up in our boring old GMC Envoy or Subaru. lol

Kev I sure hope you can make it, even though this is my first year, I know it won't be as fun without you!
I'm working Friday morning till 11, then we will be booking it up to Sauk Rapids to meet you guys by 1. We should just be able to make it. Not sure what we'll be driving now. The Fiero is still up on stands. I might decide to just put it back together and finish the suspension bushings afterwards. If not, we'll probably be showing up in some wacky window'ed Subaru.

As I stated in an earlier post I'm 28 miles closer to Frazee then J.P.’s Grill (off Hwy 10 between Royalton & Little Falls). I don’t have a full menu but the price will be right (free)! I can put burgers & brats on the grill, baked beans & chips + whatever flavor beverages we have on hand (have time to stock for requests). It will be just your basic cook out, nothing fancy.
My battle with cancer has kept me from helping out directly with the Tyler Memorial Car Show over the years so this is just my way to help out a little & reduce your travel costs some at the same time. I just need to know if it sounds like a good idea to the caravan folks and if so how many to plan for. I’m in a relaxing rural environment with much parking (driveway goes around our house).
Let’s get some feedback up on this thread so if it looks like a “GO” I can get my address, directions, & cell/phone # out via P.M.’s.

One question ...is the road paved? I think it would be cool to have a members place be the stopping/meeting point. Though because we try to caravan all together it would maybe have to be the "official stop"? Would it need to be decided by the caravan leadership? Otherwise I suppose anyone could stop there instead of JPs, and just meet the caravan on hwy 10 at 1:28pm as they should be passing thru by then. Can you see hwy10 from your yard? If it doesn't work this year maybe it could next year?

Yes the way in & out to our home is paved, we are about 1-1/4 mile off of hwy 10. We are not visible from hwy 10. Paved road in (from south by Royalton) Co. Rd. 231/83rd st. connects to Hillton Rd. Co. Rd. 258 (parallel to hwy 10 & Mississippi River). Stop gather & eat then continue north on Hillton road (to Little Falls) back to hwy10. All 55 or 40 mph.
Caravan should pick one meeting spot so as not to confuse the meeting place. I've dinned at J.P's and it's good, better then my cooking! You won't hurt my feelings if J.P.'s is the spot to meet. I met a few of you last year at J.P.'s in our Solstice. I just offered as our home as a no stress, no cost stop, and arrival timing here is not as critical for gathering.
It’s an option to the Caravaners. But keep it simple (KIS) so no confusion, meet at one spot.

GRRRRR I hate missing this. I always said come hell or high water... But Hell came this year. I'm planning to attempt to make Fred and Annette's shin dig though!
Well after the help I got from YellowTop last night, my Fiero is running and idling better. Unfortunately, I was informed today that I was added to the work schedule for next Saturday.
Take awesome pictures everyone!

I hate to be the barer of bad news, but I don't think I can make it up this year. I have my lil car COMPLETELY ( I have pics to prove it ) ripped apart and the 88 still isn't trust worthy yet. The DD (a rusty 1996 Buick Regal) will be in use the entire weekend, so I have no way up there. I'm really bummed out about this. This would be the second year in a row I wont be able to go. I hope to have both cars up there next year. One will probably multicolored. (white/red/black)
