For Rick88 Who asked about who makes cheaper wheels. I do not know who makes them but I have a set I will sell for $600. I bought them for my 308 Replica.

https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum4/HTML/055156.html

Not as petty as those HRE wheels but a reasonable substitute.

Ok, I'll bite......what is the "street price" on a set of these? 18x8 and 18x10 for example?

Ok. I must have rocks in my head...I want a set of the gold 501's for my stock 88 gt. But I need help. I did search the hundreds of wheel threads and I still have no idea what size to get. They only come in 18's and above. I don't want to go to big, so 18's all around or 18's in front 19's in back? I know it is a choice, I don't want them to stick out beyond the car, so with these rims is that 8.5 rear, 7.5 front? And 35 offset for both? And is it a particular size tire I would have to get?

Sorry, I did look in the threads......still can't figure it out and if I spend that much it would need to be perfect. And just to add that I got the car in 88 because I loved the bright red with the gold wheels and still love it today. But it's time to put on my third set of tires since new and looking on here for tire suggestions ran across this thread and thought if I have to buy new tires anyway.....why not go bigger on wheels since these are so close to stock look.

Anyway, I would love input especially from mad curl or jscott1 because your wheel and tire fitting looks perfect.

Thanks.

I have several sets that might give you an idea of what you want, but I need to mount the wheels to the car which is a 88. Long, long time ago Songman tried out one of my fronts in the rear of his 1988 which is a 19x9 and it fit just fine using a 255/30/19 Pzero tire (you might be able to use a 265 for a 255 looks too dinky in the rear of a Fiero IMO). I also have a 19x8 which will fit nicely up front on a 88, but is currently on my 87. You really need this combination to keep the front tucked in. Currently, I just got my 19x9 chromed and haven't gotten around to mounting the tires. In the mean time Jscott might be able to help you until then, but Unboundmo has a set on his 88.

Unboundmo's 3-piece wheel made by a different company I think is IForge or Forgline. His fronts stick out and that might not be what you're looking for, but if so, HRE can still make them, but I went with a tucked in look for my fronts.

Here's the fronts which are 19x8 on my 1987 Fiero. They are tucked way inward and I guess it should be hitting just right for a 1988 Fiero, but I need to test to make sure. The front tire is a 235/35/19.

If everything is correct HRE can just ues my specs which are on file. I don't know how the 501's will look with a very small outer lip.

The original link to testing out 19x9 in the rear of Dale's 1988.

https://www.fiero.nl/forum/A...040710-1-035938.html

As usual some of the pics have the infamous red "X".

Other-than-that, here's a comparison pic using a 18x8.5 36mm off set with a 245/35/18 tire vs. a 19x8 I believe is a 37.5 off-set.

Non blacked out HREs

(note the silver car in pic is a 1987).

Thanks for all the pics and links. Too bad the 2004 thread has all the pictures red X because the text sounds like that is what I need to see on an 88!

In the other pictures, I really like the way Unboundmo's wheels look. I'm going to search the forum and see if I can find any other close-ups of the front because I can't really tell if they stick out or not. Is he running 18's all around?

In the final silver car pictures, which one is the 18 and which one the 19? After looking around a little more, I'm thinking either both 18's, or possible 18 front, 19 rear, but I also don't want the tires to look like rubber bands. I'm also assuming if I do this, I would want to lower the front 2" as it is currently still stock.

I ran across this and really like the 17 setup on stock, but the HRE's don't come in 17.
The rims are Simmons OM series http://www.simmonswheel.com.au/wheels/ 17x7.5 up front and 17x9.0 on the rear and have 35 offset.
The tires are Bridgstone Potenza SO2's 215 / 45 / 17 fronts and 275 / 40 / 17 on the rear

https://www.fiero.nl/forum/A...090219-2-088346.html

I'm assuming there is an equivalent step up from these to 18's, I'll have to go to tirerack and figure that out.

I also saw several pics of Alex4mula's cars and his wheel/tire setup is perfect as well.

Any more opinions on these HRE's in 18 or 18/19 on an 88gt would be appreciated. width/offset/tires

I'm going to do more searches and see what I like. I'm one of those people that have to see it to determine if I like it...which makes being new tires/wheels very difficult.

Lots of forum searching and I would like comments on this setup. No comments about cost please.....I'll get that from my wife...

Front. 215/40 18x7
Rear. 225/35 19x8
Michelin pilot super sports
HRE 501's gold

Would that work on a stock 88gt suspension without any changes?

The Silver Fiero on the passerger side is a 18x8.5 (black) on a 245/35/18 and the driver's side is a 19x8 on a 235/35/19. Both tires are range are about 3.1" from the bead to the ground. Most people here sport 40-45 series instead of the 35-series for a smoother ride and less trouble with pot holes.

18" FORGELINES (SP3P). THE FRONTS ARE 7.5" WIDE WITH A 1.5" LIP INCLUDED WITH AN OFFSET OF 40mm. THE REARS ARE 8" WIDE WITH A 2" LIP FOR THE STAGGERED LOOK AND A OFFSET OF 32mm. THEY HAVE BEEN ANODIZED (NOT) POWDER-COATED CENTERS IN A DULL GOLD AND THE LIPS ARE CHROME. I PICKED THE COLORS BECAUSE I WANTED TO REPRESENT THE ORIGINAL COLOR SCHEME. THE TIRE SIZES ARE (FRONT) 215/40/18, (REAR) 225/45/18.

Yup, they look real nice for lace wheels and will be just as big a PIA to clean as the stock GT wheels.

Madcurl, I really like those gold wheels. That looks like an 88gt, did you have to change anything for them to fit? I see you went with a 32 offset vs. 35 I see many others using on rear, do you have a close up of how that looks?

That car belongs to unboundmo out in California.

Madcurl was just posting for reference.

Not that he doesn't have his own stable, and i do mean stable,.. of high end rims !

He has about 6 or 7 sets of HRE wheels !!

I am just trying to get one set !

Old post I know, but Avant Garde also makes a set of lace wheels, only 18x8/18x9 though.
