Don't know what exact style/comfort level seat you were going for but that's about as cheap as you're going to get if you want a brand name seat. That site has the sliding bases but they're $200 as well. All-in-all though, for 2 seats shipped, ready to bolt in, $1k isn't terrible.

Yeah that's not unheard of for a good quality racing seat to pay those prices. Really good purpose-built seats can get into four digits easily. It's also why many people just run one racing seat if they have to since they can get pricey and some people can't justify paying $2,000-$3,000 for a set of racing seats.
I mean you can go to places like Pep Boys and get those 3A Racing seats for like $100, but you're going to get what you pay for...
I mean... It isn't a name brand so that sort of answers the question. I don't know what a "ricer" seat is, but if you want to pay for no name seats that will tear up quickly and feel like you're sitting on a bag of bricks- give it a shot.
My advice is to scour craigslist for people parting out their projects to find a new or lightly used set of Corbeau/ Sparco/ Recaro seats for much less than new, not to mention local. It might turn out to be a waiting game depending on your needs and where you live though.

I have Sparco Sprint seats in my Fiero. You can make them work with the stock brackets. Just need to drill a new hole on each side of the stock rails. Done.

FYI, These are pretty hard to beat price wise, they are from China, but pretty good quality. Go to page 12 of my build thread in my signature link below if you what to read what I have to say about them. They are available in various colors:

This is a problem I've seen with many aftermarket seats. The bottoms fit well (although some brackets make the seat sit very high), but the "wings" on the top at the shoulder level always seem to hit the pillar and/or console, not allowing full recline of the seatback. They also block you from opening the center console compartment while seated. The bottom cusions of the stock seats are fairly normal, but the backs are quiet narrow compared to most seats.

BE CAREFUL ON CRAIGSLIST. Seats are a commonly stolen item and if you find a "killer deal" you may end up in possession of stolen property.
