Thanks Terrance, I'm humbled and I appreciate the compliment, but I'm not a pro. I'm just a guy that loves what he does and enjoys making people happy.
BTW...Although we discussed that certain part, it's not what I have in the works. I think everyone will be very surprised as to what car I am recieving that is getting a normal l67. I will take lots of pics, but won't be posting a thread until it's at least half done (I don't like the pressure of doing a real time step by step install). -Jason

Gee could it be pontiackids IMSA...Since he was so smart as to say the car was heading to NY in another thread...
Wow! Yah got me, I guess my project has been outed! But, let me ask you this, why make such a sarcastic comment to me about it? If you have a problem with him, that's fine. Please leave me out of it, as you don't know me from Adam. I feel that the car in my hands will get the work it deserves considering it's heritage. -Jason

Jason, I want to see that beaut in Indy next year at the 30th... as long as you don't mind parking next to Texans again...
Blake, I have every intention on bringing it. And I am looking forward to hanging out with you fellas again, make sure you save me the spot right next to ya'll ! -Jason

Don't take it personally. At least now we know something is actually going to get done on that car since you are doing the swap now.
Sinister sent the Regal code for the aftermarket PCM and she is purring like a very aggressive kitten. We did a 40 mile test drive and here are the results.
First off...OMG!
1. Swapping out the radiator tomorrow morning...to get better cooling...old radiator just isn't cutting it. 2. tighten up the belts a little bit. 3. Need a slight adjustment on the deck lid bracket...near the supercharger....it has a little play and sure wouldn't want that to rub. 4. Still need to figure out what exhaust tips to put on the end of that bad-ass sounding Enzo installed...what after-market tips does everything suggest on 86 GT stock body for now?

But strong enough that when she is over 100 mph and you get up on it...the rear pulls down too much and the front tires start to lift...felt just like hydro-planning.
Wasn't planning on upgrading suspension until near the end of summer...but going to have to do the rear tomorrow...no choice!

Has nothing to do with suspension, you just need a hood vent. All the air pressure builds up in the front and lifts it up over 100MPH or so.

Headlights coming up over a 100 is normal for the Fieros. Has the car had an alignment yet? If not then that will cause ur hydro planning feeling espically if the roads are a little wet.
Be good to do shocks/struts along with ball joints and hopefully u went with soils cradle bushings on the install.
Where r the needed pictures of the engine bay so we can see what she looks like. Now that u have it running, work out the bugs and then time to add MODs to make it fast....

She left the shop today and I finally got to drive her home. I just wanted to thank everyone that assisted. I will be starting my own build thread with lots of pictures documenting all the fun this far and the rest to come!

Sounds like a good addiction and since the kids are out of the house finally (nothing against them...but no longer have their hands in my wallet...well at least not as much)...so that means I have the budget to play each month
Finished would means that she is running...which is no longer the case. I need to hire someone local to trouble shoot and do a once over of the swap to figure and fix any of the issues. So all of you amazing DFW guys (Stephen Poe) please lets talk and I am willing to pay you for your time. I am afraid to give her back to the mechanic which has had her for the past half year.
For the short time she was running I felt in my own opinion that the flywheel was not truly balanced...this was causing what I would term as a light scrapping noise from that area. My mechanic told me that it was the new clutch and flywheel getting burned in...does that sound correct?

This is truly jacked up. I say take it back to the mechanic and at least get it running again for free. Then set up an appointment with mstangsbware to get a list of do overs.

I risk not getting her back in a timely manor again and time is money...they had her for half a year and couldn't get it right.
That seems to me that he is not competent to do the work. He told me that he would have no problem doing the swap and that I would get the car back in 19 days.
I stopped payment on his check that was written Friday for a portion of the total...but I couldn't do the same on my debit card for another portion.
I'm sorry, but I feel I shouldn't have to pay for work that is done correctly and way over the 19 day estimate original quote from him to get the work completed.
He has had ample time to get it right and has not.
Please again I am requesting assistance.

This is why I asked several times about what flywheel/clutch setup you are using...What you are hearing is the Pressure plate rubbing up against the inside housing of the getrag. There is one high spot in the trans that the PP will contact if the flywheel is not machined to the correct thickness or the wrong PP is used...This is a common issue that is made by non Fiero based shops that attempt swaps without doing there home work or by those wanting to re invent the wheel and go with an off the wall clutch setup. If I am correct then the noise will soon enough go away as it will dig a groove in the inside of the case until it clears. Hopefully the PP or flywheel distance isnt that far off and if it digs to deep then bye bye Getrag...If you get under the car and look thru the inspection plate area(should be no inspection plate on there) you will probally find metallic shavings. Your mechanic is full of **** when about burning the clutch in as there is not such thing. Even breaking it in there should be no scrapping, knocking, ect....
Nosrac had me do his initial swap but has another mechanic doing his turbo swap as I have other cars in my shop for work right now and I am slow as swapping Fieros is just a hobby type thing I do aside from my full time job.

I feel for you as I know you payed way more than what you should have or would have if you would have searched around to find my services. Should have been a big red flag thrown up when he said he could finish the swap in 19 days as I have seen very few swaps happen this fast and most that have where full of issues and sloppy swaps. Most shops that are not Fiero based will cause more trouble in the end then what they are worth and most the time are no faster. Sounds like the car does need to be looked over to seek out all issues....

Please let me know who and when...this is my daily driver ...have had a loaner for half a year.
My wife and I discussed and I will be dropping her off and picking her to work (which will be a real pain in the a** for both of us) and driving her car until this is fixed.
I guess the one saving grace is that it seems all I lost was 2K and 6 months of time and rental fees.

I would suggest you get another car for DD, another Fiero would be even better. Then do some research on what swap parts everyone else is using. Once you get a good "kit" then any skilled mechanic can assemble. Don't reinvent the wheel and don't expect a non-Fiero mechanic who never seen a 3800SC swap before to get it right without a issues, unless he has a "kit" complete with pics and instructions.

And still if you are having a non Fiero mechanic do the job with instructions and a kit be sure to keep on top of the swap also....

Went today and checked out Jim's swap today to see if I could find out why it would not start and to check over the swap in general. After looking over the swap it looks to have be mechanically put together the right way. The shop used WCF poly mounts with matching engine amount along with WCF headers with full WCF exhaust with a SpinTek. For an upper dog bone WCFs setup was used that mounts to the head on the right side. Over all the swap looks pretty soils but there are a few issues that need to be addressed. Now when it comes to apperance the swap is lacking in that department something bad. It looks like a swap that was done in 99 before there where such a thing as clean swaps. There is just wires and hoses going everywhere. But that can be corrected and was talked about.
