Ok.. I'm getting back to working on my project. I pulled the top off my 86 and man was that a PITA. The sunroof had leaked and I'm doing a healthy restore so I wanted to make sure it wasn't rotten under the skin. Anywho.. my brother in his infinate patience got mad and decided to start kicking and throwing stuff around the shop. Well where the "A" pillar meets the top is now broke. My questions is what materials do you use to repair this? Its not quite a urethane or not quite a fiberglass. Would it be best to glue/bolt it back to the car then attempt to repair? Would Tigerhair work? I also plan on shaving the fuel door so I use extra side pieces to fill that would I use the urethane repair glue to secure that? Thanks for your imput! hope to hear from yall!

I believe the material is called SMC and there should be an adhesive made by 3M that will bond the pieces. My suggestion is to glass the backside of the break and then use the SMC adhesiveto act as both a glue and a filler. Sand smooth and it should hopefully not be too noticable. ThaDriver has worked with the panels a lot. You might shoot him a PM to see what he thinks.

This first link will address the SMC repair. The hood and rear clip are SMC. The tab repair in this article is how you would do the RRIM body panels ie. door skins and fenders.

This second link is how you would do the bumper covers RIM

8115 by 3M is amazing stuff. If you put it around 4 tires on a driveway the car is not moving. Have used it on scoops and body panels and it bonds super. I just push it out with a screwdriver handle on each side evenly. The gun for it is expensive. Rick B

Yes, Tiger Hair is SMC-compatible. Other brands may not be.
