What I notice is that previously banned members can get back on anonymously. Like Shawn
Arn
I just saw that banned member Tinton popped up in the Whodeanie thread with the new username of njames4. It must be relatively easy to circumvent the banning system.

The entire PFF site is not exactly secure. It would be relatively easy to do a lot of things. Getting back in after getting banned is one of the much easier things to do.

If im not mistaken its a username or email ban here so someone could quickly set up a account within minutes of being banned. IP bans are a little tougher but 10 minutes of googleing will yield positive results.
I also am pretty well known with a number of members, having organized the biggest Fiero show in Canada for a couple of years until GM dumped the brand and we lost our main sponsor.
What bugs me, I guess, is banned members coming back on with entirely bogus credentials and then trolling. I realize Cliff does a good job, but, the times are a changing and if we want to have a pleasant hobby forum we need to have pretty good screening IMHO. And sorry to have to say.

It's not just a hobby forum. It started that way, sure, but there's Totally O/T, Other Cars, and Other Mall, which have nothing to do with Fieros. The only people trolling in the threads I tend to look at, are people who haven't been banned, and have been trolling with the same smack for a long while now. It's tiring, but it's not because they came back after being banned to troll the crap out of everyone.
If you're getting bugged by people trolling in Totally O/T, then stay out of that forum. The actual Fiero related forum sections aren't so bad as you seem to make them out to be.
Sure, every once in a while someone will start some stupid scuffle, but they don't tend to last very long, and sometimes are worth having (people getting screwed over on building a Fiero is never good, be they the customer or the shop owner, and dirty laundry needs to get aired out).

I think the system in use is sufficient. It was a pain for me to register, as I never set up my ISP email account, and don't need to. I had to use my facebook email to register. Now, if a site asks for my name and address and I am not purchasing anything, applying, filing, etc etc, I usually use a fake name and email. Why would I give someone all my information? I get enough junk mail in my name to my house as it is. I usually use Bob Newhart, 1234 Main St, Beverly Hills, CA 90210. If you make it harder to register, you make it harder for people that may legitimately contribute to this forum, or may have an issue that this forum can help them resolve. This forum has been a great resource for me as I've been working on my money pit, and is a great tool to countless others that have not registered. Also, I worked in E-commerce since 03 and I NEVER give my information unless it is required.

Having someone's city/state is very handy in the Mall portion. I also like to see it in other sections so I can see who is within a state or two of me.
Mine lists Bryantsville, because that is the closest town on a map to my house. My actual street address is Lancaster which is 3 times the distance from my house than Bryantsville is. I list Bryantsville so people know my approximate location in case they want to visit.
If there was going to be a change, I would prefer to see the Location details within PM's. I get lots of PM's and often times it would be very handy to see the location of the sender while I am reading the PM (vs. having to exit PM and search for one of their other posts).

Definitely, agree with you there. When buying/selling or looking for someone to give you a hand, it's always best that they disclose their location. I like it because you also get to see where other people are from, and you see a lot of Fiero enthusiasts from all over on here.
