Am I the only one who would like to see this forum reorganized? I'm talking about more catagories (forums) like: exterior, interior, engine swap, etc.. It would make it a little easier to keep up with all the traffic this forum gets! maybe even a 'suggestions' forum - I really didnt know where to post this. :-) -john
I think you are... I find it fairly orginized and for Cliffy to do that much work... I dunno plus this forum is already costing him a bundle that would just add to cost. we all like to be orginized but not if it causes cliffy to go bankrupt.
These are not new ideas. Cliff carefully considers the impact of changes that he makes. I'm sure that if he feels it's warranted, he'll do it. Personally, I think it'll make it harder to find stuff. But that's just my opinion. It's *got* to make it more difficult for him to manage, from an administrative point of view. Cliff donates his servers, bandwidth, time and funds, out of his pocket, to keep this place alive. I think he does a great job. This is my home away from home.

I think that would make it a lot harder to find things, I'm on an S-10 forum (www.s10forum.com) and a computer forum (www.overclockersforum.com) that does that and it just makes them seem way too in depth, its over complicated. The simplicity of the organization of this form makes it incredibly easy to find anything. Kudos to Cliff on creating the forum and on not only keeping it going, but continuously improving it.
wow, I'm totally shocked that Cliff didn't jump as soon as he saw this thread, and start immediatly making the changes you requested.. how rude of him!

I like the forum how it is now. Yah, it could be split up a little bit more, but I don't think people would use the designated areas enough to justify the change.
I am also on the DSM forums and they have a lot more categories, but you know what? Topics don't get that many reponses. (Some due to the lack of the knowledge by members and some because of this issue.)
------------------ '87GT 6" Drop, Can you say "Bagged"? Pictures and Details Coming Soon!
'87 blue cp- Yah! '91 Eclipse- Lowered 2.5" '91 Beretta GT- FOR SALE
I personally think that the forum is quite well organized at the moment. As others have stated... spend some time in a forum with more divisions- and things are so much more difficult to find and to keep up with.
If you're curious about current "Active" topics... use the link on the top of the main menu screen that says "Click Here To View Today's Active Topics (all public forums)" -You'll get a good take on everything at once. Otherwise just get good with your bookmarks!
I like things the way they are. Check out http://www.grandamgt.com for an example of a forum that's split up WAY too much. Especially since the entire forum is for 1 type of car!

the forum is quite simple and very easy to navigate. Too many categories and areas limits the amount of view and response, in my experience in other forums. The Probe forum has 3x as many members and about 1/2 the response to topics, there are about 20 categories.....
SO IN SHORT.....

all, I love this forum also, and am sorry if I offended anyone (especially Cliff). I was just throwing the reorg question out there.
I guess noone shares my thoughts - and that's fine.
I agree that too many catagories make it hard to find things. I spent a lot of time on the mini2 forum, and found that their breakdown was pretty good.
My choice of words for this topic was pretty crappy. maybe I am a retard? :-) -john

awe twodogjohnny don't beat yourself up. it was just a thought like you said. personally I think if there were more catagories then people would post more topics in the wrong catagory and would screw the system up even more than they do now.

Twodogjohnny, we've had this discussion a few times before and (as you may have noticed), the people who think it's fine just the way it is greatly outnumbers those that want more sections.
In all honesty, it probably is a little bit more work to admin if there were more sections, but if that's what the majority of people would have wanted, I would change it in an instant. I do think there's one section missing since there's a topic that doesn't seem to fit in the other sections, and that would be "Body Mods". It doesn't really belong in Tech and it doesn't really belong in General as well.

I'm not offended at all. You had a idea and were bold enough to try and change something you thought should be changed. Nothing wrong with that.
Next time ask "Please"

I vote to leave it the same, I think its great, only one suggestion, how about a 'naked hot lesbian' forum? Just kidding, I know this is a family place
i myself love it the way it is.but i think cliff has a good idea with the "body mod" section.so many of us have redesigned the car in some way,and when it come to the looks of the fiero;we in a way have become "fiero part inventors". it could also be a place to bounce body mod idea's back and forth, and give eachother idea's. cliff your doing a sweet job.i love this place shane
------------------ I started the 84 database so come on guys send me all the info you can get
Don't forget, you also promised a section for How-to's or something along those lines.
Hey, somebody has to rag on him for something, it doesn't happen very often.
As to reorganizing, I think the body mods might be nice, but it also works good in tech. The big thing is just to learn to use the search engine and you can find most anything you want pretty quickly.

Maybe instead of a body mods section you could just have a modification area. Covering body, audio, motor etc. Just a thought I find it works just fine the way it is though. Keep up the good work.

I like it the way it is. Some of the other forums have so many subtopics you are not able to find any thread, because their stuff gets posted in the wrong section anyway.

More specifically, this is what I was thinking: technical - catch all for tech questions and problems that dont fit in another catagory exterior - body mods, painting etc. interior - dash mods, stereo etc. engine swap and performance - anything to do with making the car faster. general - anything else fiero related for sale - for sale stuff not related to anything else - anything else.
or something similar to that. currently, I am checking the forum at least twice a day. There is so much traffic, that I am afraid I will miss something.
This is just my 2 cents. I agree, it aint broke, and Cliff is doing a great job. -john
Yeah Cliff you do have a point there. How about just a "Modified Technical Questions & Discussion" forum. It will cover interiors and exetrior mods, IE engines, wheels, spoilers, dashes, seats, suspension and other such things that are of a non stock technical nature would fall into that catagory. The "Stock Technical Questions & Discussion" would be for mainly "stock" unmodified situations but still things like Hard top to sunroof, trunk deck release installs and others typicaly not a modification persay because they are found on a "stock" Fiero
I think that would be great!!

i think there should be another section, but with Roger pasting all his hooter pics, and he has to update it daily. Roger can do a road trip and go to all the hooters across america.
