Get your heads out of the gutter...hehe
*I found a baby copperhead snake yesterday when I was doing some yard work. Coolest little brown snake. Thought it was a large earthworm. Im probably going to keep it- so who knows what this thing will eat?
It was probably hybernating because it was all coiled up. I brought it inside & it looks comfortable. I gave it crumbs of a chicken leg (popeyes spicey) & tidbits of a milky way bar.
I need to know what this thing WILL eat so it can grow into a large 100" poisonous wingless dragon.

... "Small mammals and frogs account for most of the prey items taken, but birds, insects and other snakes are also important parts of their diets." ...

Small insects, mealworms amd very small earthworms. If you havn't had a snake before I suggest letting your little copperhead go after he is big enough. As you already know they are pretty poisonous.

I really hope you're kidding. Let it back outside, please. Milky way bar?

Never keep a venoumous snake, unless you have had a lot of experience with snakes. Even then it's generally considered a very dumb idea.

Want your hand to look like this?

That was from a sub-adult copperhead.

I highly recommend you also read this article about a copperhead bite the author recieved: http://www.venomousreptiles.org/articles/59

Again, please tell me you're kidding.

"It's just a Copperhead!" This is one of the stupidest statements we can make. It shows a vast disrespect for an animal that has put goodish number of digits and some entire limbs on the hospital floor, and failing that, always causes a world of hurt.

That is out of the article. I'm not ragging on you about this, I just don't want to see you get hurt.

Also, before you even think about getting another snake (or any other reptile) do some research!

I have a boa constrictor, bought her around a year and a half ago. Was about 12" long then, now is around 4.5 - 5'. Haven't had a single problem, because I researched for about 2 months before I made the decision to buy, and I knew what I was getting myself into.

Standard: That pic of the bloated hand wasnt a preacher was it? Ive heard of snakehandler preachers dancing around w/ snakes...
It turns out these venomus snakes are on the endangered list. Not supposed to keep or kill them. I will probably keep this one for a while as it is a young snake. May even try to teach it the alphabet or how to ride a bike.
Note: The tupperware box I have it in doesnt have a lid. Its a tall orange juice container. Whats scary is I cant seem to see the snake anymore. It (hopefully) crawled on the bottom. Theres no ****ing way it jumped out>Knowing the danger this creature posseses now means I will probably get an aqaurium & prepare it w/ dirt. I may even like somebody said- trade it in. Its really a wicked looking snake though-

most of those 'snakehandling preachers' stun the snakes by putting them in a freezer.

dude, let it go! Even a very young copperhead contains enough poison to give you a good hurt.
