Someone I know, hehe, asked me how to remove ink from an electric dryer drum. Seems a pen was left in and leaked all over. They ( ) tried to use Goof off and WD-40 but nothing is working. What else can I, err they, try?

Thanks,
RedGT...

Depends what kind of ink.... once allot of inks are baked they aren't coming off.

Some inks can even get down into porcelan finishes. Nothing will get that out. Trying to do so could damage the finish way more than having an ink stain.

For ball point ink... try alcohol.

well my theory of seats my apply here..

If you try to get whatever off, and it doesn't come off, then chances are it wont' come off on you..

When u turn the dryer on, would the ink heat up and stain again?

Goo Gone and Goof Off both work well. You can pick either up at Wal-Mart. My daughter left a pen in her pocket and there was ink all over my new dryer. The Goof Off took it ALL off! Hope this helps!

If you are filling your ink cartrages, for your printers, you WILL get ink on your fingers and the only thing that will take out the ink besides time is ,bleach. Now I can't speak for pen ink but if all else fails
try it.

Ack! I had that happen a month ago... I tried everything. The dryer still looks festive. If you do find something that works, please share... It really isn't that bad because the ink is permanantly baked to the dryer, but everytime you open it up and look in, there's this awkward thought of ink getting on your just washed cloths.

Hairspray will work, as well as nail polish remover or toothpaste!

Yep, just spray that Aquanet ultra hold all in your dryer-a couple of cans should do it. Then turn that sucker on high heat-ink will be gone okay.
(Just jokin folks.)

OK then how about an old stock-boys trick.
Back in the old days, we used what was known as an "ink eraticator" to remove the prices off from can goods in a supermarket.
It was a small bottle about the size of a "C" size battery with a felt tip applicator. I dont know if they still use them today but its worth checking out.

Leaving pens in his pockets and putting them in the dryer is something my idiot of a husband does on a weekly basis. He uses toilet bowl cleaner and a dish washing pad to clean it. If I were to do it, I'd wear rubber gloves and rinse the dryer down after. However, he never does that...so I suppose you wouldn't have to .

Someone brought up ink carts.... try citrus(orange) based cleaners. That's what I use, get's most of it. Orange cleaners might also get the ink out of the drier. They even make citrus based paint remover now to give you an idea of how strong these products can get.
