I think the Miata's are more compact. If I were you I'd give it a test before I committed to anything.

I'm 6'1" and 190# and I owned one for a couple of years. It doesn't have as much room as a Fiero and no Miatas ever came with tilt steering wheel so fitting your legs under the wheel could be a problem if you have great big thighs. The 90-97's actually have more room than the 99-04 models. They are really fun and handle great and are as reliable as any other little Japanese car. For more info on size/fit go to http://forum.miata.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi and use the search function for previous threads. There are some tricks like taking some foam out of the seat bottom but you should be OK at 6'0", especially if it's older than '99.

Is it for your wife and you might, on the odd chance, have to drive it. Is that why you ask?

I drove a 93 or 94 model, I don't remember which, but it was a 5spd and it was very uncomfortable driving in traffic and having to work the clutch. I had to hold my knee to the side to keep it from banging against the wheel. I am 6' 2" and was about 250lbs at the time.

Why not go to a car lot, and sit in one? Your'e going to have to live with it, so you'll have to decide.
I know someone 6'4 who owns multiple Fieros, and feels right at home. I'm 6'2, and wish for a LITTLE more headroom...

I've driven on on a test drive, and didn't like it much. I'm 'built' strangely tho. I'm 6'4" 225 at the time I drove it.. Most of my height is above my waist. (I wear 32 length pants) I was literally pushing up into the roof, but had plenty of room for my legs. The only way I could drive comfortably was to scrunch down in the seat, and that wasn't something I wanted to do for very long. Can't remember which yr model it was.

My son (5'9" 190lbs) and his buddy (5'11" 275lbs) tried sitting in one at the Detroit International Auto Show this past January. They were both complaining about barely being able to close the door and being incredibly cramped even with the seat all the way back.

Miatas are built for short, skinny people who are feed rice. if you dont fit that discription you will not enjoy it.
