When I was a kid, there was this guy that had something very close to that car that lived in the Nieghborhood.
Actually I'm 99% certain. I don't know if it was a kit car or not. He had it in his garage and took it out once in a while. This was back in the late 1980's. It was real sweet. Also the dude wife drove a yellow Fiero GT, that I thought was super sweet also, and hense my love for Fieros started.

Absolutely gorgeous car. I was watching this one, but simply couldn't justify bringing it home for myself. Pretty cool that someone here bought it. Very wicked !!
P.S. Curious, did you check it out before buying it? or simply go on faith?

Faith. Hopefully it won't come back and bite me. I've talked with the guy on the phone and he seems very honest. He's even willing to transport it both ways. I may just fly up there and drive it back.
Why is the air cleaner a fire hazard?

What Crazyone said. My 57 Chevy came with the same type filter and everyone I met told me the same thing..GET IT OFF. The filter was only a few months old and had huge holes all throughout it.....that stuff went directly into the engine. Summit racing has lots that look like they will fit your application with the triangular shape. I added this one to my car : http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLine/Products/AMS/AMSAC/f64280.html
Again, VERY nice ride! ------------------

That's a nice looking air filter. There is a stock manta airbox that sits above the deck but I'm not positive it will work without a different adapter. If the airflow is good enough then I'll buy it.
Thanks all for the remarks. I certainly hope (and expect) that I'll be very happy with this car. I imagine that I'll be $15K into it by the end of the year, so I better be happy with it.

Yeah, a few butterflies. It didn't help that the drum brakes need work (well, need to be replaced with rotors) and the shifter was under my right leg in 1st and 2nd. Damn, that engine sounds good though.
If you backfire you can set the air filter on fire. I've also heard that the foam can deteriorate and get sucked into the engine, not good.
What they all said. I had 2 of them burn up and they do it in a matter of seconds.
Nice buy too. There was one at a Concours Show this past weekend. It was done up like a Can AM racecar with racing interior and decals. It had a Corvette 327.
