That's a wild question. The problem is, every mullet head with a black Trans Am made between 75 and 81 calls it a "Bandit." Pontiac actually made a "Bandit" (SE or Special Edition) Trans Am. Motor Trend did a road test of it. It was done by an outside conversion company, similar to the SLP Firehawks. I believe it was done in 1980. It had a 455 engine, and a Doug Nash 5-speed transmission, and it cost $30,000. In 1982, you could get a loaded Trans Am for about $14k - $15k, so it was extrememly expensive for the day.
I've never seen one or read about one other than that old Motor Trend article. One of those would probably fetch a huge sum, if you had documentation. There were also other Bandit or SE Trans Ams, made from '76 - 81. I believe those were cosmetic only. They would be less valuable, but more so than a regular TA.
You can find lots of info on the web. Here's one site I found from Google: http://www.bandittransamclub.com/index.html They appear to be interested in real Bandits, and not just any black TA.
I'm sure others will chime in with more specific info.

Also isn't the "original" Bandit aka 77 Trans Am optioned as Y-81 and Y-82 I beileve?? There was 2 versions
Y-81 is the Bandit Version with black exterior and gold trim And Y-82(i'm pretty sure 82) was the opposite. Gold and etc.
I have a link somewhere around here explaining this cool Firebird. I love Smokey and the Bandit, I saw it when I was younger and fell in love with the movie. I also watched it the other night, its still good . I never did see the 2nd and 3rd one. The DVD collection is like $15 at Wal-Mart.

If you can document that it was used in the movie, prob worth quite a bit. All the thousands of clone ones Pontiac sold to public arent worth much. The ones that arent hot rodded or modded to pieces and still in decent shape cant be worth much more than a few grand give or take a few.
Just my opinion, since I have no facts to back me up.

also when the 2nd movie came out, a few bandit 2 firebirds were made in 89. By an outside company in TN. Only thing they did was stitch bandit 2 to the seat, put on GTA rims aka fiero gt rims, shitty rocker panels and a fake shaker hood.

The SE option in the 70's was coded Y82 or Y84 for the black SE option and Y88 for the gold SE option. SE cars came with the following items in gold: Steering wheel spokes, emblems, sail panel bird, engine turned instrument panel, grills, as well as special decals.
quote
What is the bandit option? The black SE Trans Am cars were nicknamed Bandit Trans Am. In 1980 there were actually some cars built with the Bandit name that were officially licensed and had 455 engines transplanted in them.

Building on the success of the black and gold Limited Edition Trans Am of 1976, Pontiac continued with the same formula and offered the Special Edition package again in 1977. It came in two different combinations, one without the T-top roof (Y81) and the other with the T-top roof (Y82). The majority of these came with the T-top roof which were shipped to Hurst for the installation. Adding to the popularity of the car was its lead role in, what is arguably one of the best "car" movies of all time, "Smokey and the Bandit". While the Trans Am SE is not a rare car, Pontiac sold over 15,000 Special Edition Trans Ams in 1977, it is a very desirable and collected car today.
quote
The Special Edition package contained many unique features such as:
Black Paint with Gold pin-stripes Back and Gold "screaming chicken" hood decal Gold accented Snowflake cast aluminum wheels Blacked-out window trim Gold grille Gold swirl dash panel Gold spooked steering wheel
This featured 1977 Trans Am SE is owned by Darrell Reddix. He bought this, numbers matching, one owner "Bandit" on Ebay earlier this year. It came with all of the original documentation such as the original sale receipt and loan papers. The original owner had restored it in 1993, needed only a little TLC to bring this SE back to its former glory. The car was ordered with T-Top roof, A/C, power windows, cruise, tilt wheel, AM/FM Stereo, and of course the Y82 Special Edition package. Darrell has since added new hood bird, decals, and gold pin-striping that really give is a whole new look.
Here is some pictures, note the gold interior and etc.
I'll try to find a picture of the "Gold" edition with the gold paint & such...Anyone know where I can get a CB Radio?? Smokey out lol.

Well which "Bandit" cars? There are the ones from the Movie(s), The ones made by Nuzio (sp?) in New York which were built up and have the dashboard signed by Burt Reynolds. Or the standard "replica" sold by the dealerships? The Nuzio cars were built from 1977 thru 1981. Most had the 400 engine, But near the end they had to use the 455 engines because the 400 engines were harder to get as GM phased them out. (That is why the Olds 403 was used as well in the production cars.) Last I heard they only built around 130ish cars. (134 sounds about right) I've seen the Nuzio Bandits go for high $20K's to low $30K's on Ebay. The factory replica's in decent condition are around $15k-$20K Don't know what the movie cars would go for.

Where did you get the info on the officially licenses 1980 "Bandit" with the 455? That's the one I remember from Motor Trend, but I haven't been able to find anything on the web about them.

What was the RPO for the confederate flag license plate? Or is that just a requirement for the club?
