did the dwarf die of natural causes? was it night time? are there lights on in the room? is there a phone in the room? did the dwarf have a heart attack? Does the man outside know the dwarf is dead? Did the man outside know the dwarf before he killed him?

1. Is it a walking cane? 2. Or is it a cane used by the blind to detect obstacles? 3. Was the cane shortened to make the dwarf think he was taller? I know I've heard a riddle or something that involved that, but I can't remember anything else about it...
did the dwarf die of natural causes?***** Ummmm...yes, but no at the same time******* was it night time?****NOT RELEVANT**** are there lights on in the room?***DITTO*** is there a phone in the room?***DITTO***** did the dwarf have a heart attack?***YES!!****** Does the man outside know the dwarf is dead?***YES!***** Did the man outside know the dwarf before he killed him?*******YYYEEESSSSSSS!!!!!!! !!
1. Is it a walking cane?****YES**** 2. Or is it a cane used by the blind to detect obstacles?*****YES!!****** 3. Was the cane shortened to make the dwarf think he was taller? I know I've heard a riddle or something that involved that, but I can't remember anything else about it...YES!!!!!!! WHOOO_HOOO!!!!
Is it over then? Do we have to solve why the killer was jumping up and down outside the window? Was it to see the dwarf die? Was it because he was elated that his plan worked?
No!! It is by no means over!! The easy part has been arrived at..the dwarf outside instigated the death of the dwarf inside..we have some blurred ideas about HOW he killed him, but nothing definite. We also have NO ideas propounded as to WHY he wanted the dwarf inside to die,,,REAL lateral thinking, and controlled imagination and perception are called for!! You need to discover WHY he wanted the dwarf inside dead. You need to define exactly HOW he perpertrated the demise of the dwarf inside..and how he brought it about!!! A clue..could this all be about the inevitable human ego...which MIGHT be the answer to BOTH sides of the riddle Nick

Were the two dwarves business partners? Were they entertainers, such as circus performers? Did the dead dwarf depend on his small size for his livelihood?
...does Stu ask too many questions all at once? ***YES!*** Sorry, couldn't help myself, this is getting more interesting all the time.

Okay - recap: One dwarf surreptitiously shortens the walking cane of another, sleeping dwarf. Sleeping dwarf then wakes up, grabs (the now short) cane, stands up, thinks "Oh my gosh - I'm suddenly tall," is so shocked and dismayed that he has a heart attack, and falls back onto the bed, dead. Correct?
Typical accident...

add bumps into other dwarf causing him to fall out of the window breaking his leg, he then stands up and starts hopping on one leg.
Yes...but why?? That is what the whole thing's about ..or shall I tell you now ????!!!!

Is a wager involved? In other words, did the happily hopping dwarf just win a bet (kind of a lame guess, but that's all that springs to my tiny little mind) ?
Wait a minute - is an estate involved (another lame guess)?
Hmmm... was the dwarf going to win a "world's smallest living man" contest? Something like that?
More generally, let me ask: Would the dead dwarf's reward (fame, happiness, etc.) be received by the other dwarf, if the first were to die? Is that why the hoppy dwarf caused the other's death?

Wow - that was it? I thought I was really grasping at straws on that one, actually. Stu thinks, "Maybe I'm not as dumb as I look... "
If you weren't kidding about the prize... how about something Spanish (other than moss, please - we have that here )? Anything that's small, shippable and would remind me of Spain, you, this puzzle or whatever. Oh, except please don't send me a dwarf - dead or alive ....
If you were kidding - thanks for the puzzle in any case. I enjoy puzzles in general - this one was unique and fun.
