This weekend, the city (I guess that's who it was) painted a big white X (or + depending on how you look at it) in the street by the building where I work. This pic is from my 6th floor window.

I've seen these on highways, supposedly so the bear-in-the-air can clock the cars and catch someone speeding (and then radio the po-po squad car waiting up around the bend). But this sure ain't no highway, as it's on a tight corner, on a street that's only a 1/4 mile long.

Anybody know what this is all about?

That was from the spaceship dropping off more workers for walmart.. they do this every so often so they can monitor us.. do you have any new workers at your nearest walmart or in your office?

You should make another one on the other side.

Then again it might confuse the people that made the first one.

I really like Talon's idea. That would really confuse the folks who originally painted the X. Please do that and post another photo. Ed

Do the lines happen to point towards North, South, East, and West? If so, then it's one of the calibration markers for the orbital defense system.

If'n there is a odd looking nail / spike in the center it is probably just a survey point.
If it looks like a small crystal, its a retro prism. Destroy this, on a cloudy day, spill something like black paint on the crystal, and call in sick for 2 days.
It may already be too late!

Um... as a matter of fact, they do point exactly North, South, East, and West.

When I left work yesterday, I saw the main street down the block has another one.

I saw Signs. OMG, another Mel Gibson movie!!! What's going on here?!

What were the odds on it being exactly on a concrete seam.

Local control line airplane club is using your pavement for a landing strip since its round. X keeps them from crashing in the curb..........

Its a reference point for Google Earth. Yall buy that? OK this is what it is--

Its where the street light will fall in the street. For now the X is drawing the the light out of the bulb so it can luminate the area. When the X starts to get full of light it will start to fade away. Once this happens the city will have to replace the light bulb. Notice the flag on the pole. That is the starter to help the light go to the X. It also helps the light keep coming out if a car should park on the X.

And That What it Is!
