wow just seen this linked from tech and im really sorry to hear about the health issues.
i have gone thru a very similar situation, i passed out once when i was 19. completely healthy and never had a problem but i randomly passed out. went to the doctor and they said it was a heart valve issue, and that i can live to be 120 years old or i could die tomarrow. i was given the option to get a heart valve replacement but was told that might cause more problems, or i could take a medication for the rest of my life. i personaly chose neither due to the hatred for medication and procedures. Im currently 25 and have had only 1 other incident with passing out and it has me thinkin about looking into the medication. so if i can bite my pride with hopes of living to see my fiero running and painted you can do the same.
Best of luck,
Todd

Just spoke to Jazzman. He is in the hospital, stated emphatically that the food was nasty. He is scheduled to have tests tomorrow. I sincerely believe hearing from all of us has cheered him up. He said that he had received several phone calls. Thanked me for calling and checking on him. Told him to follow the docs orders and this would all turn out good.

glad he decided to go. I'm workin' on something for when he gets out... (think he prefers blondes or brunettes?)
Then again, maybe that wouldn't be the best thing for his ticker...

Be sure to tell him everyone is rooting for him. ( but some of us don't want to call and bug him )

The procedure has been moved to afternoon sometime as JazzMan mentioned on the phone. I mentioned the sandwich that monkeyman posted, probably sounded better than what he's getting. JazzMan said "It would insult a trash bucket if I threw my breakfast into it".
Poor guy, doesn't sound like his insurance coverage is going to cover much for him, I sure hope and pray that he gets fixed up and back on his feet as quickly as possible.
It is so nice to associate a voice with his PFF username, I'm glad I called and chatted with him. I told JazzMan that I know of several folks who have been through the same, all bouncing off the walls now. I told him we're all pulling for him, I think that made him feel better in spirit.

Jazz, I had a heart attack at 35, and they stented me, then one at 37 and got 2 more stents in different arteries, the last 2 stents were installed in 2000 and no problems since. Crappy genes and too many Marlboros in my misguided youth! Anyhow, the procedures were a breeze, I feel great and have no limitations. The money end will work out.
Feel better,
Jim

I'm quite sorry to hear of your situation. It is not often I here of things like this where there is so little time left for things to go incredibly wrong. Nothing left but to charge into it and hope for the best. Dont get stressed. Godspeed and courage to you, Jazz.
Talked to him a bit ago. James is upbeat, but obviously a little anxious about what the test will show tomorrow. If it indicates a blockage in the chest, they will likely do whatever is necessary immdiately after the test results. If it is in the heart muscle itself, he was unsure what course of action they would take or recomend.
I was unaware that he has no family at all--with one exception. and the 2 evidently are not close. His family is here, at PFF and perhaps acouple of other internet groups. So, if you can, give him a call--the phone # is in the first post. He was awake and alert, a little while ago and told me he always has his cell phone on.
I told him that there have been over 800 views in about a single day, on page 2, and he seemed both surprised and grateful to hear it. Outside his rating bar, I don't think he realizes the impact he has had here. There is a reason for that. His Asperger's Disorder/Syndrome.
I was unaware he had Asperger's disorder. He had posted about it while I was offline for over 1 year, but mentioned it in his post at the start of this thread. Adult Asperger patients have a difficult time 'reading' other people's emotions--even face to face and they are almost Spock-like themselves, meaning logic driven instead of emotionally driven. If you are like I was, (ignorant) here are a couple of links. http://www.aspergers.org/wh...pergers_syndrome.htm
Some traits that are typical of Asperger's syndrome, such as attention to detail and focused interests, can increase chances of university and career success. Many people with Asperger's seem to be fascinated with technology, and a common career choice is engineering. However, scientific careers are by no means the only areas where people with Asperger's excel. Indeed, many respected historical figures have had symptoms of Asperger's, including Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, and Thomas Jefferson.
/\ Sounds just like him doesn't it?

When I called him, I tried to cheer him up a bit by letting him know that all I was having for dinner was a PB sandwich. I told him I'd post pics of it here that he could see when he got back online.
Ting that is worrying me, is his property is unattended, and I seem to remember he had some problems with youths breaking in a while back. And how will he manage in recovery, if he lives on his own?.Anybody live near enough tocheck his house out now and again? How much would it be to get a Security Company to protect it for a while? I'll gladly sling in $250 to a Fund to help James.. Nick
Jazzman just do what ever you need to do to get well. We're all pulling for you and miss you here. Get well soon!! I too would help with the suggestion above.

Yo nick,
I checked into private security, and they claimed they (Guardsmark inc. and Securitas inc. I think it is the same company.) can set up 3 shifts of guards outside his home in a security car, but it would be cheaper to hire a police detail. Police in Fort Worth were not cooperative because I did not have James exact address, and Dallas police have not called me back. I know on this coast (James is in the south west, I am in the north east. Things may be cheaper) average police detail is around $75-$125 an hour (minimum 4 hours).
If there are any PFF friends who live around James, maybe they could drop by and check up on him and his home. It was a grand idea, but I think it might be too expensive.
Myke
EDIT: Maybe we could ask the police to drop by and check up on his home? Or do you think this might draw too much attention to the fact that James is not there?

Prayers, positive enrgy, good thoughts... all being sent James' way. Personally I consider him one of the cornerstones of this forum, and has helped me out numerous times.

OK, just got off the phone with Jazzman, we have both good and bad news. The good: Jazzman is not necessarily in immediate danger of a heart attack. He will/should be released from the hospital today. The bad: He has an erraditic/increased heart rate that they have not been able to explain, he will probably be taking some pretty strong medication to control the heart rate.
He will probably be forced to take medication the rest of his life or there is the possibilty of a special surgery (don't ask me what it was/is) to kill some of the heart cells that they think are causing the problem. Anyway, that's what I understood James to say. May have gotten some it confused.
Jazzman and I have had some pretty intense discussions in the past but, that does not mean I don't recognize his contribution to our community or care personally. As I told him, he needs to get better so that I'll have someone to "discuss" politics with.
Also, he told me to tell the vultures that he isn't dead yet and to stay away from his Fiero and other stuff. Yep, he's on his way back!

I t/w James just before and after he had the dye proceedure done. Things were very hectic for him, and I don't think the hospital has the best reception for his cell phone.
The results, IMO, were kinda disappointing. The good news is that James's major heart vessels are unrestricted, no need for a stint or by-pass. While that sounds great, the bad part is that does not explain why his ticker parts are mis-firing. (Yes... for those of you who do not know... 'ticker parts' IS a medical term)
They are suggesting that he now see an electrical heart specialist.
Personally, I'd rather that they had found something and took steps to fix it... so at this point, they just eliminated another possibility. I don't think James would mind my sharing his mailing address, I will PM it to those that ask.

My mom has erratic electrical impulses to the heart which like Jazzman, they can't fix other than by using medications... (or at one time a pace maker, but hers wasn't bad enough for that) so even though that sounds like not the best possible outcome, it is a lot easier and cheaper in this case to treat than open heart surgery would have been..
So I'm thanking God that they have a somewhat simple solution, and that Jazzman is on the road to a full recovery and hoping the money thing won't be much of a problem for him!!
Anyway, blackrams, (or anyone else who calls him!!) continue to send James our well wishes for a speedy recovery.. and hoping he feels much better really soon with the correct medicines!!
I just got done talking to James. He wanted me to tell everyone that he's overwhelmed by all the responses and calls that he has gotten so far. I think it's making his life a bit more easy to take. I told him that we all loved him and would miss him if something were to happen. To reiterate what everone said above, there are no blockages, and it's down to the electrical part of the heart. The beta blockers (meds) aren't helping as they should, so it's off to the specialist he goes. I wish I was closer since he doesn't have anyone to go through this with, but I'm a bit far away. So, keep the phone calls coming!! I'm sure it's hard on him not having any family around to support him. But then again, aren't we all just one big family around here?
He said he'll be back on the forum as soon as he can. He misses this place. He also said to thank everyone!
So, from Jazzman, THANK YOU ALL!!!
