Our thoughts and prayers are with each and every one of you tonight. We pray for the safety and security of you and your families.
There is little else we can do right now. At this late hour many of you may be without power by now, or moved to higher ground and safety.
We know that the very real possibility exists that some of you will need help once the storm has passed.
Toward that concern, I am hereby proposing that this thread be dedicated to all PFF members who wish to offer help to our friends. To kick this off, my wife and I are offering our home as refuge to any who's home in Texas is lost in this horrible catastrophy. While we do not have an abundance of room, we do have plenty of hospitality and a genuine desire to share our blessings with our friends in need.
Once you all are able to communicate with any friends here on PFF I hope that you will let us all know that you are well and safe.
I ask all our PFF friends to post to this thread and make it known what help they might be able to offer should it be needed.
I also ask that our PFF family in Texas not be shy about letting us know what help you might need. Know that many of us genuinely care and stand ready to help in any way we can.
Randy

A genuine and kind gesture and words Randye. Let's hope none need anything more than patience to get thru the coming weeks-probably without electrical power..

Thanks Randye. I am well out of harms way. I have been very busy lately. Too busy to post or even lurk much. So, I do not notice who has not posted, ie, who is missing. I have not seen a post from jscott1, fieroreinke, and others that I can not recall just now. A list of the missing would be good to have. I was evacuated from my job location in Victoria County and will be soon going back. It is just a little over 100 miles from the affected area. I have non forum friends in the Houston area. I expect to be going to help, as I can. I am not organized (my equipment is not trailered) but I have a professional steam cleaner, chain saws, a welder/generator, and other helpful items. Including a strong back. I also have two spare bedrooms. As mentioned, do not be shy about asking for help.

I'm sure my mom's house got hit pretty good. She is just southwest of Houston. As well as my grandmother and some aunts, uncles and cousins. I haven't been able to reach anyones cell phone. The house phone is down of course. I know someone is watching over her and everything will be just fine.

Wish we could hear from Don and Jane ,but they're under the gun right now and odds they have power are slim to none.
It could be weeks before we hear from them. I went through Isabel, which was just a Cat 1 hurricane. I was without power for 3 weeks. After the hurricane is when the hard work begins. God protect those of you in the hurricane landfall zone.

My relatives left the Clear lake area, and other relatives have not had to leave (Bay City, Texas) I offered my home (I am stationed in KS) to them but none said they needed it. If anyone wants to see up to the minute reporting in the areas affected by IKE:
(Its ABC 13 out of Houston) They are reporting many areas are without power, flooding and lots of broken glass, however, most of the homes and such seem to be OK.
I hope it comes out OK there.
The fallout from Ike: They are telling us AS FAR NORTH AS KANSAS to be prepared for flooding and HEAVY rains in excess of 6 inches per hour.
Clearly its not over yet.

I stayed up until 2:00 AM my time (3 AM "Ike" time) to make sure nothing was catastrophically wrong in Houston and Galveston as the eye wall went over.
I was born and raised in Houston and 90% of my family is there and had planned to hunker down and ride it out. I'm guessing they are fine, but one of the houses, my grandmother's, has a tendency to flood, so I'll just have to wait until I hear from them.

That would be a great service for us as we will be busy busy busy. Might I suggest that you incorporate this into your first post. You own it and are the only one that can edit it. You might include any offers for help. When I held a rally, it was really helpful that the first post contained all the important information. I am fixin to head back down to landfall for my job.

Finally got a hold of mom. They are out of power but everything else is good. We lost a few boards to the fence and an attic vent blew off. It may have hit the car but no signs of damage yet. An old high school friend of mine that lives less than a mile away has power. All mine are ok. Still praying for the rest of you.
News from neighbors is that we have about 4 feet of water in our house. Not sure when I'll be able to make it back in to assess the situation completely. We're all safe and sound though.
I'm sure the Fiero is a total loss as it's in the garage and only has liability insurance on it. ------------------ --David
This may be handy. NOAA has a damage estimate imaging program. As soon as possible, after a hurricane, high definition aerial photos are taken and put on line. Usually 1 to 3 days after land fall. No link to the Ike photos, but I substituted Ike in the address for for the Katrina photos and the index page is built. I suspect the photos will be up tomorrow. You can use this site to check a home, boat, whatever. Just keep checking it. http://ngs.woc.noaa.gov/ike/
At the site you can link to other hurricane images to see how it works.

Just spoke with MaryJane, he asked me to find out where they could find running water and electricity. They have neither. If you have any knowledge that might help, please respond in this thread: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum6/HTML/059045.html
Thanks

Update on my house... As of about an hour ago...heard that there is water up to the eves.
Definitely...the Fiero is lost(it is in the garage).
atleast your alright, the fiero can be repaired even if it has been sitting under the water for a couple days, but you cannot be repaired, so hold together and keep your chin up, all your going to have to do to your fiero is charge the battery, change the oil and fuel a couple times, and start it up
Don & Jane...Checked in OK, but without power or water, seeking nearest location for same Jonathon Scott (Jscott)...Checked in OK texasfiero fieroreinke josefiero (I think, out of Point Blank) dcfox...Checked in OK, house underwater, including Fiero
OP has been update accordingly. Posted again here to bump

Good to hear everyone's safe and sound. Hope others are ready for the rain and winds. We're expecting it tonight/tomorrow.
AT 400 AM CDT...0900Z...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION IKE WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 36.4 NORTH...LONGITUDE 92.5 WEST OR NEAR BULL SHOALS ARKANSAS. THIS POSITION IS ALSO ABOUT 115 MILES...185 KM...NORTH OF LITTLE ROCK ARKANSAS...AND ABOUT 75 MILES...120 KM...SOUTHEAST OF SPRINGFIELD MISSOURI.
IKE IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHEAST NEAR 30 MPH...50 KM/HR. A GENERAL MOTION TOWARD THE NORTHEAST WITH AN ADDITIONAL INCREASE IN FORWARD SPEED IS EXPECTED DURING THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. THIS MOTION SHOULD BRING THE CENTER OF IKE THROUGH THE MID-MISSISSIPPI VALLEY TODAY AND INTO THE EASTERN GREAT LAKES STATES BY MONDAY MORNING.
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 35 MPH...55 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER GUSTS. IKE SHOULD LOSE TROPICAL CHARACTERISTICS DURING THE NEXT 12 TO 24 HOURS AS IT MERGES WITH A COLD FRONT. THE SYSTEM COULD STRENGTHEN AS A NON-TROPICAL LOW SUNDAY NIGHT OR MONDAY. WINDS OF 30 TO 35 MPH...50 TO 55 KM/HR...WITH GUSTS OF 40 TO 45 MPH...65 TO 70 KM/HR...HAVE BEEN REPORTED AT SEVERAL STATIONS IN EASTERN ARKANSAS DURING THE PAST FEW HOURS.
THE ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE BASED ON SURFACE OBSERVATIONS IS 986 MB...29.12 INCHES.
WATER LEVELS WILL GRADUALLY SUBSIDE ALONG THE UPPER TEXAS AND SOUTHWESTERN LOUISIANA COASTS TODAY.
IKE IS EXPECTED TO PRODUCE ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 3 TO 5 INCHES FROM MISSOURI INTO ILLINOIS...NORTHERN INDIANA...AND SOUTHERN LOWER MICHIGAN THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING.
ISOLATED TORNADOES ARE POSSIBLE TODAY FROM SOUTHEASTERN MISSOURI AND THE TENNESSEE VALLEY NORTHEASTWARD THROUGH THE OHIO VALLEY.
IKE has made it to St Louis! Been a while Since I've seen this much water come down! I drained my 4person hot tub today to work on the heater and IKE has already dumped 2' of water into it (somewhere around 75 gallons) in about 2 hours!! Its freakin NUTS! I have a satellite photo of the storm circle but again PIP is giving me trouble. I'm off to bed and hope all is well by the time I wake.

Not a whole lot to report. I am a refugee--staying in Arkansas for a few days before we return to Cleveland. Folks, the damage to the Upper Texas Coast is tremendous. The loss of life will be comparitively low, but there will be trememndous property losses. Jane & I will be fine, and our losses will be very minor, compared to those closer to the coast, and our inconvience factor is miniscule.
I drove north from Cleveland, and went 142 miles before I came to a town with electricity. There are, 1000s of pine trees down on utility lines from the coast to Tyler. Ice, and food are the biggest problem, since there is little electricity for grocery stores. Thankfully, a coolfront blew in.
I came through fine. Minor fence damage and a tree broke. I had power back Sunday evening. I'm only aware of the situation in the Sugar Land area and downtown. The power situation is real spotty, can change over just a few blocks. I know several people still without power and some without water. Gas and food are available, still lots of lines as of yesterday.
It's been weird coming in to work today and yesterday. It's about a 25 mile drive for me, most of it down Hwy 59 (about 5 lanes each direction) in the dark. The freeway is lined with businesses. I'll go form one section with street lights and all the business signs going, into a dead zone and back again. Very little traffic coming in yesterday, not a lot this morning. Very few people are downtown as most businesses are closed. Pretty much all the school districts in the area are closed. It's kind of surreal.
