I have a rule...when I'm eating...no more than 2 beers or 1 mixed drink...when I'm not eating no more than 1 beer. Of course...if I'm not driving...all bets are off.

This is the problem with the way drunk driving laws are set up right now. They keep lowering the limit more and more, but they don't actually enforce the law. They bust drunks, slap 'em on the wrist and cut them loose to do it over and over. It's absurd, most likely motivated entirely by the generation of funds through fines assessed on people who may have blown above the "legal limit" but in reality, aren't impaired in any way shape or form. It would be a LOT better if they'd raise the limits back to something reasonable, and then set some "oh sh*t" mandatory sentences/fines/jail times, and then ENFORCE the laws AND the sentences. But there's not as much money in that process, so they never will....

What’s it going to take? It may not even be your fault, you could pull out in front of someone because they didn’t have head lights on. Next thing you know your in jail and someone is hurt.
Slow down brother, its just not worth it.
April 17th will be 10 years without a drink, did I have to quit drinking? No but I found that it wasn’t the driving that was the problem and it wasn’t the drinking that was a problem. It was the stopping one to do the other. I cant give up driving so I gave up drinking.
now if I could just give up the rest of my bad habits
Just do what my boss does. Use your influence and connections to make your DUI's disappear. So far, he's done that with four of his own and now one for his son. The only end I see to that is someone getting hurt. Both of them drive an H2. He just woke up and left here about ten minutes ago. He's going to the bar he always goes to six nights a week. So you never know, tonight could be the night he ends up killing someone.

"It's usually in your wallet," replied the officer. After fumbling for a few minutes, the driver managed to find it. "Now may I see your registration?" asked the cop.
"Registration..... what's that....?" asked the blonde.
"It's usually in your glove compartment." said the cop impatiently. After some more fumbling, she found the registration.
"I'll be back in a minute." said the cop and walked back to his car. The officer phoned into the dispatch to run a check on the woman's license and registration. After a few moments, the dispatcher came back, "Ummm... is this woman driving a red sports car?"
"Yes." replied the officer
"Is she a drop dead gorgeous blonde?" asked the dispatcher
"Uh... yes." replied the cop.
"Here's what you do." said the dispatcher. "Give her the stuff back, and drop your pants."
"What!!? I can't do that. Its... inappropriate." exclaimed the cop.
"Trust me. Just do it." said the dispatcher.
So the cop goes back to the car, gives back the license and registration and drops his pants, just as the dispatcher said.
The blonde looks down and sighs..... "Ohh no... not another breathalyzer......"

Got to agree
Cliff WTF
Been 20 years without a drink for me, don't miss it at all.
Don't miss not remembering what I did the night before or how I got home.
Cliff get your act together.
I don't have that many friends here, I would hate to loose one because of his own stupidity.
It only took one DUI to get me, that and a frind of mine who explained it to me this way,
You are driving down the road to your house, you only had 2 beers, not enough to put you over the limit, but enough to impair you ever so slightly.
Your kid walks out in front of you,
Are you going to stop in time?

My decision about drinking came early in life. I was but a wee lad and it was Thanksgiving. For whatever reason, my daddy and I had to go out and find another pumpkin pie. He had had a little too much by then but we went out anyway. I was too young to really know what was going on. Nothing happened except for the police pulling my daddy over and I had to wait in the jail for my momma to come get the both of us. This was at a time when the punishment for DUI wasn't very strict. But seeing your daddy in cuffs on Thanksgiving had a big impact on me. Lucky nothing else happened. I'm not a tea totaller. I have the occasional beer. But I never drive if I've had more than one over a certain amount of time. My daddy has since then completely quit drinking and my momma made a different decision but occasionally remembers my name.

There is a way to beat the system you know. When you drink, don't drive, hand the keys to the Designated Driver or don't drink.

How do you keep drunks off the road? I say lets start enforcing penalties like they do in South America. You get caught driving drunk, you get set up in front of a firing squad. That should put an end to it.

Wheres the Kaboom, there is supposed to be an earth shattering Kaboom!
WTF is wrong with you, especially after getting nailed repeatedly for the offense? Take a cab, call a friend (although that gets old for friends FAST), call a relative, take a nap, stop getting freaking drunk outside your home.
Time for AA dude, you've got a drinking problem. When I used to go out regularly with friends to play darts at pubs, I'd just switch to soda an hour or two before closing to give my body time to metabolize the alcohol (I didn't drink to get drunk anyways) and rehydrate. In high school I had a friend and coworker taken out right next to me while biking home from work one night by a drunk that crossed lanes and was running about 2-3x the speed limit. I have no pity for you getting nailed a third time. When I moved into my present house, we had drainage ditches on both sides of our street and my house was the point plus or minus a hundred feet that drunks from 2 bars up the street seemed to lose control at least monthly and put their cars in the ditch. I relished making those 911 calls... buncha dumasses.

I'll wait to ask questions until he posts a bit more information.

Maybe it's a test to see how fast everyone will jump on him. I noticed the same thing you did, a long time ago back when I originally posted. Ya think he typed it from the computer in jail?

ummm here in Missouri, about 3/4 of a can of beer within one hour will put you over the limit if you weigh aprx 200 pounds.

Amen. Anybody that drives while impaired deserves to die. And I can only hope they die before they breed or kill anyone else. There's absolutely NO excuse for it and I have zero sympathy for anyone that gets caught. In my mind, the ones that get caught are getting off too easy. Kill them before they kill someone else.

that would be just about EVERYONE. impaired is VERY vague - sleepy is impaired. picking nose is impaired. faulty equipment is impaired. eating/drinking is impaired. plain old "stupid" is impaired.
every morning is a HUGE parade of impaired drivers - few of them drunk.
killing people is already illegal. punishing people for something they didnt do is silly.
And so..you are advocating let them kill somebody, before charging them? Are you serious? Nick Edit: just read the last line of your post..they have already done something wrong..everybody knows alcohol impairs ability to do anything 100%,on a sliding scale dependant upon how much they drink. They are not being punished for NOT killing somebody..they are being punished for each step nearer to that possibility that they voluntarily take. Zero tolerance..no alcohol whilst driving. The fact that some people think they can drive just as well with alcohol in their bloodstream as without, and are 'seasoned drinkers' who can tolerate more alcohol than somebody else when driving , is the major cause of most alcohol-related accidents. They really believe it..and THERE is where the problem lies. Take that element of chance away, and then it is black or white. You have alcohol in your system, and you drive..you don't any more.Ever. Brutal? No. It is doing everybody a favour..drinkers and non-drinkers alike. There is no room for illusion, delusion about, or conviction in, one's ability to drive with even 1 measure of alcohol in their system. The question will not even arise. Nick

Using that logic, should we let the blind drive too? It'd only be a crime once they ran over someone at a crosswalk or created a new drive-thru at a restaurant. I suppose it may take you losing someone close to you to a drunk driver before you think otherwise. Not flaming you or anything. I just find a flaw in your logic. Some of what you're talking about is considered distracted driving. You have your wits and senses about you, but you've shifted your focus onto something else. Whereas impaired driving, your wits and senses are already dulled and you have lessened your ability to operate a vehicle. Both are a crime. But with one, you're affected throughout the operation of the vehicle. With the other, you may only be affected for a moment.
