Note, I do realize that many people who have serious drinking experience can be fully functional at the fairly low blood alcohol levels in current legislation (but that's no excuse), so in situations where a sober driver causes an accident with a driver who had one or two beers an hour before the accident would be classified as alcohol related. With that in mind I suspect that the actual alcohol figures are quite a bit lower than portrayed. JazzMan
'Ya know, last week I heard on the radio that Texas drivers are being arrested in record numbers despite all efforts to curb the practice of drinking and driving. I suspect it is the same in all states. I have had more DWIs in the last three years than I have had in the previous twenty nine years. The numbers, I am guessing, are a result of the lower limits and drivers refusing to blow. My lawyer (from both above cases) has told me smelling like beer [u]will/u] get you arrested and to never blow. Even if you think you can pass. That the arrest video is the best defense and that one needs not provide evidence which, even if accurate, can be used against themselves. The case calamityjane mentioned ended up as an obstruction of highway ticket.

I have never been one who needed a good impression from others. I have morals and I feel shame from my DWI arrests. The way this arrest went down was wrong. From the way the game warden accused me of throwing away a beer can while he approached me, to the way he wrote in his report that I nearly ran into his rig, to the way he reported that he detained me when in fact he had to come back and hold me after talking to the state trooper. Be that as it may, that is not what concerns me in this topic post. My fight is with possibly becoming a felon. By grandfathering in old convictions which in my case were guilty pleas. In essence increasing the penalty of previous offenses. I would have fought the cases had I had the monies and found the monies if I knew I was placing myself at risk. When they reinstated the death penalty Charles Manson and previous death row inmates did not get new death dates. I do agree with those that want to curb drunken driving. I do also believe that DWI laws have become a cash cow. I have never had an alcohol related fender bender. I am always insured and stand to lose everything I own through lawsuits should my insurance not cover any damages (loss of a loved one). I think the standards are draconian and that by these standards that there are many many more drunk drivers on the road. I am surprised that bars are allowed to exist.

Got notice today. Dismissed. No reason given. Bastages, ! Felony bond, impound fees, missed a profitable day at work not to mention job security, attorney fees. I also missed my chance to fight the laws. I think I will have a beer.

How do you keep drunks off the road? I say lets start enforcing penalties like they do in South America. You get caught driving drunk, you get set up in front of a firing squad. That should put an end to it.
Caught or convicted ?

Wheres the Kaboom, there is supposed to be an earth shattering Kaboom!
WTF is wrong with you, especially after getting nailed repeatedly for the offense?
Time for AA dude, you've got a drinking problem.
Scott-Wa, where have you been. Miss your posts come to think about it. We all have problems. I do know that I like to drink too much. I do know that I could do other things. I also know that I am happy. I know that I care about my fellow man, from mowing the neighbor's yard, to volunteering, to never having an alcohol related accident. I like your post. I could do so much better. Not by going to AA though. Wish you luck.
I rarely post these days but this thread needs some enlightenment.
You guys that sit behind your computers and bash others really make me wonder what good you have done for others?? Cliff says he helps his fellow man and is a good person. THATS A FREAKING UNDERSTATMENT!!!!!
I never had a conversation with Cliff before I made this thread https://www.fiero.nl/forum/A...060206-6-034466.html Read thru it! He offers to put me up in his place by the lake for as long as I need! I took him up on his offer, sold everything that wouldnt fit in a fiero and took off for texas. I had never even seen a picture of the dude, we talked on the phone once.
I got to texas with about 200 bucks and a smile. He put me up just as he said he would, he introduced me to his friends, and I partied my butt off. I spend almost 3 months in texas and Cliff gave me some of the best advice I have ever heard. I was a lost young kid looking for answers and he provided them. He never asked me for anything, he GAVE me money and bought me groceries. He talked his buddies into working me when I was broke, and he always had a cold beer at the end of a hot summer day. (Even if it was Schlitz ) I think if it wasnt for Cliff and Cindy I would be in jail or strung out on dope, or something horrible of that nature. Probobly the two nicest people I will ever have the pleasure of knowing.
Cliff works in the oilfield and he introduced me to the lifestyle. I left Texas at the end of the summer and he still stayed in contact with me, coaching me, and just being there if I needed anything. I now work in the oilfield and would not have anything if it wasnt for Cliff. I just got a job as a Directional Driller making more in a day than most of you make in a week, all because of Cliff. (I know cliff how much money do I need right?) READ ABOUT IT HERE https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum6/HTML/043961.html
You take all the ideaology in the world and mix it with wisdom, compassion, and good ol' fashion grit and then you might get Cliff. You guys are like everyone else now days, so caught up on hot button words (DRUNK DRIVING) that you fail to look past the flaws to a really awesome person. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Oh, hell man....I've driven and raced so drunk I couldnt get off the machine, just fell off, and have crashed into a tree at WOT because I couldn't decide if the left or right tree was the real one, and after falling off sat there wondering why I picked wrong and analyzing my race line around the corner (such as I was able in my stupor)!!!
(of course, that was on private land riding a little 8hp snapper lawn tractor. BUT WHAT A HOOT !!!!! )

I know that money can not buy happiness. I also know that it makes misery more enjoyable, . I myself value my time more than money. Family, friends. dogs, homes, my tools and projects that I enjoy, ie...personal satisfaction. Not knocking your desires, just saying.

Bump from archives. Looking to get back my $500.00 bail money on a 10% $5,000.00 bond, and , my $175.00 tow/storage fee. Possibilities are good. It seems. As I said, all charges were dropped with no plea bargain negotiations. Even had I been guilty, they were lying crock suckers. Their vidio cam did not bear witness to their written report statements. I will not be able to get back the $300.00 in lost wages or the damage done to my reputation. Nor will I be able to recover the monies ( I did not even keep count ) I spent for legal representation. That sucks.
