Yes, that was the entire email. Including the missing use of capitals and punctuation marks. So I write back:
quote
Subject: Re: why did i get banned?
First of all, I have no idea who you are. Without emailing me a username as well, there's nothing I can do for you.
Second, I don't do the banning. The members do. So even if I knew your username I still wouldn't be able to tell you why the members voted you off. All I would be able to do is read a few of the threads you participated in and give you an *opinion* of why I think you got banned.
In very rare cases I can revert a ban. For instance when a single positive rating is all it would have taken to prevent a member from being banned, and when I hadn't rated that person myself yet. I could then simply rate that member positive to undo the ban.
So I got an email back and apparently, he was redfieroman2 here on the forum. I remembered him from posting the, errrr..., "strange phenomena" vids here in TO/T. I figured that couldn't be the reason why he was banned so I check his ratings. Turns out he did not receive a single positive rating and almost all of his negative ratings he got were from the thread I mention here.
Today, I got this in my mail from him:
quote
Subject: Imma go to the next fiero meet you attend
and knock whats left of you teeth out old man
Uh-huh, another very elaborate, well thought out email.
Anyway, I guess the chance of me letting him back on after this threat is slim at best.
No one touches our Fiero Savior, period. Otherwise Fieros across the world will unite and transform into great Fiero Machines and destory him. Seriously.

Personally, I think there should be an indication to the member that they are about to be banned, especially for folks that are new to the forum. Might change their attitude if they knew it was coming in a few more ratings.

I have found that if Cliff needs to say something, even though it is his forum, something must have really been needed to be said.
And yes, if he were to attempt an attack on your teeth, I am more than sure that a few of us on here would handle the situation accordingly. That is why I always carry around duct tape, and zip ties. You never know when you might need to keep a guy quiet while transporting.

He wasn't a "bad guy" although he did display some RFT attitude when someone disagreed with him. I don't have a problem if he signs on again with a new name and CAN BEHAVE himself and talk with civility to other users...
People who "enjoy" arguing/flaming/name calling have another website geared for that. Of course, most of the threads over there are posted by a handful of people about what's going on over here anyway - so why bother?. LOL
In all fairness, I just received another email from him in which he apologized. He "was just mad".
(still no idea why he was mad at me though).
As I figured - empty threats from someone who sounds kinda immature. Some people "fly off the handle" when they're mad and spew all kinds of crap. He's not the only one here...

So after going "postal" it's okay to say you're sorry and everything's alright again?
Is that like going to confession in the Catholic Church?
Cliff, you certainly know best, but if I was running the show I tell the guy to come back and re-apply for membership in a couple of years after he's matured a bit and had plenty of time to think about his infantile threat.
Making physical threats is a Criminal Offense in most jurisdictions. Many is the man who has apologized at the time of sentencing.
Cliff made a point of having a rating system and the members vote to ban a person. So, Cliff is absolutely right to respect the decision of the group he put in charge of banning, namely US.
If a guy gets himself banned it is not the end of the world as we know it. It is, in fact, self inflicted punishment. We know the rules and if we all respect the rules we are all winners and have a nice forum for our favourite hobby.

For once Patrick and I are in complete agreement... Threatening to knock someone's teeth out isn't something you get to be absolved of just by saying "Sorry, I was mad". No sh** you were mad, but you still shouldn't have said it!

I lot of people who joined way after the rating system was implemented don't realize how it works--still. They aren't familar with a forum where the members do the rating and banning I guess, tho I am pretty sure it's explained somewhere here in one of the posting rules sections.
But, it WAS certainly explained to him in the widebody thread he ressurected.

Of course not. I was pretty mad myself when I read his apology mail and I was about to let him know what he could do with his apology. But, as one matures, one can restrain oneself more easily.
But to be honest, it's nothing new for me to receive all kinds of threats from banned members.
