It is indeed the real deal.
Poor (but not horrable) quality, 'choppers drown out alot of the dialog, extended scenes, the works!
I got it from the website below that sells workprints:
http://www.stumpydisks.com/tradeworkprint.html

Their legal disclaimer:
The section of American copyright law known as "The Berne Act" states: Films unreleased in the United States, including original version of films altered and/or edited for release in the United States, are not protected by American copyright; thus, they are considered public domain. All of our films have either never been released in the USA or are long out of print and have not come out on DVD yet. Once one of our films comes back into print it will be removed from our stock and not be sold anymore.

Maybe that explanes the missing "e" in the "Apocalyps Now" on the case?:
(the disc is obviously a blank regular 'ol burned disc )

Here is how much of it fills the screen:

Oh, it's got it all!
It's just so exciting watching something that was never ment to be seen (the workprint)!
It feels so..................exclusive..................and naughty!

It's only $15 bucks at that website.

I would have to say that for 99.999999999% of the people on the planet, it's not worth it at all.
Poor visually, virtually no sound, small screen.

But very interesting to freaks like us!

Stuff like this: In the first scene where Martin Sheen is in the hotel room waiting for a mission ("to be sent up like so much roomservice"), in this workprint there is an extended scene where he is getting a little rough in bed with a vietnamesse whore, who runs out of the room.
In the other versions, they dwell on the fact that he is alone in the room.
You might say "So what", but that little change has a HUGE impact on the whole movie, in my opinion.

In the version everyone see's, you get the impression that he is a severe loner, which goes along with the kinds of "eraser" work he has done in the past, and makes him the perfect entity for this mission.
But now we know he wasn't as severe a loner as we were led to believe.
Changes the whole feel of the man, the mission, and the movie.

And THAT'S why I dig it so much.
Like the first time I seen the "Redux" version.
ALMOST a whole different movie!
