2] Stinks your bike was stolen. I guess it could've been stolen BEFORE it crashed. That would've been worse. Cold comfort, eh?
3] Your co-workers are just jerks. Nothing you can do about it. Looks like you're taking the best course dealing with it. Not many options there.
4] Take a few bucks and buy a beige 4 door nothingmobile. Can you stand to drive that to work every day? And drive so slow they all get stuck behind you in traffic? You'll hve more money for other projects. Tough daily drive though.

Funny you should mention a few-dollar beige 4-door nothingmobile. That's exactly what jerk #1 drives when he's not being a jerk on his bike. Though admittedly, he drives his POS (meaning, borderline dangerous... I've driven it) nothingmobile like a grandma, not using turn signals and all.
I would un-enjoy that profusely. I don't have to drive fast at all, but if I'm driving something without any character or feeling whatsoever (or without enough power to safely get up to highway speeds on some of our short on-ramps), I just get more frustrated at driving, and it's very bad to drive around here already (lots of totally inconsiderate, dangerous jerks to contend with). I definitely wouldn't ever purposely hold up traffic, that can get dangerous quick with the heavy traffic around here, and it's just plain rude anyway.
Aside, a new Camaro is extremely much safer and more reliable than said few-dollar nothingmobile.
I appreciate the suggestion of the possibility, though.

And a new Charger with a Hemi in it will make that Camero look like granny's car....not that I am suggesting standing on the peddle or anything...

And my '88 Fiero GT that I'm not going to give up on will make that "Hemi" Charger look like the severely obese ugly-arse slow 4-door family car that it actually is.
The Camaro will be just dandy as a DD (and still outhandle that Dodge piggy).

Glad that you seem to be ok, it took a full week for all my injuries to get as bad as they were going to. Liquor was the final fix to get some of the locked up mussels to release to where I could lift my left arm away from my body 3 1/3 weeks after the crash. My 780 pound Harley landed on me, I still ride but, in town only. 6 broken ribs, I picked up the bike and rode it to the shop. Doc at the hospital said I might die due to all the internal bleeding but, I didn't.
How about using some of the $30,000 for the new car to have someone else paid to work on and make a few of your other cars worth keeping? I am very put out by my Dad having kept many cars that he did not use or car for, leaving my brother the burden of disposing of them. Fix them and drive them, or sell them. Keep one dream car and be done with it.

Wow, sorry to hear you went through that, glad you're okay also. You got me beat, 780 > 450, heh.
The Camaro's going to be $25k (1LT), but 30 is close enough for your point I guess.

Exactly, those are my two options, and I'm choosing the latter. Even if I had them fixed outside (like I'm having the Fiero built), they still end up being a lot to deal with altogether, and I don't have the room for all of them anyway. They're still old modified cars, and will possibly continue to break more often than I want to deal with on more than just one car anymore. That thar single dream car will now be my built-up Fiero.
Single 'dream car' with the single 'dream bike' in the single garage, single daily driver in the single lane driveway (along with my wife's single daily driver), and a single beater truck off to the side. You don't think that's enough plurals to deal with already?

I think I got sea sick trying to follow that. Sounds like 5 vehicles to pay tax and insurance should do. That is what I run with. 1 truck, 1 Fiero, 1 Motorcycle, 1 dailydriver, and 1 wife car. My trucks have earned their keep so, I make sure I have one. The Fiero can run or not, it is a toy.

Gosh. I did not hear about the JazzMan, . Give him my best and I will tell him myself. Prayers given, well wishes, good vibes. Gosh. How is he doing ?
Apologies to Steven for a brief thread jack...!
hey there cliffw... I did not mean to ignore, sorry, I did not check back on the thread until now!
I will pass on to Jazzy that you and fieroguru were both concerned for him. He will appreciate the thoughts.
HIs accident is about 2 months removed. It was a Low speed collision (that's like saying... "oh... it is minor surgery" right?), but essentially, he got run over by a F-150 at a stop sign. The pickup, driven by an inattentive female, hit him head on, put the bike on the ground, and as her wheel rolled over his front forks, it pivoted the back of the bike up and he rolled clear. He was just sitting at the 4way... and she made a left turn to sharp and ran smooth into him. She gets out of the truck... "Where did you come from?"
He said she was kinda trying to pass it off like it was his fault or something... but witnesses and first responders were right there trying to help him and calling 911 and such.
He was bruised... real sore in his back. Bike was totalled, but in typical Jazz fashion... he rebuilt it. I hope there is not lingering trouble in his back... and he was wearing full gear. He mentioned his arms hurt pretty good. The shock of impact went right from the frame through the bars and into his arms.
Her insurance totalled it. I am not sure on any settlement, but I do know he re-purchased the salvage, was able to keep the salvaged title from being applied and bought a parts bike or two. I have seen the before pics, and the bike as it sits now. A casual observer would not realize that his bike was totalled.
Thanks for the interupt Steven...

No problem, any good info about a downed rider in any of my posts is fine with me. It sounds like he went for some ride. :/ I'm glad he wanted to, and did, rebuild it!
Thanks for letting us know (I had sent him my best wishes too. )

Insurance settled nicely. At least something went right!
They declared it a total loss from the accident because it likely was, despite the theft and lack of any evidence other than a police report and my partial description. They paid for my bike (a 2008), which was worth only $80 less than I paid for it brand-new 1400 miles and 9 months ago. I bought it because the new bike was that good of a deal.
In addition, they reimbursed me in full for my Muzzy slip-on, Zero Gravity tinted windscreen, the factory solo-seat cowl, and the replacement "ZX-10R" decals (I wanted them to be all-white) even though they couldn't see them on the stolen bike, then for my helmet and leather jacket (didn't need to claim the rest of the gear, it's in decent repair). Keep all of your receipts!
They really came through. Based on this experience, I would HIGHLY recommend Progressive Insurance. They may not be the cheapest, but usually aren't bad, and it is obviously well worth it to me. /plug
As for myself, I still hurt a lot with short bouts of extreme sharp pain depending on how and where I move, but I'm slowly improving. I thought I would heal much faster, but apparently I really did a number on my body. It'll take a while.
We found the camera charger so I'll take pics of the gear before I have to turn it in to Progressive tomorrow (Sat.) morning, and also the remnants of what used to be a beautiful blue bike.
My new DD is patiently waiting for me at the dealership to pick it up early next week. It's very bitter-sweet since I had to let go of my TT IROC-Z for darn near nothing, but this Camaro is brand new, very nice, and most importantly... reliable.
