The fun thing I've found about hanging on the edge, when you finally let go, you never know where your'e going to end up. It could be a really fun place. And a not so fun place for your neighbors. Hang in there. There are a lot of us rooting for you. Not to get too radical (altho there have been some real radical solutions on this thread) a Barrets 50 Cal single shot could be a solution. OOPS, their trailer is too close for that. How about a Claymore (face down in the leach field?)
WOW the lucky 13th page

Hmm, I'm thinking it's time to plow up the new garden. Got any ideas for the location?

Well an excavator showed up yesterday next door. They unloaded it of the truck, cut down a tree in their yard to get it over to the other side of the yard where they are going to put in the new septic system. That was around 11 AM. Then it just sat there the rest of the day.
Called the permit guy, said they have a permit to put a new system in.
No word on what they are going to do with the old system, if they are just leaving it in place and disconnecting it or removing it.
Just wanted to keep everyone informed.

Wonder what kind of system they're installing? As I recall, the only place around their property that would perk was where the old tank was (and that was actually on your property).

So far they have brought in over 20 or maybe even 30 dump truck loads of dirt, haven’t really been counting. To build up the new system above.
Trucks started coming in this morning at 7 AM.
I will take a picture from the roof of our barn today. Should be a good shot of all the work.
They have been telling the contractor they don’t know what they are doing, that’s not the way they do it in NY city.
So the guys have been working till lunch and then calling it quits for the day. I think that’s all they can stand.

How close is the work to the property line? Is the protective barrier well within their property? Do you know people who can tell you when the old system is unplugged? How bad does it rain there and are they now uphill?

Protective barrier is about 2’ on their side of the property line.
We are on a first name basis with code enforcement and pluming inspector, small town.
Rain is an issue, we get a fair amount, and snow can be upwards of 10’ a season.
They always were up hill, now this has raised the level of the septic system a few ft. not sure but I think they installed the tank yesterday. I spent most of the day under our friends trailer.

ok first off, I just read the first page and the last page... yes i skipped the middle... I'm not sure about the surveying regs in your state, but here in Texas, you have these issues to deal with when it comes to boundary lines: first and foremost.. only a state registered surveyor can set property corners, the removal of said corners is a State Felony, sometimes reffered to as a federal felony.. Second is, fence posts and fence lines are secondary and losely recognized as boundary lines depending on circumstances.. (edit) most areas have easements for utilities & drainage and building setbacks along the property lines.(edit)
Get a survey!!! Now if you build a fence, i wouldn't recomend placing it anycloser than 1/2 a foot to the boundary line thats established by the surveyor, most suvrey companies will do a fence stake for you also. meaning they will stake out points on the property line at 10, 15, 20, 25, etc. feet depending on your request... cement in the posts!! If they remove the cemented posts, yuo can sue them for destruction of private property...
thats my 2 cents..
Josh
BTW I've been surveying for 12 years and I'm registering with the state of texas to become a SIT (surveyor in training)

Josh...maybe you need to read the middle. 2 surveys already done, surveys agreed that neighbor has encroached on the property. Read the thread. It's quite entertaining.

This afternoon I went out behind our barn to run a new string line on our property line. Following the new survey stakes.
Actually I used the survey posts for my string line. I figured that way I would get the straightest line and not be on their property. Put some fiberglass posts on our property to put another string line on and a live electric fence line on.
On my way out of the woods after running the first line I noticed the wife next door taking pictures of me running the line.
Can’t wait to see what comes of this.
I used to know a hog farmer in Tennessee who used an electric fence with 110 volt. I checked local code and they said there is no limit on the electric current used in an electric fence.
So I just have to call an electrician friend and see what gauge wire I need to use for 220 volt.
As long as it is posted Electric Fence I am covered. Lets see them rip this one down.

I think I'd make sure that no one else has a bad ticker before energizing a 220 Volt (??) amperage fence. Civil suits are bad enough, criminal charges are a whole different situation. I know we've joked about a lot of different "options" but, I'd hate to see someone getting fried.
As the old saying goes, it all fun and games till somebody gets hurt or killed.
